Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments Rolled 5+6=11
Start: Pennsylvania Railroad
End: Atlantic Avenue
Task: Read 4 books from the 2010 shelf because Amanda owns :/

Just my luck. Holy moly. At least I've got this same spot and doing the same thing in another game, so I'll be completing them all together. Probably be at least another month before I get off this spot, and by then all of the remaining properties'll be gone, and I'll own nothing.

Books I'll be reading:
The Summoning (Darkest Powers, #1) by Kelley Armstrong The Red Pyramid (Kane Chronicles, #1) by Rick Riordan Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1) by Becca Fitzpatrick Incarceron (Incarceron, #1) by Catherine Fisher

Greta Book 2 of Rent on Illinois is complete!

Book Read: The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Live by Douglas Adams
Date: 4/17/16
Rating: 3 stars
How it fits: one first page of re-read list, shelved 267 times as re-read

Review: I had a love/hate relationship with this book. Many of the parts were laugh out loud funny, but it also really annoyed me. I do enjoy humor in fantasy, but this was just so over the top. I don't think I want to read the rest of the series, but I'm glad I gave it a try.

Just one more book to go to complete my rent. I will probably read the next Harry Potter.

message 403: by VampAmber (new)

VampAmber | 622 comments So, I just finished last week's book. Yays!

VampAmber Owns Indiana Avenue

Read: The Miserable Mill by Lemony Snickett (page 46 of the 5 Stars shelf)
Review: I didn't think it possible, but this series is actually getting even more depressing as it goes on. Still want to strangle every single adult for being that stupid and/or cruel. Gyah! It's somewhat frustrating to read these at this point, because the only characters I don't hate are Violet, Klaus, and Sunny. I'm going to keep going for now, but I'm not sure if I'll make it through all 13. Those poor abused, neglected kids. And even worse than Count Olaf is Mr. Poe, gladly sending them into danger every book, scolding them for pointing out that it's obviously Count Olaf, and then scolding them again for not telling him sooner when they discover that it is Count Olaf in the end of each book (even though they already told him, usually repeatedly). At this point, I blame him more than the Count for all the childrens' suffering. *sighs*

So, I'll go roll my dice now for this week's book, and put that into my next post so it'll be easier to keep track of.

VampAmber | 622 comments Maddison wrote: "Does someone own it?"

Naw, but I have a bunch of books I need to read asap, so the two books I gotta read to buy it hafta take a backseat for a wee bit. And sadly, I don't think any of the books I need to read were on the list. :(

Also, I've not had much time to read lately, because real life keeps butting its head in, saying "Amber, your friends insist on hanging out with you. Amber, you have appointments you need to go to. Amber, there's a bunch of non-reading stuff you have to do. Amber, I'm being annoying, aren't I?". Stupid real life... *grumble, grumble*

message 407: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments Gosh I know what you mean about life :p Mine's all like 'Maddie, you're seeing your boyfriend this weekend, so no reading time. Maddie, you're working this weekend, so no boyfriend or reading time. Maddie, you have uni today, so no reading time. Maddie, you have uni homework and assignments to do, so no reading time. Maddie, you gotta help your mum, and you've gotta watch tv, and you've gotta blah blah blah blah'.

message 408: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments And yeah, I've got some challenges that are totally on the back seat just because none of the books I've planned on reading fit the requirements.

This one is a reread for me. And of course I loved it! I hated angsty Harry, and Umbridge of course...but this series is amazing. And they keep getting better! I can read these again and again.

Book 2 – Complete!

This one is another reread for me! Been awhile since I last read it. I really loved the whole take on the vampire thing in this one. Such a different view of it, and I love the whole magick thing added to it all. I need to continue reading these books, because I never finished this series! Looks like I'm going to be doing that soon!

VampAmber | 622 comments Just found out over in the Monopoly player discussion thread that the books don't have to be on the first 100 pages of the list, it just has to be on the list, period. Suddenly, this game became a LOT less complicated and hard for me. Yays! (though I now wish I hadn't wasted so many hours scouring through the lists each time, trying to find anything that I actually wanted to read that was on the first 100 pages)

I'd be reading right now if I wasn't currently in a stand off with a spider on the window sill by my arm chair (I really want the spider to crawl to a spot where I could easily squish it, but it just doesn't want to cooperate for some reason).

VampAmber | 622 comments Finished 1 of 2 books for Ventor Avenue

Read: Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones (shelved as "Library" 148 times)
Review: Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! It was so different from the movie in so many ways, yet it still managed to be equally as awesome (and considering the movie is one of my absolute favorite movies, period, that's saying something). I plowed through over 250 pages in one go because I just couldn't put it down. And I immediately requested the second book from the library. I loved the writing, and the setting, and all the characters (and I definitely liked where the black knob on the door went way better in the book than the movie version). It was by and far one of my favorite books to have read. Five+ stars. ^_^

Pico de gallo and chips sound good? Cuz I would trade a lot right now for some good quality pico de gallo (I had a friend who's mom used to make it from scratch and it was quite possibly the best tasting thing ever).
