Same here, although I haven't read it since I was a kid.
I'm still working my way through my Wheel of Time re-read, I'm up to The Gathering Storm. I made it through the slow books! Doing them on audio helped, although now I've transitioned to reading the rest of the series.I tried listening to The Spirit Thief but was pretty bored by it, despite Luke Daniels being the moderator. I put it to the side for now, maybe I'll try again later.
Listening to Leviathan Wakes instead. Only about 10 minutes in so I have no idea what I think yet.
Hoping that you'll love LW, Dawn. I'm working on Jarka Ruus right now, as well as the audio for A Gathering of Shadows. Lots of distractions have made my reading slow down quite a bit, but I'm enjoying it when I can.
Soon I plan to tackle the rest of the Expanse books.
Started reading Unnatural Creatures the other day, but I'm not big on reading short stories straight through and I got a bit thrown by the fact that Gaiman selected the stories, but he didn't write (most of) them... So I'll probably be reading that off and on, and I started The Dark Days Club for my train read.
Yeah, they kinda made that look like a Gaiman collection at first glance.

And the one Gaiman story I've come across so far is one I'd already read in 'Fragile Things'.
I hate that. I thought it was Gaiman's too for a long time, but someone (probably Nicki) corrected me a while back. And thus it moved way down the TBR. But I really hate when they recycle stories. Unless it's a hard to find one, just collect it once. That's it.

I just started Flamecaster (Shattered Realms #1) by Cinda Williams Chima. This is one I've been looking forward to forever, so I'm very excited!

Just begun Erebus, follow up to Endeavour. Very different approach, but enjoying it so far.Nicki, I've read Three Kingdoms and Journey to the West as well. I started Story of the Stone (aka Dream of the Red Chamber) but must admit I found it so boring I stopped.
Which translation is it you've got? The four volume box set? [I've got that, but also read one of about five/six volumes of separate paperbacks. Different translation, but the total cost must be about £100].
Pricey, but sometimes it can be worth it (got a lovely six volume double boxset of Edward Gibbon's The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire).Incidentally, the first chapter is almost completely different to the rest of the book, more like a prologue than a chapter one. In style it's probably halfway between Three Kingdoms and Journey to the West.
I'm reading The Country of the Worm by Gary Myers right now, on Kindle Unlimited. Myers is one of the writers/authors of the Cthulhu mythos, but his works are more fantasy than horror based.
As for the printed books, I'm reading Karl Shuker's Alien Zoo by Karl Shuker. Crpytozoology and fortean zoology are even more fascinating if the person that writes about these topics actually has a scientific education and knowledge.

Desperately trying to finish Snow Crash. It's interesting, but I've just had so many things on the go reading wise that it keeps getting pushed to the side. On the home stretch now and then I should be able to get back into Discworld with Jingo.
I'm nearing the end of the Farseer Trilogy - I'm almost done Assassin's Quest. After I'm finished, I'm looking forward to getting back to Deadhouse Gates.
Just read the sci-fi story, Mono no Aware, which was a 5-star read for me. It's available to read online for free too!I intend to read Bleach, Vol. 3: Memories in the Rain next.
White HartI liked this book,the characters were well developed and it was pretty detailed as for as the world goes.
The magic was like druidic magic.Which is nice because it's just a little different.
So,yeah it was a good book,not great,but I'll continue the series.
Started the The Emerald Atlas recently. I'm not very far in, but it's not really grabbing me.But, then, I'm not sure anything would right now as I'm kinda tired and slumpy...
Aww, I liked that one. I thought it was cute. Although I read it like 5 years ago when I was a much kinder person. LOL
Still reading Leviathan Wakes... I don't dislike it, but at the same time I'm not loving it either. I think it's just not my thing. It's very action heavy and not so much character driven, which is the opposite of what I normally like. I'm more than halfway and I'm not bored enough to DNF it, but I can tell it's not going to be a high rating. Bummer, I really hoped to love it.
I finished The Angel Maker by Stefan Brijs. Interesting. Horror from Belgium. A great combination for two of my challenges (genre and country) this year.

There is some good character stuff in there, but it might not show through all the action and stuff at this point.

Read Calamity by Brandon Sanderson
Alright! Calamity opens with excitement and we meet a new character. Now upon all the action and meeting the new person(who is pretty cool,by the way).
We learn of a new city that the Reckoners will make home base for a while.Then there's a little down time while they are getting to said city.But then it picks
up again when they are in the city and making and executing plans.
I did enjoy Calamity even though it had the slow area.New character/characters and new city,it was still a fun read. :)

So far, it's good! I'm still in the OT, though. I have to say, I don't remember the Book of Ruth quite in this way.

Thanks for mentioning this book - just downloaded it on my eReader :-).Other than that I have made my way through Conventions of War and Dead Man's Debt, both the third and last installment of Sci-Fi series that started off very well and ended dull and uninspired :-(
Finished Bleach, Vol. 3: Memories in the Rain this morning. The Bleach story is becoming more fleshed out but I still don't get Ichigo's dad's wackiness!
I finished Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro just recently and its been sitting in my brain. Looking back at my reads this year it has the same underlying plot concept as The Unit by Ninni Holmqvist. The Unit was a little faster paced, but Never Let Me Go is just makes you look at things on so many levels. Definitely a winner for me. Both worthwhile reads in the end.And not just because I got to cross off Japan and Sweden this year for countries visited. :P
My fantasy reads for this month were the Hero's Guides series by Christopher Healy. While marketed as children's books, these are great, IMHO. Funny all the way through. If you liked Princess Bride, you will enjoy these. I had a chance for lots of catch up reading during 2 months of caring for relative home from hospital. Much of that was editing a series that I had scanned and that went quite well. (The Australians - by William Stuart Long). I should have all 12 books done before end of summer and then Mom can start rereading them. :)
