message 753: by Amy (new)

Amy Lee (ayelle) Hi all -- this quote from the 1991 movie "Hook" (screenplay by James V. Hart) has been misattributed to Barrie and Peter Pan. I can't edit it because too many people have liked it. https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/1275...

message 754: by Emily (new)

Emily | 17452 comments #764 I've changed the author and added Hook as the book. I found another quote (a slight variant) that I have merged with it as well. It will take a while to merge.

Chinkoln | 1 comments I added a quote twice. I typed it wrong so it quoted the person twice in the first time. I had thought I had removed it so then I tried to add it again correctly. Can you remove the one that has the quote twice?
The quote is...
“The day that books lose their magic is the same day that I will stop reading and start writing.”

Neither version meets the Goodreads notable people requirement (please see the right-hand column on the Add A Quote page), so both have been removed.

message 764: by Bread (new)

Bread | 19 comments Hi!

https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/2179...

This quote is currently being attributed to Camus' The Stranger but it should be attributed to his Lyrical and Critical Essays instead, as its from the preface: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

message 765: by Aude (new)

Aude (audek) | 57 comments https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/8241...

This quote cannot be attributed to Einstein with certainty. It's earliest apparition seems to date back to 1996. See: https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Talk:Al...

Unfortunately the quote has too many likes to be corrected by a normal librarian. What do ?

message 768: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee (kay133) | 71 comments Please remove the last word, "It" from this quote:
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/8198...

And combine it with this duplicate quote: https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/7363...

message 769: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee (kay133) | 71 comments Also, please remove the last word, "These" from this quote:
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/7592...

If anyone has the time and inclination, there were a few other quotes from this book that inserted an extra word at the end.

I was wondering if it's possible to change the book for the following quote, since the book linked is not the correct one. Thank you!

Kelvin Wong (kelvinwong) | 10 comments Hi,

I just added 2 quotes but they appear at the WRONG author page with the same name as me at: https://www.goodreads.com/author/quot...

Can you link the quotes back to my author page quote list at: https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/list

Also appreciate it if you can assist to link my book to my author's name in the quote (I couldn't select the link to my book because it always link to the wrong book) at: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

Thanks very much!

Emily | 17452 comments #780 quote fixed and merged
#781 fixed
#782 The link to the quote is broken
#783 Should all of your quotes be linked to your book? If you add a quote you have to put two spaces between your first and last name so that it will not wind up on the other person's page.

message 773: by Kelvin (new)

Kelvin Wong (kelvinwong) | 10 comments Hi, every time I add a quote and when I enter my name "Kelvin Wong", the system will automatically associate me with the wrong book "The Stereotype of Garment Industry" (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...) with no option to select the actual book "The Principles of Wealth" that I've written (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...).

Can you assist to disambiguate "Kelvin Wong" from https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...? Thanks very much!

Hi Kelvin,

Your GR name is Kelvin Wong (two spaces between the first and last names). Extra spaces are stripped before display, but they are used to distinguish between authors with the same names. Use two spaces and the quotes will be assigned to you.

Hello,

Sorry, I didn't realize the link I submitted was broken, I apologize for the inconvenience. I believe this one is the correct one: https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/9789...

Also, I posted another quote for the same book and again it linked to the wrong book. Here's the quote: https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/9792...

The book that should be linked in both cases is this one: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Thank you so much

Richard Laznik (schnitzelvonkrumm) | 18 comments https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/9840...

I think I may have tagged an incorrect author with this quote.

I think it should be: Dmitrii Sergeevich Likhachev.

The quote comes from this book: Reflections On Russia via a reference in Black Hundred: The Rise of the Extreme Right in Russia

They may be duplicate authors, but I don't know for sure.

Thanks.

Trevor Ambrico (a_screaming_comes_across_the_sky) | 2 comments Hi, I added a quote from Edward Abbey's Desert Solitaire here

https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/9841...

and immediately realized there was a typo.

"Soinds" should be changed to "sounds" in the first paragraph.

By the way, why isn't there a feature for me to just edit the quote I added for a simple typo, or at least delete and resubmit? It seems like a big inefficiency to have to ask a third party to change it. Typos are so common and really should be able to be corrected by the submitter.

I guess it is probably to avoid people abusing an edit feature, but librarians don't really know as we are volunteers. You can contact Goodreads staff to let them know your thoughts though:

message 800: by Craig (new)

Craig Lounsbrough | 1 comments I posted a quote to my quotes page and it needs a correction. The quote is:

I skipping [needs to be changed to 'skipped'] a stone on the glass-like surface of a sleepy lake this morning. And I watched the ripples roll out from the stone’s impact until their energy abated and they fell smooth as was the rest of the lake. And as they become smooth again, I thought that one of the greatest things I could ask of God would be to grant me the gift of a soul with such inner calm that it would smooth out every ripple from every stone that Satan could ever throw into it.

Your assistance with this correction would be appreciated.
