Laura | 632 comments Hi! I'm really excited to start this challenge :D

message 3: by beth (new)

beth (beth01) Yes, same! Although I'm not doing any buddy reads, is that alright?

message 4: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments Checking in. Let's have a good reading month!

They don't really seem as important in this challenge as in others, so don't worry about it if you don't want to participate in one. I find buddy reads pretty exhausting myself.

message 6: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments I agree. I'll probably do half buddy half individual just to give our points a small boost :)

message 10: by beth (new)

beth (beth01) I honestly have no plan I'm just gonna wing it

message 11: by Xiamera (new)

Xiamera | 677 comments So far I have elemental assassin, chicagoland vampires and bloodlines series to catch up on and two book 1s from new series.

message 12: by Abby (new)

Abby | 5404 comments Same, Beth. I have a few buddy reads, but otherwise, not much planned. I will read The Walking Dead volume I have. Have to take advantage of the graphic novel rule. :)

Christina | 4293 comments Xiamera you're on fire! Ill finish a book today and post the review :)

message 18: by Abby (new)

Abby | 5404 comments I started with a chunky book, and need to finish one from last month, which I can still count for pages.

message 19: by Abby (new)

Abby | 5404 comments And just a reminder to find the highest page count for the books. It'll help. ;)

message 20: by Xiamera (new)

Xiamera | 677 comments Thanks Christina :)
I didn't think of that Abby, just about finally getting around to reading some books that have been taking up space. But thanks to that advice I found one that'll rack up 5 points in one go and as an added bonus I was actually interested in the story before I even knew it was such a long book. Yay.

message 21: by Abby (new)

Abby | 5404 comments Yeah, I'm reading a book over a thousand pages as well. It's a great time to get those big ones out of the way.

message 22: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments Nice work! Good Idea to get some chunky ones out of our TBR piles

message 23: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments Oh! Turns out there was a buddy read forum for my book! I'll discuss and post the link!

message 24: by Abby (new)

Abby | 5404 comments Holy cow, Xiamera! Did you really just finish Under the Dome in under two days?? I remember taking weeks to read that one. You're kicking butt!

message 25: by Xiamera (new)

Xiamera | 677 comments Lol thanks. It felt good to read such a long book. Good books are like pringles for me...once I start I can't stop. Plus I have oodles of free time right now.

Abby | 5404 comments And welcome, Lucky!

message 30: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments Welcome lucky!
I will be finishing a book tomorrow and starting new one :)

message 31: by Abby (new)

Abby | 5404 comments And I can't stress enough that you need to get the highest page counts! I don't want to be bossy, but I did see some books on our review thread that had much higher counts than what was posted. Look under "other editions" to see other versions of the book.

Xiamera | 677 comments Noted Abby. Another language counts too? Can we have the scores adjusted then or has that ship sailed?

Luckyreadingreviews | 307 comments hi guys I have just joined

message 36: by Abby (new)

Abby | 5404 comments I'm flipping between two large books right now so it'll be a few days, but I'm definitely still reading.

Xiamera, I saw that you read Outlander. I'm on the 6th one right now. Did you enjoy it?

message 37: by Xiamera (new)

Xiamera | 677 comments I did enjoy it minus one or two parts. I don't think I'll pick up book 2 just yet, but I'll definitely read the rest for the challenge. Do they get increasingly better?

message 38: by Xiamera (new)

Xiamera | 677 comments By the way guys we're leading in the medium group for now. Yay!

I found the first one to be the best, but the rest certainly aren't bad! The first three were fantastic, and it's sort of dropped off from there, but not enough where I'd stop reading them. Have you watched the TV series yet? I think it's a great adaptation.

message 40: by Xiamera (new)

Xiamera | 677 comments I kept seeing the TV series pop up but I haven't gotten around to it as yet. I didn't know at first that it was based on a novel though but when I saw it on goodreads I decided to give the book a try first. I don't know if I'll watch the series any time soon now because I tend to notice every little thing when I watch an adaptation and constantly make comparisons. So I'll have to wait until the books or not so fresh before I give the series a try.

beth (beth01) Laura I saw that you just read Red Queen... How was it? I've been thinking about reading it but haven't really gotten around to it yet ahah

I had heard some mixed reviews (a lot of people praising it and others saying it was only OK) but I'm really glad I gave it a try. I enjoyed it a lot and now I can't wait to buy the second book.

message 43: by Abby (new)

Abby | 5404 comments One week left! I'm trying my hardest to finish A Breath of Snow and Ashes (Outlander, #6) by Diana Gabaldon which is my big one for the month. But if I don't, I can still count what pages I did read.

message 46: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments Great work girls! I'm currently reading red queen. Sorry been a slow reading month for me

message 47: by Abby (new)
