Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9976 comments I just picked up my reserve The Chemist from the library, all 518 pages of it.

I guess if Stephenie Meyer has been spending time writing this, she's not working on sequels to The Host.... :(

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9976 comments At least we get an extra week over the hols to read: the library is closed including their return chutes, so they automatically extend the loan period by a week.

Sally906 | 87 comments My copy of Who Killed The Bride? Butterfly House #1 by Lily Malone Who Killed The Bride? Butterfly House #1 by Lily Malone arrived in the mail today - super chuffed!!!

And it say's #1 - so this means there will be a number 2! (?)

I hadn't realised that the author lives slap bang in the middle of Margaret River wine region - no wonder wine/ grapes and wineries feature in all her books!!

Actually Brenda, we heard a little about James Patterson and 'bookshots' at the RWA Conference in Adelaide in August. It is a new thing for him - they are supposed to be $5 reads and less than $150 pages - something like that, and outlets are in places like Service Stations/Grocery stores as much as bookshops. And yes - romance is a line of it. James is (I think) looking for authors to collaborate with. I don't think he writes the romance, but they are like: "James Patterson Presents" - and the romance line.

Oh that's interesting Lily. Thanks for sharing that information. He certainly is broadening his reading outlet isn't he! The ones I've read so far I've mostly enjoyed. But I do pick and choose - don't want to read all the titles as some don't appeal :)

His agent apparently convinced him to branch out into different genres for the BookShots series. He was very reluctant at first but eventually gave in as he saw it as an opportunity to reach a wider demographic of readers. I know that he is a strong advocate for encouraging kids and young adults to read so that was probably the main hook for him.
