Just.wait.and.watch....because there will be more:)

Manasa wrote: "I'm at 90% and you're right. This book isn't that serious in terms of war when compared to you-know-what.

Not a cliffhanger. I liked the lecture her uncle (or whoever) gave her in the last while milking the cow(?).
It was something about courage and knowing things. I forgot it, but I know that I liked it then:P

Manasa wrote: "You're half right. It's not bi-pola..."

Oh, then it's good that I don't know the ending. It's not bi-polar? Wow. But Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are same? And there's a scientific explanation of it!! I'm excited.

message 54: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, if I tell you the actual genre of The Giver, then it will be kinda spoiler. But I'm sure you'll like The Giver. Have you seen the movie The Giver? (Taylor Swift is in a guest appearance in the movie :)

message 55: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm going to complete the book, then I'll tell you my thoughts :)
Wait till then.

message 56: by [deleted user] (new)

Manasa wrote: "Four stars huh? liked it? :)"

Yep.

message 57: by [deleted user] (new)

Manasa wrote: "i decided on To sir with love for the next book :)
I'll read The giver some other time ^^"

That's good. Gehna will be pleased to know. Invite her her :)

Manasa wrote: "Do you like Tay tay?"

Now, that's a tricky question. I must confess that I didn't pay her any attention when she still was a Country singer. But her Pop debut caught my eye. 1989 was a great album. I liked almost all songs of it (except Clean, How you get the girl, and You are in love).
Now, I'm exploring her Country music and that's good too.
So you can see, I like her music.

message 59: by [deleted user] (new)

What about you?

message 60: by [deleted user] (new)

Manasa wrote: "Arpit wrote: "What about you?"

The answer is yes. I like Taylor Swift :)"

Hi-five :)
And what are your favourite songs of Tay-tay?

message 61: by [deleted user] (new)

TS as a country singer or TS as a pop singer?

message 62: by [deleted user] (new)

BTW, sorry for my disappearance. My exams are on-going, and this is the only time we study :P

Manasa wrote: "In the first page, he quotes Steinbeck
They looked like peasants, talked liked peasants...something"

Haha...if Of Mice and Men weren't our May BOTM, you would have missed it.
Actually, almost all of Steinbeck's novels have country setting, thus characters are usually peasants.

Manasa wrote: "How was the strange case...? The ending was surprising right?"

Strange Case was great. Ending wasn't that surprising for me, because of my previous spoiler and the new spoiler blurb gave me. Really!!
Read the blurb-
Dr Jekyll has discovered the ultimate drug. A chemical that can turn him into something else. Suddenly, he can unleash his deepest cruelties in the guise of the sinister Hyde. Transforming himself at will, he roams the streets of fog-bound London as his monstrous alter-ego.

It's soooo spoiler-y :'(

message 65: by [deleted user] (new)

But I like the writing. I'm going to read more by this author.

message 66: by [deleted user] (new)

I will start Black Beauty from 17th of May :)

message 67: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, and good morning :)

message 68: by [deleted user] (new)

Manasa wrote: "Have you seen the movie? To sir with love?"

Not yet. Although I heard the song To Sir; With Love . It was good. Trailer was also nice, but it seems just like the book. I will watch it if any of my friend has a copy, otherwise I'm not gonna download it.

Your views about movie?

Manasa wrote: "I'm at 60% and really liking it :)
I feel bad for so many of my teachers we've troubled (Not in the way the students used to trouble Braithwaite though :P)"

I was never a troubling-child. Always a decent student. *Clears throat*
Even I was favourite student of my social science teacher despite my poor knowledge of social science-especially history:P

message 70: by [deleted user] (new)

Manasa wrote: "Ok :)
But the horse is the narrator so I don't know :p
you'll like the writing probably"

That's what makes it special and different.
I am positive about this book.
Just one question-
A sad ending?
(if the answer of this question is a major spoiler, then ignore it)

Oops!!....It was my favourite too....just a few days ago....but then Adele came. At this time I'm not listening to anything except Rumour Has It and Someone Like You by Adele :)

message 72: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey Girl,
how r u?

message 73: by [deleted user] (new)

BTW, I just bought my life's second music album. The first one I gifted to my friend, and now the second one, I bought it for myself:)

Guess what was it? Well, it's 21 by Adele :)

message 74: by [deleted user] (new)

message 75: by [deleted user] (new)

BTW, thanks for that look :P

message 76: by [deleted user] (new)

Manasa wrote: "No, it's more like a meaningful ending :)
(If my answer doesn't make sense, please ignore :p) "

I'm okay with any ending, until Black Beauty does not die :)

message 77: by [deleted user] (new)

What's going on with Mr. Braithwaite now?

Gorab (itsgorab) | 3110 comments Rollin' in the deep, Someone like you - I like them both and they have great videos too! Adele is one of those rare modern singers with magic in vocal chords!

How do you listen your music? I mean which device?

Gorab, Manasa- Both songs are great. And the other are too. The video of "Someone Like You" is nice, but you can find the video (on utube) of her singing live in the Royal Albert hall. The video is great. Actually her audience was great. It knew when to be silenced, when to cheer, when to applause and when to sing along :) When they sing along, OH MY GOD.
There's 10 minute long video on YouTube, where Adele first says a lot of things but I couldn't understand them because of UK accent (I'm so accustomed of US accent). But when she start singing, and then invite her audience to join her. Simply it was great. Go watch it now :) and thank me later :P

He went to Miss.Dare's house and spoke to her mother. The change in the attitude of students is so prominent :D"

Haha...I forgot who was Miss Dare? Is there any character named Pamela, who has a crush on Mr. Braithwaite?

message 84: by Jarvis (new) - added it

Jarvis How's it going for you, Manasa? The book?
I absolutely love it :-)

Jarvis @Manasa, you have seen the movie, right?

message 88: by [deleted user] (new)

Manasa wrote: "Done with To Sir, with love, 5 stars ^^"

Wow. Tomorrow is my practical and then a 7-day break, then another exam. I'm hoping to complete BB in those 7 days, with many other books :)

And starting Black Beauty today :)

Dr. Abin | 159 comments Good morning buddies,
Going through Don Quixote; don't know whether to laugh or cry, upon seeing the whim of the protagonist.

message 94: by [deleted user] (new)

Good morning evening, Manasa and Doctor :)

message 95: by [deleted user] (new)

Don Quixote? I have nothing heard nothing but great things about this book. It is think.
I want to read it someday.
It's the favourite book of my favourite (alas! fictional) character, Tom Sawyer :)
He love it.

message 96: by [deleted user] (new)

Manasa, I have started BB. It's hard to believe that a horse is narrating. It hardly sounds like a horse. I doubt it, but then I don't know how a horse narrated things :P

message 97: by [deleted user] (new)

But I'm liking it :)

message 98: by [deleted user] (new)

You read Tom Sawyer? Did you like it?
When are you gonna read Huck Finn?

Yep!! The ending! I didn't like the ending. I completed it in a month, I guess.

message 100: by Dr. (new)

Dr. Abin | 159 comments Black beauty is one of the all time best sellers.
I remember of having read a novel by Leo Tolstoy wherein a horse was the protagonist, but I forgot the name. Anyone remembers?
