I'd say lets read Shining for now as a consensus is already established. I know it could be boring as many people say. But this was the first Stephen King I wanted to read. So personally I'm inclined towards starting Shining first.
We'll follow 'It' up in this thread :)

Though I can't promise to read from the trio you mentioned because that didn't incite my interest. Sorry for that.

do you know King hated that movie. he didn't liked it at all, not the screenplay nor the acting nor the direction. acc to him it was the worst adaptation of his work.

But it happens many a times that author is not happy with the way its being portrayed on screen.

Have completed Part 1 and would be taking a couple of days off reading.

Caution: I've tried to sum it up till chapter 4 but might contain spoilers I've read till chap6 and don't remember distinctively. No major spoilers though.

Jack lost his job. Family life is troublesome as he loses his temper easily. In rage attacked his child leading to a fractured arm. Wife thinking of divorce. Jack somehow trying to delay talking about divorce and trying to pull family together. He also happens to be a struggling writer. He accepts a job of caretaker at hotel overlook. And plans to do some writing while being there cut off from the world for the whole winter.
Danny their child has some psychic powers. He can read people's minds and has a sixth sense of what happens in family. Terry is a boy appearing in Danny's head.
There's also a fight between Jack and G (forgot the name). One road accident.
That's pretty much how i see the plot moving.
