I stumbled across this one while looking through what Bolinda's "BorrowBox" had in it's Historical Fiction shelves. Synopsis drew me in. :)

I am in the middle of of one that is actually by Aussie authors The Soldier's Curseby Meg Keneally and Thomas KeneallyI had wanted to read it for some time and it finally came into the library.So, far it is living up to my hopes and expectations.
I just finished The Circle by Dave Eggers. The blurb itself seemed to be interesting to me, and it was on sale for $9 to I gave it a gander. I'm not "dissapointed" by it, but I was expecting a little more. The whole book is engaging in the way it highlights social media, the internet, and the power of those two as they are formed by one company, but to me it felt like the author was trying to force his point a bit too much. Yes, I understand that the issues he brought up are important, especially in this day and age, but to write a book where every page seemed adamant on giving me an opinion, felt a little too much.
I don't know. I'm still processing. I'm sure there are lots of people that like it! I gave it a 3 out of 5, since my interest peaked at about 10% into the book, and then slowly faded.
I'm reading and enjoying Voyager, but because it's such a brick, I read it for a day, then read something else, then back to that....about to start Journey to Munich
Brenda wrote: "I read and enjoyed The Governor's House some time ago :)"That looks interesting too, that might have to go on the TBR pile.... :)
Marianne wrote: "I'm reading and enjoying Voyager, but because it's such a brick, I read it for a day, then read something else, then back to that....about to start Journey to Munich"I've heard some good things about Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series Marianne, are they worth the read?
Currently reading Looking for Uncle Joop: A Long-Lost Story from Nazi-Occupied Holland and enjoying it. It's a true story about the author's quest to discover what happened to her mother's brother during WW2. I'm learning a lot about the Netherlands resistance that's new to me, as well as Aletta Steven's own emotional journey as she learns the truth.

So Kylie, I think that's an affirmative?
Listening to 1st to Die by James Patterson & Maxine Paetro audio book &
Reading Black-Eyed Susans by Julia Heaberlin
Today I started The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen. This won last year's Pulitzer. Like A Brief History of Seven Killings, it is about the CIA (so far) and set in the seventies (so far). So far it is pretty good.
Just finished readingSee What I Have Done debut novel by Sarah Schmidt, Australian author. Picked up from library couple days ago where was on waiting list. Excellent murder / psychological thriller story based on actual event that took place in 1892. The story is told from the point of view of a handful of main players in the story, and for all but one chapter, the story is set over 2 days in August, in 1892. Appropriate back story is worked in where necessary to keep lucidity and all in all it's a real page turner that is hard to tear oneself away from.
Reading Liverpool Angels: A gripping saga of love and bravery during the First World War by Lyn Andrews......and listening to Katie Mulholland by Catherine Cookson audio-book.

I've just started The Son by Jo Nesbo. So far, it's very good. The book is originally published in Norwegian, and I'm actually reading the Dutch translation because I want to brush up my Dutch(!) so I can't comment on the English translation, but I recommend this author's books.

This evening I began Charles Dickens' Great Expectations. I started reading this in high school. I remember enjoying the beginning but just didn't get around to finishing it. Jaggerth and cag-maggerth have stayed with me.
Phrynne wrote: "Sarah wrote: "I've just started The Son by Jo Nesbo. So far, it's very good. The book is originally published in Norwegian, and I'm actually reading the Dutch translation because I ..."Thanks Phrynne! I think the translator's work is almost as important as the author's.
Starting a new audio book by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro.
2nd Chance The second one in the Women's Murder Club series.
Really enjoying Prince Harry Boy to Man: A Novel, I think anyone who liked William Kuhn's Mrs. Queen Takes the Train will like this one.
Changed my mind again and started Scared Yet? by Jaye Ford since she's an Aussie author and I've been waiting for it for a long time!
Brenda wrote: "Forgotten by Nicole TropeIt's really good!"
And the TBR mountain goes on and on! =o)
I'll get it with an Audible audio book credit so I can get to it sooner rather than later. I'm going to start working on my audio book collection since I'll be recovering some muscle strength with walking now.

"A bookworm's prerogative to change their mind is it not? ;)
Oh, and yes my TBR mountain would rival Mt Everest! lol And most likely will grow at an even faster rate now I've got you guys! :)
I started reading Rush Oh! this morning, and I must say I've really enjoyed being introduced to the playful and intelligent pod of killer whales on World Oceans Day!
Oh good! I'm happy to have a bookworm's prerogative as an excellent excuse for wishy washy decisiveness! =o) Thanks Kylie! I feel so much better!
Starting The World According to Bob: The Further Adventures of One Man and His Street-wise Cat by James Bowen

I have read all the 'Bob' books and went to a cat rescue charity screening of the movie. Love ❤️ Bob and James.
Eyes Like Mine by Sheena Kamal. I am totally out of touch with new books as I have been in hospital since the 29th of March and have had no access to a computer. Any recommendations would be appreciated.My sister bought me a mobile phone which I am still learning to use. My lovely library has allowed the Home Library Service to deliver books to my bedside even though the hospital is in another council area.

That's no good Margot - I hope you feel better soon. And as Owl says, a good way to find what we have liked :)

Oh Margot, you poor thing. I hope you feel better soon, and that you're back home as soon as possible. *hugs* And that's awesome that your library goes to that amount of effort for you!

Bahaha!! Aww you're very welcome my dear! :)
About to start From Liverpool with Love by Lyn Andrews;
and;
continuing my listen of Katie Mulholland by Catherine Cookson via Bolinda's Borrow Box via my library.
I'm re-reading Tripwire, a Jack Reacher book by Lee Child. I find this author's style comforting. Reading his books is like coming home to an old friend. There's a ballad-like quality, I think, in the way he repeats certain phrases and utters assurances even while havoc is breaking out around the characters.
