Amanda (zmobie) | 159 comments Fridays or Mondays are when most of my Challenge stuff is done, so rolling on one of those days sounds like it would work out well.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) I can edit the spreadsheet, yay! I'm going to customize my column with colors as I complete tasks.

Setting a schedule for Friday rolls is a great idea.

message 53: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments Yeah Friday rolls work. So does that mean we should be rolling again tomorrow?

Holy moly Maya, you read so fast! So does that mean I now need to read 2 books because you own it?

message 54: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments Don't worry it's rent-free for me :p

Q: Say we roll the same number and are on a property we need to read 2 books to own.... The one that reads them first and post owns property and the other has to read 3 books since they are on a owned property( or is that rent free that time)?
A: The person who reads first and posts owns that property, but since you were both there at the same time, it's a rent free land for the other person. However, that person has to finish reading and post the reviews that they were doing to try to win that spot. Just because say you beat Jenne, doesn't mean Jenne then gets to roll right away, she has to finish whatever she was reading and post before she can move on.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) I had a thought about the spreadsheet -- do you mind if I add a row at the top for just our names? And then our spaces can go beneath that? So, we could have like you have it Roll 1 would be the ones we did yesterday, then Roll 2 would be next and so on.

message 56: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (zmobie) | 159 comments Do we also need to do a small review when we finish our book?

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) Amanda wrote: "Do we also need to do a small review when we finish our book?"

According to the rules we do. I don't know if we do that in here or if we can opt out of it or what.

S'what I thought. Just making sure.

message 59: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments I usually review my books because they count for other challenges which need reviews. I never used to do reviews :p

And what do you mean by the spreadsheet, Teresa?

message 60: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (zmobie) | 159 comments I think Teresa means adding one extra row at the top so that our name is in a separate cell than the space we're on.

message 61: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (zmobie) | 159 comments Can I add an additional sheet with the properties, tasks, and who owns it?

message 62: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments Ah yeah that makes sense. I'll do that now.

message 63: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments There :)

message 64: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments Go for it! Does that mean that we won't need the tracking posts on this thread?

message 65: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (zmobie) | 159 comments Alright, I'll do that. :) I don't know. We could have both, but if everything is all in the spreadsheet, it'll be easier to check?

message 66: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments Yeah, just assuming people remember to update it themselves and have it saved somewhere.

message 67: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (zmobie) | 159 comments Okie, made a start. Just need to fill the rest of the tasks, and the community chest/chance options. How does that look?

To be fair, it's a short-ish middle-grade book. I'd be much more impressed with myself if I read War and Peace that quickly.

message 69: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments I'd be impressed with myself if I read War and Peace in like two weeks :p

How come you only joined this one, being one book a week?

message 70: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (zmobie) | 159 comments Because she's sneaky and is playing more than one game. XD And a challenge addict.

message 71: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments And yeah, that looks good!

message 72: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments But she's on her second roll already, and we only just got this challenge up yesterday :p

message 73: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (zmobie) | 159 comments Maddison wrote: "And yeah, that looks good!"

Okay, great! I'm filling in the shelf tasks now. :) But I can always change things, too.

message 74: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments I don't really read books specifically for challenges. I just read them and hope to get lucky.

message 75: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments I have no idea how you can be bothered to do all that :p Handy though, knowing what other people need to do for their tasks. Not sure why that's needed though, but good job :D

message 76: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (zmobie) | 159 comments <_< Being a part of AMMP....most of my books have just become challenge books that I hope to fit in other challenges. :P

I can read as fast as I want on the other one, so I think it should be okay. Also, seconding the challenge addict. :D

message 78: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments Haha alrighty :p I haven't even started my St Charles book, so there was no way I was going to win.

Bwahaha, because I find it easier. I like working on spreadsheets.

message 80: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments Ah okay haha.

Also, when someone's in Jail, do you only roll once a day, and after the last roll (if no doubles) do you get to move? Because, on another Monopoly I'm doing, we get in Jail and then take our first roll on the same day, and then on the second day we roll twice more, completing our total 3 rolls for doubles. And if we don't get doubles on the second day we get to roll.

message 81: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (zmobie) | 159 comments I think I read that you can roll twice a day. So you roll, and end up going to jail. You can roll once more to try and get out. Then you have to wait till the NEXT day, and can roll twice. If I understood correctly.

message 82: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments Yeah that's what I think too. And then you need to wait until the next day to move?

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) Amanda, that spreadsheet tab looks awesome!! Thanks for taking the time to do that. I think it'll be a lot of fun to look at it to see the tasks, rather than having to scroll up to the task list over and over. I love the ease of the drop-down system, too!

Thanks, Teresa! No problem. :)

Exactly what I was thinking. Still filling it out. :) But almost done, I think. Just have to put in how many books need to be read for a couple of the tasks.

message 85: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments What you mean by drop-down list?

message 86: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (zmobie) | 159 comments Under where it says Own, there's a tiny little arrow. If you click that, it has a drop-down list with all of our names. Just click the proper name when someone owns a property.

message 87: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments Oh cool, so you just add the person's name, rather than typing it in?

And the Rent books, is that how many books you need to read if you land on a property that someone else has?

message 88: by Amanda (new)

Yup! The Rent books are how many you need to read to pay "rent" to someone else. I've put how many books you need to read in each of the task spots.

message 89: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments Yeah I saw that, thanks :) Man 5 books on a dark blue for rent! That'll take me years!

message 90: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (zmobie) | 159 comments You're welcome. I hope that makes things easier, so we don't keep having to go back to the first page of our thread and see which task/how many books/rent, whatever. All right there in the spreadsheet. :)

I know, 5 books for rent on a blue. Eep!

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) Amanda wrote: "ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) wrote: "Amanda, that spreadsheet tab looks awesome!! Thanks for taking the time to do that. I think it'll be a lot of fun to look at it to see the tasks, rather than having..."

AND I LOVE the color coordination with the real Monopoly board squares!! You are a spreadsheet maven after my own heart. :D

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) Maddison wrote: "Yeah I saw that, thanks :) Man 5 books on a dark blue for rent! That'll take me years!"

LOL! It gives me hope that our game won't be over in the blink of an eye. I love how each collection of properties grows in rent just like the board game. And I love that it will take us awhile to play this. It's a marathon, not a sprint. And yet, it won't be nearly as boring or annoying as a real Monopoly game that would take as long to play as it will for us to finish, hehe.

Yes, brilliant. You went above and beyond what I had planned to do, lol.

Hehe, I haaad to! Because Monopoly.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) So, just because I don't feel like trying to read the rules right now just to find this info at a quick glance, we have to pay rent (i.e., read 2 books, 3 books, etc, depending on the rent cost of each spot) in order to roll and move forward, correct?

Yes, I'm believing so. But you just do the rent for an already owned space, otherwise, it's however many books are need to buy, then roll and move on.

Right, my question was for landing on an owned property. Forgot to specify that.

I have been sitting here instead of reading my Life book! Shhh, don't tell Abbie, lol. I'm determined to finish before the morning update. I hope your dogs sleep in late, lol.

message 99: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (zmobie) | 159 comments Thanks, Greta!

Ahaha, Teresa, I'm sure they will! XD I got lucky and was able to get my Life book out of the way. But it felt weird getting it done super quick! It threw off my whole week. XD

message 100: by VampAmber (new)

VampAmber | 622 comments Just looked at the spreadsheet again. WOW! This is going to help SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO freaking much. Heck, the non-us-owning parts'll even help me in my other Monopoly game. Thank you so much!

*goes back to reading her book, cuz she's only 2 chapters in*
