We have been reading our way through her books in publication order and are nearing the end, but if you look for the discussion threads for Airs above the Ground you’ll see we’ve had a lot of lively discussion about the book over the years and you’re welcome to add your own thoughts. If you feel like diving into the current discussion, we’re reading Thornyhold this month.

I haven't read it either, so it will be a voyage of discovery for both of us! I may not get to it for a week or two though, because I have two books before it in the queue.

Oh, good. That suits me, I have an ILL due back and a friend loaned me Bookshops and Bonedust, which I want to read and return soon. That plus other things I'm reading will keep me busy for a bit, too.

Sad news. I just got back from the library, and they no longer have this book - anywhere. They've been getting rid of books at a quick pace. I'm sorry to say that Stewart's are all gone except for one collection of three. Oh well, I can get them through ILL, but that can take a while.

I'll still look for your opinion of this when you read it, though.

Oh, dear! I guess libraries have to do that, but it's always painful. If it was a recent de-accession, do you have a library group that does book sales? They might have turned it over to them. When my library de-accessions, I can sometimes find the book in the Friends of the Library shop.

I will check there - those books are at a different branch. they had the book a month ago, so there's a good chance I can find it. Fingers crossed!

As we approach January, a heads-up that the next (and next-to-last) book is The Prince and the Pilgrim. February will be Rose Cottage and that will complete this round of readings.

I’ve posted up threads for The Prince and the Pilgrim—all except for the spoilers thread, which once again Goodreads is forbidding me to post! I’ll try again later and see if the machine will relent.

Unfortunately due to spammers, Goodreads won't let anyone post more than three threads at a time - even if you deleted one of the threads!

Hah, that explains it! Thank you. You’d think they could have a note explaining it instead of just saying that an error occurred and I should try again later—but techies seem to revel in being mysterious. I did try again later and managed to get the last thread up, but it’s just one more thing to try to remember.

That is not the Goodreads way.

You could contact Support (Staff) & suggest that if you want, but Groups have been a low priority with GR since I've been here. They don't realise that groups keep many of us here. :/

Yes, I have looked but faults & all I like the Goodreads format. Story Graph seems to be more for people who like graphs & recommendations - & I do my own graphs & I need more recs like a hole in the head!

A discovery (at least for me): Mary Stewart published a volume of poetry! Considering her gift for natural description, I thought her poems might be charming, so I dug up a copy.

It’s called Frost on the Window: Poems. First published in 1990. I’ll check to see if there’s a discussion thread and, if not, I’ll set one up in case anyone is inclined to read and discuss sometime—maybe after we finish reading the novels in February.

Often, I think or know I've read the book BUT when I look at old threads I read posts I wrote but have no memory of. (I hate that)

This time I am almost sure I read Rose Cottage but I don't see I posted at all in the spoiler thread or the threads for the first chapters.

So either I am remembering wrong and I didn't read it, or I read it but didn't care enough to post?

I ordered it from my library so will find out later!

Having glanced at some of the posts, I will set my expectations really low and then I am likely to enjoy it. I'm getting the large print version and that's always easier to read.

I finished reading Rose Cottage a few weeks ago. I skipped some of the others that were on your schedule, such as The Wicked Day, since I never felt like a fan of the Arthurian Saga. I do have a copy and may someday read it.

My library has this in large print, I just picked it up. I think I've read this before and enjoyed it more than I expected to, though I don't have it marked read on GR. We'll see what happens.

I got it from the library, cover below, and I have also checked out an audio version which is abridged, sadly, and read by Samantha Eggar.

I'll listen to the chapters after I read them.

How fun to discover Mary Stewart in Greece!

I agree that if you like This Rough Magic you will also enjoy My Brother Michael, which is my personal favorite, and Moonspinners, which I also love. After that there's more to read, I'd suggest Airs Above the Ground or Madame Will You Talk?
