Elizabeth GeorgeI read this when it first came out in 1988, 30 years ago. Wow.
Enjoying the re-read. I do remember how all of the characters met & their back stories but I don’t remember the mystery at all :)

Sourdough by Robin Sloan which is a lot of fun."I picked that up from the library today, enjoyed his first one Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore which I think was the first ebook I ever brought....many years ago

Ace wrote: "Now you have me wondering what my first ebook was...."I remember mine, it was Sleeping Around: A Couch Surfing Tour Of The Globe by Brian Thacker. I enjoyed it (and the experience) so much I emailed the author!
I have just picked up our mod pick book of the month -
Esme's Wish by Aussie author Elizabeth Foster.Still reading Fairway to Heaven as well - one is my at home book and the other is my take to work to read at lunch book :)
And I've just started the members choice book -
Stars Across the Ocean by Kimberley Freeman and am thoroughly enjoying it!

I've just started The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa I have to get through this one quickly as it's due back at the library on Saturday and I can't renew it due to other holds
I'm currently reading Elmet by Fiona Mozley
- this was on the Booker Prize shortlist in 2017. Quite enjoying it so far!
Currently reading The Six by Anni Taylor & listening to audiobook What She Knew by Gilly MacmillanBoth are excellent!
Started a couple of challenge reads: The Whites by Harry Brandt and Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead by Brené Brown
Picked up a deliciously light and fluffy paranormal romance -
Bear's Mail Order Bride by Candace Ayers.

My goodness you are in for a treat. Get your tissues ready.
Ryan wrote: "I just started 2016 Booker winner The Sellout, by Paul Beatty. Part way in and it is very funny."I was not able to finish this one, are you still enjoying it Ryan?
I am Ace, but it's very dense. I keep having to re-read whole paragraphs. It's very clever. I hope the story is good too.
Ryan wrote: "I am Ace, but it's very dense. I keep having to re-read whole paragraphs. It's very clever. I hope the story is good too."Yes, it was a difficult read for me I had a lot going on in my life at the time, I must try to read it again soon and seen if I can get a better feel for it.
I started reading Six Ways to Sunday by Karly Lane yesterday. I'm flying through it. Very enjoyable. What a great author this lady is 😊
I'm reading The Jester by James Patterson and Andrew Gross. I was expecting a contemporary thriller but surprisingly it's a historical thriller set in France during the Crusades. Lots of burning of villages and mass murder of villagers in the pursuit of holy relics!
Carolyn wrote: "I'm reading The Jester by James Patterson and Andrew Gross. I was expecting a contemporary thriller but surprisingly it's a historical thriller set in Franc..."Thanks Carolyn I have added this one :)
I am "reading" (listening) to my very first audio-book.
by Anh Do.I have seen some of his work on TV and my son has read a few of the "Weir do" books, but apart from that, I didn't really know much about him.
I am 7 chapters in (1hr 56min) and loving it. Anh is reading his own book and is really making his story come alive. I can happily recommend this book, and BorrowBox (used by the council library) for e-books and audio-books!
Happy Reading (or listening) :)
Brenda wrote: "I'll be curious to read your review Carolyn. I was daunted by the page count!"It is taking me a while to get through Brenda, but is easy reading. Not a lot of historical detail and I think most of the characters are fictional. The plot is not very complex and it doesn't have a very authentic medieval feel - but then it was written by thriller writers and not historians!
Ace wrote: "Carolyn wrote: "I'm reading The Jester by James Patterson and Andrew Gross. It's a pleasant read but not very historically accurate, however a lot of GR readers have rated it highly. Guess I'll wait to the end to decide!

Patterson is usually easy reading with short chapters. Thanks Carolyn :)

Welcome to audiobooks Brad. I love them. I'm also addicted to BorrowBox.
I'm listening to Into the Water by Paula Hawkins such an unlikable, depressing cast of characters so far!
Ace wrote: "I'm listening to Into the Water by Paula Hawkins such an unlikable, depressing cast of characters so far!"Yes, I listened to that as an audiobook, I can remember getting confused at first because it had so many different characters/voices but really enjoyed it in the end (once I got my head around everyone!)

I'm nearly halfway now so I think all of the characters have been introduced thankfully, I just need to work out what happened.
Just over halfway through The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley and it's such a gorgeous book! Really enjoying it!
I picked up
The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan - Opened the first page to put my bookmark in - and 2 chapters later made myself put it down so I could start work!!!A very good sign!
