Jeez guys I'm sorry I keep disappearing. Idk what's up with me but I literally haven't finished a book all year ... I keep getting books from the library and then returning them without reading them. *deep sigh* Well anyway, just got from the library:

A Conjuring of Light (Shades of Magic, #3) by V.E. Schwab

Hopefully I'll actually finish this one!

Ashley Marie Speaking of present parents, I just picked up Benjamin Alire Saenz's new one from the library yesterday, The Inexplicable Logic of My Life by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

This is only my second book of his after Ari & Dante, but it's shaping up to be similar in its inclusion of awesome parents :) The Hate U Give was good for that as well.

Finishing it either tonight or tomorrow :) I've really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to Imprudence. I'm drawing similarities to Finishing School and Parasol Protectorate but it's not unexpected as they're all in the same universe. Rue is my favorite character, aside from the adults (or older adults, since she's at least 20). I think PP spoiled me with Alexia, Conall, Lyall and the rest, because part of the time I find myself more interested when they all show up vs when the MC and her crew are off doing whatever they do :D But it's still a solid 4-star read.

I loved it, too! I finished it, started Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella , finished that, and am now reading Carry On by Rainbow Rowell .

I plan on getting the rest of her books eventually, but Fangirl is the only one I own. I checked out Carry On from my local library.

I loved Carry On and Fangirl - I listened to both on audiobook and both sets of narrators did a great job IMO

I still need to read Carry On ... I was on the fence about it, but I've heard such good things about it so I might still give it a try!

Anyway I just finished:

A Conjuring of Light (Shades of Magic, #3) by V.E. Schwab

Wow, I loved it! Maybe it's just because I was in a reading slump for so long, but I found myself super invested in it ... It was really fast-paced and intense, and I enjoyed it a lot. Definitely my favorite of the series. :)

I think next I'll be reading:

The Foxhole Court (All for the Game, #1) by Nora Sakavic

A friend recommended it to me recently & I remember hearing good things about it a while ago, so I'm gonna give it a shot ... plus the ebook was really cheap so I just bought it for my kindle. ;)

I think you will love Carry On Brigid. It looks like I need to rethinking my skipping of the Shades of Magic series since you and Elora (and several others) liked it. I have seen others reading that All for the Game series - keep me updated on your thoughts on that please :)

Caraval is freaking amazing! I read it, and absolutely loved it! It is definitely well worth the read. Has anybody read Carve the Mark?

message 1094: by Ashley Marie (last edited Mar 29, 2017 05:46PM) (new)

Ashley Marie Skipping Carve the Mark, I've heard enough bad things about it and I wasn't a fan of Divergent besides.

I've been binge-reading the Death Note manga, finished 2 and started 3 today and I need the rest of the series IMMEDIATELY bc it's amazing.

Carve the Mark is WAY better than Divergent, and I hated the last book in the Divergent trilogy. I loved Carve the Mark, and want to read it's sequel. I started Death Note, but could not finish it. I tried.

message 1096: by Elora (new)

Elora Mitchell | 578 comments Alright! I've finished a few books over the last few weeks. Here goes:
Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson soooo sooo sooo good! Heartbreaking and horrific, but so well-written.

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie The ultimate who-dun-it. I loved every moment of this one.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe (Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, #1) by Benjamin Alire Sáenz So many feels. This is one of the best coming of age stories I have ever read!!

The Raging Quiet by Sherryl Jordan I had a really hard time getting into this one, but about halfway through I was pleasantly surprised. Not my typical read, but the author included some interesting things that we don't normally see.

Rebel Wing (Rebel Wing #1) by Tracy Banghart Honestly, I was really disappointed by this one (and the rest of the series). I thought it was going to be fantastic, but it turned out to be really sexist.

A List of Cages by Robin Roe So good. A fantastic story of finding out who you are, friendship, and awesome parents. Warning...severe physical abuse occurs.

The Weight of Feathers by Anna-Marie McLemore I picked this one up as a fluff book, not expecting much from it. I was surprised. It's a twist on Romeo and Juliet, with some magical elements included, but there was NO insta-love.

And finally, one of the BEST books I've EVER read:

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield I won't give anything except: if you love books, if you love reading, this book is for you.

Ackkkkk I saw ALLEGEDLY at the library this afternoon and if I didn't already have 4 books out I would've snagged it. Soon though!

SO glad to hear you loved Ari & Dante!! One of my favorites :)

Good to hear about Thirteen Tale, I might put that one on my birthday or Christmas list this year!

A&D was the best! Loved And Then There were None when I reads it in college - I want to re-read it now though to see if it holds up.

I am reading only cozy mysteries right now Queen of Hearts Queen of Hearts (Her Royal Spyness Mysteries, #8) by Rhys Bowen - which is one of my all time favorite series - and Off the Books Off the Books (Novel Idea, #5) by Lucy Arlington

message 1099: by Ashley Marie (last edited Mar 31, 2017 05:18AM) (new)

Ashley Marie My library pile is out of control. This is what I've got out right now:

The Inexplicable Logic of My Life by Benjamin Alire Sáenz City of Stairs (The Divine Cities, #1) by Robert Jackson Bennett Hunted by Meagan Spooner Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer, #1) by Laini Taylor There I Go Again How I Came to Be Mr. Feeny, John Adams, Dr. Craig, KITT, and Many Others by William Daniels The Umbrella Academy, Vol. 1 The Apocalypse Suite by Gerard Way The Umbrella Academy, Vol. 2 Dallas by Gerard Way

I'm roughly halfway through City of Stairs and ten pages into Strange the Dreamer as of last night. *flails*

I have all three of the Mirrorworld trilogy, All the Light We Cannot See, and The Hate You Give.
There is no way I can read them all before they'll be due.
