Finders Keepers--04/30/16

Book Dragon 🐉 📚 | 187 comments SECOND QUARTER CHALLENGE: CLEAR THE SHELVES
Duration: April 1 - June 30, 2016
(4/12)
As we move into the second quarter of the year, it's time to clear our shelves! Many of us (myself included) have shelves full of books that we haven't read. In my case, it's my goal to read as many books from my "owned-but-unread" shelf as possible. Others don't buy books, but have to-read lists that are getting out of control.

Either way, pick a goal and try to clear that many books off your shelves!

Feel free to make this your own - you can add extra requirements, like using a random number generator to select books like our randomizer challenge. You could limit the challenge to books you actually own, or tackle the books that have been on your to-read list the longest.

3 Stand Alone Novels - Already Owned
1. A Will and a Way - Nora Roberts

Read a Trilogy
1. A Real Cowboy Never Says No (Book 1) Wyoming Rebels - Stephanie Rowe
2. A Real Cowboy Knows how to Kiss (Book 2) Wyoming Rebels - Stephanie Rowe

Finish 3 Books I Previously Started and Never Finished

4 Free Books - Already Owned
1. Submerged - Dani Pettrey -Alaskan Courage Series

Rachael (allons-y-bookworm) | 4779 comments In addition to reading books from my overflowing bookcase, I have taken the opportunity to literally clear my shelves by donating a few books that I read ages ago, won't be returning to and are taking up valuable space.

I loved Dark Currents! And yes, I've read just about everything Jacqueline Carey has written, except her non-fiction book. She is one of my favorite authors and I've never been disappointed by any of her books!

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just literally cleared a book off an actual bookshelf (own) - Jemima J: A Novel About Ugly Ducklings and Swans by Jane Green. This book was alright. It was a touch slow to start, and the random switching from first to third person throughout the narrative was a bit odd. It could have been accomplished better by just separating those sections on the page a bit more. Overall, it entertained me on a long flight, but I don't know if I'll be rushing to read anymore Jane Green right away. 3 stars

message 333: by Megan (new)

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just took a book off my Prime shelf - The Best Medicine by Tracy Brogan. This was a sweet book about a busy doctor trying to find love. There were definitely a few funny moments, but the ending felt extremely rushed, and the male character lacked development. Overall, entertaining for a long flight. 3.5 stars

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed another book on my Library shelf - The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. Wow, this was a powerful memoir! The writing was well-done, and I enjoyed the small chapters that captured particular moments. My only criticism was the beginning and end seemed to lack connection. Definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars
