Recently Purchased/Acquired book/s - part 2
I've brought two books home from the Melbourne lunch today; Truly Madly Guilty (mystery book swap), which I'm very excited to read, and Please Do Not Disturb (a lucky dip courtesy of Elaine) which sounds right up my alley. Plus the lovely little magnetic cat bookclips from Nat. Thanks guys xx
Had a wonderful time at our luncheon today. Brought home a few books as well. Breathing Under Water by Sophie Hardcastle from the mystery swap (thanks to Andrea). I was so happy to receive this book. I read her non-fiction book about her battle with mental illness. It was heart wrenching book, but the writing was exquisite!
Ghost Girls by Cath Ferla from Tracey - Looking at a couple of reviews it sound wonderful, raw and gritty...just what I like.
And a gift from Elaine....Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty. So excited to read this book :)
Thanks ladies :))
Thanks to Suzie for my mystery book at the get together today. One I haven't seen before and look forward to reading. Hinterland
I must say I
do
like Booko's alert feature! I asked it to let me know if the paperback of The Sugar Planter's Daughter: A beautiful heartbreaking novel of love, loss and hidden tragedy dropped below $21, and got an email this morning telling me Book Depository has it for $19.36: Ordered!

I will have to check that out Marianne I didn't realise they had that feature, awesome.
I always go to Booko first when I want to order a book. They have saved me a lot of money along the way:) I was not aware of the alert feature though.

Haven't heard of this feature, Marianne... But does sound good. Read up on the creater of Booko, he designed it for his own use, and his wife told him to get it out there on the internet. Clever lady.
Phrynne wrote: "I always go to Booko first when I want to order a book. They have saved me a lot of money along the way:) I was not aware of the alert feature though."Me too :) Librarians do too.
Today from my library I picked up an audio cd Guilty and for 20c (care of Marianne's 5 star rating, and I knew she'd have read it as it was by Nick Hornby) Juliet, Naked. Lovely hard cover. Bargain!
I have added a few new books to my pile!!!
The Mage and the Magpie by Austin J. Bailey - took my eye
It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover - many of my bookie friends are raving over this one
Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas - read the first in the series, loved it so much immediately bought this one and is up next
Was lucky to get this signed today, the author spoke at my daughter's school today.
by J.C. Burke. She said it was a nice relaxed chat.
Last chance before the GR get together for the book whisperer to maybe happen upon a book someone else wants: moderate success in that department. Mission Australia, Salvos, Second Chance and Smith Family were patronised.Survival In The Doghouse $1 (Humour always welcome)
Why Men Are Necessary and More News From Nowhere $1 (Humour always welcome)
Changes $3 (wishlist)
The Crossing $4 (wishlist)
and for Veronica I is for Innocent $1 it's the little size you want, and I did look for O in large PB but the only size (the one I have myself as well) is the smaller HB, bigger than PB, smaller than trade PB, very annoying.
I had some happy book mail, from goodreads and TRR On the Blue Train by Kristel Thornell
and
Acts of Love by Talulah Riley
I finished it late last night Michelle and it's a definite 5 star read from me! I'll publish my review around the 20th :)
I decided to bring home another one of James Patterson's abandoned $5 book children - Kill Alex Cross.

Well done, Michelle
And I received my copy of Jailbreak: 25 Unforgettable Australian Prison Escapes by Wendy Lewis from TRR and the publisher, looking forward to this one ;D
I've just been doing some online shopping in Book depository - needed to buy one for an upcoming book discussion - but two more just jumped into the checkout basket!!!Anyhow - winging their way from the UK are:
September by Rosamunde Pilcher
Joy for Beginners by Erica Bauermeister
Looking for Mr. Good Witch by Joyce LaveneNot a bad haul - the first two have been around for years but my library doesn't have a copy - couldn't find 'legal' ebook versions - so bought them.
The last one just took my eye :)

Joy for beginners sounds good. Looking forward to your thoughts on this one.
I like the sound of all of those Sally :) But your first one - she's an author I've very much enjoyed in the past...
Brenda wrote: "I like the sound of all of those Sally :) But your first one - she's an author I've very much enjoyed in the past..."I actually read September waaaaaay back in the late 90s - but is for a face-to-face discussion so grabbing another copy.
Love most of her works :)
I just picked up Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. Not sure what to expect but I'm looking forward to it.
I've picked up both Never Never by James Patterson and Candice Fox as well as one of his "Book Shots" - Chase. I can definitely feel the book munchies coming on.
Brenda wrote: "LOL! You'll be all Patterson'd out Elias ;)"I'm sure Patterson's also Zanbaka'd out from me buying and reading his stuff.
The last two I picked up from different library branches are these two Fool Me Once and Back Spin. Coben overload which isn't bad.

Elias wrote: "You're not worried about being Coben'd out?"Good point actually Elias, I don't know how I managed to do two at once. I've also got a beta read and have only started another audio, so unless I keep renewing my loans, it may not even happen. As I said today, I love that there are worse problems out there. Though it is fun trying!
I'm overwhelmed by today's great day, and I just did a review. So I'm going to list my last few purchases, before today. The Speed Reading Book as I thought it might help with my studies, and Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops. I actually bought this as a gift but may hold onto.. not sure yet.
Veronica, very keen to see what you think of I'm Thinking of Ending Things. Great purchases at the bookstore too. The free one looks sweet.

You're welcome Marianne. I thought you may not see it straight away, but you are very good to your books so I should not be surprised. Well deserved title you hold being 'The Whisperer'!

A sad day for book lovers Marianne. I don't always get to go to my closest one but always a great day when I do go.
