This is my first time doing this. I am going to get some breakfast then start prepping my reading nest for the day. ☺

Taking a stretch break. I want to try to do that once an hour or so. Another cup of coffee sounds good too. What else is everyone doing to take a break between reading sprints?
Snacks so far, cinnamon bread with peanutbutter, some cereal with almond milk and an apple. I am going to try to take several micro naps throughout the day/night so I can stay up the whole time. What other strategies are folks using to stay awake? Besides caffeine?
Just about 8 hours in now. I am a little behind on what I had planned, but not terribly, I should be able to catch up. How is everyone else doing?
Ok. I think I will only manage to stay awake until midnight. *yawn* 16 hours of reading isn't too bad though. ..

I'd day 16 hours is an awesome achievement! I'm aiming for the full 24, but I won't hesitate to call it quits if I get too sleepy.

My current plan (and who knows what I will actually do on Saturday) is to switch back and forth between 3 different books. Legacies (Repairman Jack #2) by F. Paul Wilson, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling and Taken at the Flood by Agatha Christie. Ideally I will finish all 3, but even if I can get 3/4 of the way through each, I am OK with that. I have a few comic books and such around for times when I need a break from my main books. I also have several shelves of physical books and a bunch of kindle books on my phone if i just feel like reading something else.

So I think that there is something nice about switching up books like you're planning. Hope you have fun!
Maybe next time I will try the one chapter from na ton of books idea. I like that. Or switch off to a different book every hour. So far, I have stuck to my plan. I read from one physical book for a couple hours, then listened to an audio book for 1/2 hour. Took a break to run errands and have breakfast. Now I am on to book 2.
Another couple hours down. Time for a snack break. I have a small plate of veggies. Leftover spaghetti and meat sauce for later.
I have been switching between 2 physical books and an audio book. So far so good. The real test will be if I can continue much past midnight.
It is past midnight and I am still awake. Short stretch break, then listen to an audio book for a bit to rest my eyes before continuing.

2:30 am and I am running out of steam. I am going to push myself to stay up until 3am. 3 more hours than April at least. Good luck to those going for the long haul!
My plans for the weekend of the read-a-thon. I am likely doing an extended read-a-thon where I will squeeze in the 24 hours between Friday and Sunday, trying to do most Saturday and Saturday night in between other responsibilities. I will read at least a little of each of these, but I doubt I will finish all of them. Physical Books:
Devil's Garden by Lance Tuck (304 pages)Likely reading Friday/Sunday as part of my extended read-a-thon.
Already started.
Summoned to Tourney by Mercedes Lackey (298 pages) Hoping to read the whole thing during the formal read-a-thon hours.
Audio Book:
Nemesis by Agatha Christie (246 pages)Hoping to read the whole thing during the formal read-a-thon hours.
Kindle eBook:
Above the Bridge by Deborah Garner (240 pages) Hoping to read the whole thing during the formal read-a-thon hours.
PG eBook:
Much Ado About Nothing by Shakespeare (246 pages) Likely reading Friday/Sunday as part of my extended read-a-thon.
Already Started.
Non-Fiction:
Enchantment of the Faerie Realm by Ted Andrews (216 pages) Likely reading Friday/Sunday as part of my extended read-a-thon.
Pre-read-a-thon update #2I'm on page 50 of Above the Bridge by Deborah Garner.
I'm snacking on a chocolate chip granola bar and vanilla cream cookies.
Ok, so my plan tonight is to make and eat dinner, take a nice bath (probably with an accompanying audio book), gather some light snacks and beverages, then read for a solid 3 or 4 hours before going to bed for the night. This is to kick start my brain into full read mode for the official start tomorrow 8am EST. #prereadathon I may get up a bit earlier than 8am and start early Saturday because I am busy for a good chunk of the day. I am going to a zoo an hour away from home with several friends. I will bring a couple books with me to read in between hanging with the animals. Maybe I will read aloud to the bears or otters or something. If I can convince someone else to drive, I may be able to squeeze in some kindle time, too. Then in the evening, I should be free and clear to read until my eyes start to droop. #readathon
I do have to sleep because I have plans Sunday night. I will likely read a bit more on Sunday morning/early afternoon, just to cool down from Saturday. #postreadathon
pre read a thon updateOn page 190 of Devil's Garden by Lance Tick.
And that's a wrap for my pre-reads. Be back in the morning for the official start.
OK, so I started strong on Friday doing a sort of pre-read-athon to get ready for the real thing. I was busy with other plans for a good portion of Saturday, but I read in the morning for a couple hours while getting ready for the day. When I got home Saturday late afternoon, I was planning on reading half the night, sleeping a few hours and finishing up early Sunday morning. Instead, I fell asleep super early Saturday night after not reading too much more and Sunday was pretty much a total wash. Oops...
So far I have read some of Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie and some of Wolves by C. Gockel. #readathon
My plan for April 2018:Harry potter #7
Don't ask me why I never got to it before. I read the first 6 a while ago.
I may sneak in a bit of audio book between chapters and when I take food breaks.
While my focus is on Harry Potter, here is my full list for the readathon. I won't finish all of them, but I plan to dip into them from time to time during the event.
Only the Truth by Adam Croft
Shell Scripting by Jason Cannon
The Chronicles of Lumineia Omnibus by Ben Hale
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
Silent Songs by A.C. Crispin
South by Ernest Shackleton
The Exploits of Brigadier Gerard by Arthur Conan Doyle
White Jacket by Herman Melville
I went to bed early last night so I could be up early this morning. I have an eye Dr appt this morning, so I will have to take a break in a bit. Breakfast with the audio book then on to Harry Potter.
