Still waiting for my reserve for that to come up Marianne:) In the meantime I borrowed The Bertie Project as an audiobook. It is so good. The narrator is a well spoken English man with a talent for Scottish accents. Very easy listening:)

message 2360: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9980 comments Yes, I thought you'd have this one on reserve!

Of course:)
Although I do have a few back numbers I have never read in the Bertie series I think I am totally up to date with Isabel

message 2362: by Diana (new)

Diana (secondhandrose) | 73 comments Never got into the Isabel series but do love the Precious Rambotswe books. Close to up to date on those. I saw Alexander McCall Smith at the Writer's Festival one year; such a lovely man.

message 2363: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9980 comments the Bertie books are "must own" for me, although I do wait until they come out in paperback. But then, so are the Mma Ramotswe and the Isabel Dalhousie books.

I had a discussion with a a Scots lady once who corrected my pronunciation of Dalhousie: Dal hoo see

I have seen him speak a couple of times and he is such a nice man. Very clever too.

I've been going back and forth with The Black Book. I might check it out. It's always interesting to see him write something that isn't part of a series.

Weird but good Ellie. I enjoyed it very much. You need to like weird though:)

message 2376: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9980 comments Surprise from Allen & Unwin for me too, I thought it was another unannounced Bookstr win, but instead, a win in their Get Hooked on Charity Norman competition. So a copy of The Secret Life of Luke Livingstone. After a quick look, I don't think I have this one, but until I do my TBR tidy up I can't be certain.
But hey, it's always nice to win a book!!!!
If I have it already, it will be because someone gave it to me at a swap meet. Then this one might end up as a Mystery Book at our next get together.....
