I bought a small, red, hardbound copy of Silas Marner by George Eliot that was printed sometime in the late 1800s - for 50p! It's very yellowed and a bit musty, but other than some slight water damage and fading of type on a few pages, is in good condition. It has been read - but carefully as the book will open to pages easily but has not been dog-eared or had the pages bent.PS I learnt something new today. Op shop = charity shop.
I received
Whitsunday Dawn by Annie Seaton from the publisher in the mail yesterday - woo hoo!!Love her books - have got this one on the read while I am on holidays pile :)

I got The Rules of Backyard Croquet by Sunni Overend. I started reading it and was almost shocked by the fact the character sent a TEXT. Ohh!! Most of the books I read are all set before the digital age (or in a galaxy far, far away), and my first thought was What?!? People in books don't send texts, hehee.
Just received a copy of City of Lies by Sam Hawke from Random House UK.This is the debut novel of Sam Hawke, who lives in Canberra, Australia and the first book in her Poison Wars fantasy series.
I am looking forward to reading this and providing a review.

What a fabulous birthday present! My son Malachi adores the Divine Comedy, he first read it at age 12. I was thinking about getting him one for his 27th birthday in September.
I see you got a special new translation. Is it a hardcover? Have you read any yet? I was thinking of getting the Barnes and Noble edition.

It's a paperback. There were a few editions on the shelf but this one was the prettiest :) Haven't started it yet, since I'm already reading another 5 or so haha. 12 seems a rather young age for this one! So pleased he enjoyed it though!
Krystal wrote: "12 seems a rather young age for this one! So pleased he enjoyed it though! ..."Malachi is very clever, and picked it out and read it on his own. Although he is now nearly 27, he still can't remember the order of the alphabet or the months of the year, but he's a voracious reader, he inhales books like air.
I'm glad you have such a nice book! Happy birthday x

Yes, at Woonona they have someone looking at publish dates so 2018 books are $7, 2017 books $5, but hey, it's charity and still a LOT cheaper than new.
