Cassandre (bobarctor) | 2 comments Hello everyone, I posted a quote by Jean Ray (Malpertuis), and just discovered a minor mistake : it should be "le Seigneur d'avoir détourné" and not "le Seigneur l'avoir détourné".

May a nice librarian correct this ? Thanks !

Jennifer (blacjak) | 6 comments I am pretty sure Hank Bracker is not a notable person. I couldn't find anything on Google about him except his own promotions.

To make matters worse, when I searched for quotes on Havana, at least one of his "quotes" contains self-promotional information at the end, including how to contact him.

Jennifer wrote: "I am pretty sure Hank Bracker is not a notable person."

He has published works which are listed on Goodreads, which is sufficient.

However, info about the author does not belong in a quote. Removed.

"Generally, a person is notable if they have been the subject of published secondary source material which is reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject."

Since any author, including myself, can list their books on Goodreads, I disagree that that alone makes them "the subject of a published secondary source material." If you are putting your own stuff on the web that is not a secondary source. However, if you want to cite this : http://seiu2001.org/files/2013/03/Cse... as making him notable, I concede that it meets the requirements.

Thank you for removing the objectionable material from the quote.

Jennifer (blacjak) | 6 comments Sorry, I found another promotion in the quotes. (I am trying to find quotes for my freelance work and keep running into these):

https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/8421...

Also, "Canberra" seems to have written only two books and both of those were actually compiled by different branches of the Australian government. Is there a way to correctly attribute them?

Please correct.

message 424: by Empress (new)

Empress (the_empress) https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/7580...

The quote is oddly cut out. here is the full paragraph.

Two thousand Mansion Hussacht jagata wait by the headwaters of the Inirein. At your request, they will come south to Sieroch and join the battle. This gift the Necessary King offers without condition, save that you know him to be generous and his men brave.

Empress (the_empress) https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/8827...

Is it allowed to add "..." to indicate mid-sentence start of quote?

Alternatively this is the start of the sentence thought it is not required as the quote has not lost it's meaning: "He was a slim man, narrow-shouldered, his skin..."

#445 - quote is already linked to Sartre and La Nausée

message 439: by Hippie Shawn (new)

Hippie Shawn | 8 comments #445 only has "philosophy" and "existentialism" as tags, but I meant to also put "Jean-Paul Sartre" and "Nausea" as additional tags.

There is no need to add the author or book title as tags. As noted above, the quote is already linked to both.

Could you change this quote to this form:

"Still other times are more difficult, even "toxic", when we may become overwhelmed with anger that directly interferes with our ability to be in tune with our children. At these times, children may become filled with a sense of shame and humiliation, being left with an urge to turn away and with a sense that the self is defective. Repair is essential when there is a rupture, especially of this latter toxic sort. Repair is an interactive process that involves an acknowledgment of the disconnection and an attempt to move forward and reconnect."

Thank you.
