Dylan O'Brien Will Play Mitch Rapp in American Assassin

Weeks after suffering a serious accident on the set of the latest Maze Runner film, Dylan O'Brien is apparently well enough to act again in the near future: THR reports that he's close to signing on to star in American Assassin, an origin story for author Vince Flynn's CIA agent hero, Mitch Rapp.

I am an avid reader and book collector.I am also a used book seller with a used book online selling business that is doing amazingly well.They reason i wanted to share this is because i am also a Mitch Rapp fan.I have read the series twice .I keep a collection of the series in hardcover ,in pristine condition of course in my private home library. I proudly display my Mitch Rapp collection for all my friends and family to see when they walk in to my home library. This series is the best series ever written.The Mitch Rapp character is just awesome .The actor that is chosen for that part definitely has to be not only in great shape but also has be be a very good actor because he is stepping into some very big shoes in the Mitch Rapp character.I believe this series if made into movies could be bigger and better than the James Bond franchise.
I just hope it's done well... I like what I have heard so far though. I think this can be an amazing movie franchise.
I agree with Shawn. It has the potential to become possibly one of the biggest and greatest movie franchises in history. It is only going to become a reality if they cast the best actor's the movie industry has to offer. In finding the perfect actor to play Mitch Rapp is a big project, then you have a lot of important characters to get as well. It can be done, nothing is impossible for Hollywood. I just hope it is done perfectly.I like Gerard Butler for an older version of Mitch Rapp. I think he would be perfect. If you have seen the movie, Olympus Has Fallen, you might agree with me.
Robert, i have to agree with you. He does look a lot to young. There are so many young actors that could really fit into the Mitch Rapp persona. I still say Gérard Butler would be the perfect more mature Mitch Rapp. The Olympus Has Fallen movie was awesome, and he kicked some serious terrorist ass in that movie, imagine him playing Mitch Rapp. They better run for the hills.

From what I've seen of him is that he play a very menacing if he needs to be and I think he could pull this of. If you don't think so please look up void stiles. A character Dylan played in his tv series when his character Stiles, got possessed. He could switch between Stiles and his evil couterpart incredibly well and was a good lead in maze runner.

Cecil, does make a good point. I have seen the actor transform into a butt kicking machine, but what about when a much more mature Mitch Rapp is needed ? This franchise is going to grow faster than a lot of people may imagine. They definitely are going to need a more mature Mitch Rapp in the movie series.I still say Gérard Butler would be great for the part. What do you think about Gerard Butler, Cecil ?

His five years away from his thirties. It does make sense to choose another actor but I guess I never really thought about it like that. Book sales will continue to be in high demand.So,hold on to your hard cover ,Vince Flynn books ,folks.I have the entire series in hardcover ,in pristine condition ,proudly being displayed in my private library in my home ,and i would not sell it for a thousand bucks.It is priceless.

I realize that Rapp was someone easily underestimated and written off in his early/young days, and they nailed that in this trailer. Which is maybe the nicest thing that I can say about it...
