Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed my second Kindle book - Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline. Excellent book about an unfamiliar and chilling period in history. At first, I wasn't sure how the author would tie in the current and historical narratives, but the stories blended well. My only criticism is that the ending felt rushed. Definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars

Bobbi (schadenfreudian) | 628 comments Took me a while (note to self, make sure I get to this every day! Haha) but I have everyone updated. Welcome to everyone that signed up!

I finished The Deadly Real Estate Affair and gave it 1 star. This is like the third or fourth book in a series so not having an editor is no excuse for me at this point.

Do not go see the movie. It is so different. I had to read the book a second time just to get the love back.

I'll admit I haven't done too well with not buying books - bought a couple of ebooks on special and the splurge I was talking about earlier. Oh well - at least I'm slowly getting other books off the shelf.

message 173: by Megan (new)

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed my first book off my Random Word shelf - The Sisters of Henry VIII: The Tumultuous Lives of Margaret of Scotland and Mary of France by Maria Perry. At first I enjoyed this book. Learning about the lives of Margaret and Mary from a young age was fascinating. However, the book went a bit off track when Henry came to power. The author tried to show how Henry's hand was ever present in his sisters' lives, but instead of focusing on the sisters', the book focused rather on Henry. I understand that money was important in Tudor times but a lot of details could have been edited out. Interesting but not my favorite Tudor history. 3 stars

The Man Who Loved Only Numbers. Ok this one has been sitting on my shelf for many YEARS! Could I be accused of being one of those wankers who likes certain books on their shelves? Potentially yes....but then I believe that books choose their time....and sometimes we purchase them well ahead of this time...and this book chose now....but why oh why did it wait so long? I thoroughly enjoyed this bio of the (even by maths professor standards) eccentric Paul Erdos. May the SF curse me....if you have the slightest interest in numbers READ THIS...

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just cleared a book off my Audible shelf - A Desperate Fortune by Susanna Kearsley. I really enjoyed this book, both in audiobook and kindle format! The past and present sections were blended together well, but each section was also strong enough to stand on its own. My only criticism was I wanted the present to the know the ending of the past. Definitely worth reading! 4 stars
