Team Reviews: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

This is a team reading challenge that will run from May 1st to May 31st inclusively. Results will be announced on June 1st.

For this challenge we will be going back to basics, and that means counting how many pages we read ☺

To earn points in this challenge, all you need to do is read and review your books as normal, and tell us how many pages you have read! At the end of the challenge pages will be converted to points at 5 points for every 1000 pages read. Buddy reads will continue to earn extra points ☺ The team with the most points at the end wins!
- books with pictures, middle grade books, poetry books, and graphic novels will all only count for 33% of their page count on goodreads due to the lower word count per page.

This challenge will be a team challenge. When signing up please let us know if you want to join a 'Serious' team (reading 12 books or more), a 'medium' team (reading 8-12 books) or a 'Just for fun' team (reading any number of books). You may also choose to only take part in the 'solo' part of the challenge (those people in teams will be automatically entered into the solo challenge as well).

Teams will be picked on April 25th, and team threads opened. Each participant will need to comment on the team thread, confirming that they are 'ready' for the challenge to start, by 0:00 May 1st (Goodreads time). If you do not confirm that you are playing, you will be removed from the team.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF OUR SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT RULES AND POINTS FOR THIS CHALLENGE.

Points:
• 5 points for every 1000 pages read.
• 1 point for buddy read of a book with 200-449 pages.
• 2 points for buddy read of a book with more than 450 pages
(Bonus points for buddy reads will only be given if the buddy read has taken place in our group, and the book read is over 200 pages.)

Rules:
• Books must be read between the 1st of May to the 31st of May inclusive.
• Books can be any length, but must be over 200 pages to count for a buddy read point.
• 1 re-read is allowed.
• Our regular challenge rules can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Katrina, what day would work for you? :)

message 9: by Katrina G (new)

Katrina G | 4635 comments I have a lot of buddy reads at the beginning of the month, so would the 22nd work alright for you?

message 10: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Turns out I actually already have two BRs planned then, would the 26th work? It's my first open day near the end of the month :) I can always double up on another sooner though

message 11: by Katrina G (new)

Katrina G | 4635 comments The 26th will be okay :)
Do you want to set the thread up?

message 12: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Yea I can! Sorry for just now replying!

message 13: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9967 comments Hi, I'm so sorry. I am only now seeing this thread but just checking in to say I am here :)

message 14: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Hey! And no worries, there was still a couple days left anyways! I'll mark you as checked in once I'm back on my computer!

message 15: by Katrina G (new)

Katrina G | 4635 comments So as it stands, I have 14 buddy reads planned for this month. I'm excited to get this challenge started!

message 16: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments That's so awesome! I think I have around 26 planned! :) hopefully it'll be a great month!

message 17: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments Hey I'm here! Sorry I've been moving back home from uni :)

message 18: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Hey Connie! Welcome to the team!!

message 19: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments Hey Meaghan :)

How are you all?! Sorry again for being late! Unpacking isn't my strong suit!

message 20: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Haha it's fine! I'm a terrible unpacker as well! I'm good, and excited for this challenge to start! :)

message 21: by Katrina G (new)

Katrina G | 4635 comments 26 buddy reads is awesome!! I'm also going to be reading a lot of graphic novels. They won't count for very many pages, but a little bit is better than nothing. I'm excited to be able to count them in for a challenge for once

message 22: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Oh yea when I read that I thought it was awesome! I usually don't read them a lot, but I might pick one up since they count for this challenge!

message 23: by Katrina G (new)

Katrina G | 4635 comments I usually don't read them because they don't count for challenges. Usually what happens is I'll have a couple days at the end of the month where there isn't enought time to read a full book, so I fill the space with graphic novels so I'm at least still reading something

message 24: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments I have loads of shorter books that I can blast through easily to get them read and off my shelf, I'll definitely hop on as many BRs as possible too,

I have two exams this month but once their over, it's read, read, read!

message 25: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Yea I've got four exams too, but those signal the end of my tough classes, so tons of reading for me too!! I've got mainly longer books planned this month to take advantage of the page count challenge!

I also did the math, and reading books under 200 pages isn't worth it for this challenge. Since you get 5 points for every 1000 pages, that's one point per 200 pages, meaning that in other challenges book 100-200 pages would be worth a full point, they'll be worth less than a point in this one. They also don't count for buddy reads, so overall I guess I'm just trying to say that if anyone has books under 200, I would just save them for another month unless you really want to read them!! Of course you guys don't have to listen to that, just laying out the facts so everyone can plan with them :)

message 26: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments I have like a lot of books to get through so I'm going to blast through them, obviously I have larger ones to but I'm a pretty fast reader so it doesn't take me long to finish books :)

message 27: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Alright sounds great! I've got tons of books planned too in varying lengths! :)

message 28: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments With challenges like these, I try and tackle my bookshelves shelf by shelf so the shelf I'm currently on ranges from books over 1000 pages to books with 100 pages ^.^

message 29: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Oh yea that's a smart plan! That's way less organized than me xD I just plan the month ahead with whatever I have on hand. If I didn't do BRs for extra points, my reading would be all over the place!

message 30: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments I used to do that but I found myself getting into slumps really easily, I used to be able to write a list and check them off one by one but I think the last MMC was the peak of my reading ability :P Last August I read over 70 books and I don't think I ever really recovered from it because now I can't write lists and stick to them. I can do BRs pretty quickly though

message 31: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Oh jeez I wish to read that many a month at some point! Time is the only real restraint for me honestly xP too bad things like school and responsibilities exist, otherwise I could read all day!

I used to not be able to stick to lists, and suddenly I was able to now. My first challenge was terrible list-wise, as I only read half of what I planned and everything else was randomly selected, but my plan for this month actually worked out pretty perfectly for once!

message 32: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments I try every month to do a list but it kind of depresses me a little bit now :P

message 33: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Aw yea I get that :( there's not a lot more upsetting than unfinished lists

message 34: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments Tell me about it!

I'm scrolling through Amazon now and because today was payday I might treat myself to a few new books for this challenge ;)

message 35: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments That's always fun! As soon as I get my pay I'm doing the same! Except I've already got so many books planned for May that whatever I buy will probably be pushed into June already xD I kinda have a book buying problem, but Amazon prime is just the best thing. I only have to wait two days to get my books, and that fast shipping is free!

message 36: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments I know! I love Amazon Prime so much! It's so bad that I use it so much! There's nothing more that I love more than new books and free shipping!

message 37: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Yea I'd be so much richer without it, I splurge on random new books wayyy too often! There's seriously nothing better! Especially when the books are usually semi discounted too!

message 38: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments I know! Getting a book for like £3 is amazing!

I also have a really amazing second hand book shop not far from my house and I love charity shops for book shopping as well!

Do you have any books that you don't have buddy's for next month? I can see if I have any of them//they're on my TBR

message 39: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments I think I posted a list of books I currently own that I need BRs for in my welcome message :) any of those I'd love to read! If you have a list I could always see what TBRs we have in common, since the list I posted only has ones I own, and there's about 400 more that I want to read but don't own (yet xD )

message 40: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments I wish I had more book shops around me :( we've only got the major chains, and while the clearance section at one of them is amazing, it rarely changes. But I didn't know Prime extended to the UK? (Assuming that's where you are, since you said the price in £s) I'm moving to Europe soon, and I was worried my prime wouldn't ship there for free, but does it?

message 41: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments I do have a list but it's not very organised :P it's just really a list of books that I own! I'll get the link now (I'm mobile right now as it's almost 3am)

message 42: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments Yeah! I live in Northern Ireland which is the smallest part of the U.K. And almost everything on Prime ships to us! I'm pretty sure it extends the majority of Europe now, maybe not Eastern Europe yet but I'm not too sure about that ^.^

Here's my link:

message 43: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Ah right, I'll check it out as soon as you get the link! And wow that's late! It doesn't matter if you post the link tomorrow then, the challenge doesn't truly start until Sunday anyways :)

message 44: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Oh wow that's great news! Hopefully where I plan to be living falls under the area! And I'll check out your list now :)

message 45: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Quick question, but on your list, is the yellow what you've read, or what does it stand for?

message 46: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments I'll also read Dead Girls Don't Lie! I haven't added that to my list but I own it :)

message 47: by Connie (new)

Connie (sunstormsandthunderclouds) | 3978 comments Yellow is what I've read :)

message 48: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Alright I'll do Dead Girls Don't Lie! I'm checking out your list now of what I want to read that I can easily order :)

message 49: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Ivan do Sweet Evil with you :) I'd be willing to do the whole series this month if you'd want to!

message 50: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments Hey Connie! Did you still want to do the buddy reads? :)
