I just managed to get hold of Madam, Will You Talk for 20 cents from a local charity shop & knew I just had to join here!
It features some of the retro artwork that Tadiana has mentioned before
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7...

We have a Buddy Reads thread where we discuss the upcoming group reads.

Now if I wanted to get some cover envy going I'd show you the 1938 Ngaio Marsh I got (published in 1938)- also 20 cents! Not in good condition sadly or it would be worth something.
I forgot to mention my Marty Stewart history. I'm sure I read some in my tweens, but don't remember them well. With my rereads (or new reads) my favourite so far is This Rough Magic. I really was on the edge of my seat while I read it!

Definitely up for a buddy/group read of MWYT. Like you I'll pass on Nine Coaches Waiting. I read last year & its on my now dead Kobo.
I'll browse the threads properly soon. :)

That one does sound like me. The other title I can get hold of is the Gabriel Hounds.
But every year Zonta has a big book fair in our town. I went last year & there were heaps of MS titles. I just selected This Rough Magic as I thought I may not still like her. I just have to hope supporters of the fair regift books!

Welcome Carol!

The Merlin Trilogy are the only ones I haven't re-read. I need to find copies and see what I think of them now!

Do they read as fantasy, or as history? Are there paranormal or unworldly elements? Any magic?

Thank you. This is really useful and I really will try to read at least part of this trilogy now!

Just managed to get The Gabriel Hounds for 20 cents at the op shop I volunteer for. Hopefully that will be a group read soon! :)

Short for opportunity shop run by a charity. I'm enjoying the volunteering but the concrete floors mean I only do it once a week. They get a lot of deceased estates so its a good source for the books I love. I got an Anya Seton as well!

I haven't read Anya Seton since I was a teen (you know, like last year...).

If there is a group on GR that covers the mid 20th century authors I love, let me know."
What a great idea for a book club, Carol!

This Rough Magic is my favourite so far!
& welcome Katherine!

Thank-you so much for your warm and friendly welcome. I have so many good books to look forward to!

Thank-you. I am looking for Madam Will You Talk? right now, but I think I'll need to order it on line, our area doesn't seem to have it.

Thank-you Debbie!!!

And I think Madam still ranks #1 for me, Tessa!

Lol--long story! It started with Google's Earth Day game yesterday, telling you what animal you are most like. Several GR friends played and were told they were mantis shrimp. See Jessica's thread. Then someone pointed us to this hilarious page about mantis shrimp at Oatmeal.com. Several people were inspired to add new GR nicknames from this page.
I was not a mantis shrimp, however; I am a woolly mammoth, and after I threatened the shrimp with stomping they appointed me queen. Which I changed to dictator. :D This funny status thread from yesterday shows how it all evolved: https://www.goodreads.com/user_status...
I don't know how long I'll keep the moniker, but we had fun.

I agree!

I agree!"
Madam Will You Talk is one of my favorites also!

My name is Elizabeth, and I just joined this lovely group as I'm doing a re-read of Mary Stewart's romantic suspense novels - I have been reading them since I was 12 or so, introduced by my English language teacher (I am Greek) who gave me The Moonspinners as a gift. I have read all of the romantic suspense novels and almost all the Arthurian ones, and I go back to them at regular intervals.
Thanks for reading this!

Oh, my word! That probably means you've been to some of those lovely places I've only seen in my mind. Welcome indeed!

You're lucky to be able to see the places through her and your own eyes!

Is there any one now writing in her style? I am not interested in the millions of bodice rippers out there, LOL I want a GOOD mystery with adventure and romance.
