The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara

New World War II fiction written from a fresh perspective by a new author. Both books available on Kindle and part of the 'Apocalypse Now' series. Go and check them out.Stormbringer The Boulevard of Broken Dreams

It is as well written as "The Tin Drum" or "Gravity's Rainbow". But, it is all about the war.
There is no other World War 2 novel that comes anywhere close to it in terms of the twisted mindset that underpinned the War in Europe.

Hold on.... Are you saying Schindler's List is not fiction? It might be based on true facts but the novel Schindler's Ark (or Schindler's List, if you like) by Thomas Keneally is fictional...
I've put it back on the Listopia therefore. Only pity is that the votes it had got lost when the title was deleted.

I partly agree... Schindler's Ark is fiction, definitely, even though it might be based on real events. It's like some of the books by the Dutch author Hella S. Haasse: She sometimes uses real characters or events in fictional books. But I guess we can go on and on about this forever... Let's agree to disagree.

Maybe, but you’re correct and the 17 are wrong.

With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa is not fiction.
Helmet for My Pillow is not fiction.
Citizen Soldiers: The US Army from the Normandy Beaches to the Bulge to the Surrender of Germany is not fiction
Band of Brothers: E Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne from Normandy to Hitler's Eagle's Nest is not fiction
Beyond Band of Brothers: The War Memoirs of Major Dick Winters is not fiction.
Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors is not fiction.
The Longest Day is not fiction.
A Bridge Too Far is not fiction.
The Diary of a Young Girl is not fiction (and has apparently already been removed at least once?)
I haven't personally read Neptune's Inferno: The U.S. Navy at Guadalcanal, but I'm skeptical that it counts as fiction.
There are lots of other books on the list that I haven't personally read, but look like they're historical accounts of actual events.
Then there are books like The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe. Yes, it IS fiction, but it has nothing to do with WWII. There's one incredibly brief mention of the fact that the stars of the book are evacuated from London during the Blitz, but that's it, it's not actually about WWII.
Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War has nothing to do with WWII (as far as I know).

Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War removed as not pertaining to WWII.

Retribution: The Battle for Japan, 1944-45
