This one was filled with MAGIC and illusion and wonder. I actually really liked this one. I loved the concept, and the characters, and the setting. Nicely written. I will be reading the sequel at some point!

Chance Roll: 1 + 1 = 2
Chance #2: Advance to Illinois Ave
Illinois Ave: 1 Book from Re-Read Shelf.
Changed my mind on which book I was going to read, and started on
instead. It was on page 60 of the shelf, and I've been dying to read it for the last few months. This gave me the perfect excuse. 37% in and I am absolutely loving it. ^_^
Maddison wrote: "So do you just look through 60 pages of the shelf?"My psuedo-OCD demands that I go through all 100 pages for each property, and write down the ones already on my TBR list that I have easy access to and feel like reading. I actually like doing that, though, and making the list, so for me it's no big.

That's a lot of searching, but I like the search too!

That is what I do, too.
Most shelves, I hit at least half a dozen books in the first few pages alone. I keep going just in case something better pops up. Mostly it's curiosity. Also, I work best with a lot of choices.
Haha I only normally read from my library list, which is so big :p I never have time to read from books I own lol.
For example for the Popular Fiction shelf, it was going off of books tagged "fiction." So I found that shelf for my book, saw that it was tagged 414 times and then I went to the list and skipped numbers until I was by all the books tagged fiction 414 times. Then I easily found it.
How'd you find that shelf? What if the book's not on that shelf? And why'd you need to find it if you already knew it was on the list?

you can look at the popular shelves, see that 414 people tagged it as "Fiction." Then go to the shelf list: https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/...
Skip forward until you see books that have been shelved 414 times and you'll see it.
Yeah I've tried that before. But there's so many pages of shelves, do you just have to look through them all?
When I opened the list from the Game's link, I can see that the books on the list are tagged "Fiction." So I know what tag to look for. I guess you could skip that last step of finding on the list, but it makes me feel better to see it on there for sure. if someone has a better way, they can correct me!
Maddison wrote: "Yeah I've tried that before. But there's so many pages of shelves, do you just have to look through them all?"I just kept skipping and only looked at the first book or so to see how many times they were being tagged, which is listed right next to the author name. I knew to skip a lot with Changeless because the number 1 book was tagged 1340 times.
Maddison wrote: "How do you know Changeless wasn't much?"If you can open that book, you can see that on the right for genres, Fiction is tagged by 414 people, so a lot less than the 1340 that the top book was tagged.
Sorry if I'm not explaining it well! Maybe Maya can do it better!
No that makes sense, yeah, but what if it's not at the top of the shelves list? Like how do you even know if it's on that shelf at all?
Maddison wrote: "No that makes sense, yeah, but what if it's not at the top of the shelves list? Like how do you even know if it's on that shelf at all?"To see more shelves, then you click on that link right below those main page genres "see more shelves." It will show you ALL the shelves that book is on. You can search through them all to find the one you are looking for.
Ah alrighty, thanks. If it's tagged in a lot of, say, 2012 shelves, do we need to use the specific one that's listed?
Maddison wrote: "Ah alrighty, thanks. If it's tagged in a lot of, say, 2012 shelves, do we need to use the specific one that's listed?"I believe it does have to be that specific shelf from the Property you're buying.
States Avenue is now owned by VampAmberJust finished The Summer I Became a Nerd, and I absolutely loved it! Usually, when it's a YA book about a girl "discovering" geekiness, it ends up either painting the girl as a total jerk (I never got into this stuff before, because it looked weird), or it puts down all kinds of geekiness ever (I never got into this stuff before, because it's all weird and stupid and eww and anybody that does it is......). This one, for once, actually gave a legit reason for the cheerleader to be getting into all this stuff for the first time: she's always liked comics and such, but in 6th grade, she made a cosplay of her favorite superhero and was publicly humiliated by her best friend and the rest of the school, so she hid all her fandoms because she was afraid of getting hurt again. Having been a teenage girl before, and especially having been one that got bullied for being seen as different, I can 100% get behind this as a perfectly good reason to hide all of that. Bravo, author lady. And the best part was, not only did it make sense while still being respectful to geek-kind, it was also a really good story and had a really cute YA romance going on throughout. Five stars, all the way. The only bad part is that I don't think the sequel is out yet. *cries*
Rolled: 6 (4+2)Landed On: New York Avenue - Must Read Shelf - Must read 1 book to own. Must read 3 books if the property is owned.
It's 1am and I'm all kinds of sleepy, so I'll be figuring out my book for next week later today, and most likely won't actually start it until Friday (I still have one to finish for the Mario challenge by tonight, so that'll probably be all my reading time today).
Greta wrote: "That's what I did and it really helped."I did that after I got through about 10 pages, lol. Now I will just try to remember that from the start of my searches.
Maddison wrote: "No that makes sense, yeah, but what if it's not at the top of the shelves list? Like how do you even know if it's on that shelf at all?"Just try to gauge your book. In my case, I was looking for a few books that happen to be in a series. My property required a shelf called Books I Own. Well, I started looking at the shelf and I noticed that book 1 for some of the series showed up right away but then I came across book two for a series where I needed to read book one but book one hadn't appeared on the list for a few pages. I figured, if people owned book 2, they would likely own book one but I spent 10 pages looking for that book and it didn't show! Finally, I went to the book's page, clicked "see top shelves", typed in my browser's "find on page" option: 'books I own' and clicked the search arrow in the browser and found those words on the screen pretty quick.
Like Greta, I looked at how many times it was on that shelf, so I went back to the shelf and skipped pages until I got closest to the number where my book placed on the list. Once I found it, I made a note of it in my thread here for my planning purposes, at the end of page 3.
'Finally, I went to the book's page, clicked "see top shelves", typed in my browser's "find on page" option: 'books I own' and clicked the search arrow in the browser and found those words on the screen pretty quick.'Is there a way to search for shelves among the shelves it's listed under? Is that what you said you could do?

Man I hope I don't get too far behind in this challenge too :/"
Even if I finish my book this weekend (I'm hoping to find one I've already got but even though it's #1 in a series, it's not showing on any of the first 15 pages for some reason, unless I overlooked it) I won't be rolling again until Friday.
