Yesterday I received a parcel from Allen & Unwin. It contained
and
I'm looking forward to all of them, especially Hunter.
You beat me to it Brenda! Just requested it (I've been stalking Bookouture almost daily!). Can't believe she's up to book 10 already!
I know! How does she write two books like that a year?! I know of only one other who can write so many - Nora Roberts
Brenda wrote: "
Dead Memories by Angela Marsons is on NetGalley - #10 in the Kim Stone series :)"I just got approved! I am very surprised. I was declined for book #9 and my Netgalley stats are worse now than they were then.
Brenda wrote: "Good job Em__Jay :) Have you read #9?"Not yet. I started the series out of order and after not getting #9, I decided to go back and read from the start. I better hurry up and hopefully I can catch up before the publication date. They're fairly quick reads.
the book whisperer went out on Thursday looking for a copy of Goodwood to take along to the author talk. At Lifeline in Corrimal they were having a holiday sale, adult books 3 for $2, kids books 5 for $2, so for $4 I came out with:Shelter
Moon Over Soho
Whispers Underground
Blood Rose Angel
Gone For Good
The Cull
At Salvos, for $4 each:
Every Breath
Four Respectable Ladies Seek Part-time Husband
At Vinnies:
The Hideaway $3
and at Mission Australia, for $1 The Verge Practice
so a bit like going to Officeworks or Bunnings: you might not find what you wanted but you come out with six other things, LOL

Marianne wrote: "the book whisperer went out on Thursday looking for a copy of Goodwood to take along to the author talk. At Lifeline in Corrimal they were having a holiday sale, adult books 3 for $..."There’s a reason you got that nickname, Marianne.

You are the one who gave to me, Dale :)

Brenda wrote: "From Allen & Unwin - Widows' Revenge by Lynda La Plante who will be touring Australia in February!"Oh you are so lucky Brenda! I can't wait to read this.
Sharah, I didn't know about it until I received it today! But I loved Widows so I suspect this one will be the same!
Brenda wrote: "Sharah, I didn't know about it until I received it today! But I loved Widows so I suspect this one will be the same!"The original book series was released in the 80's and 90's and I've been trying to get them for ages but can't find them anywhere. Then Linda La Plante decided to re-release them at the same time as the movie remake. Will probably have to wait another year for the final installment!
Today I received a parcel wrapped in special wrapping paper with sticky tape - just like a Christmas present or birthday present. And when I opened it up - very carefully so I didn't damage the special paper which was covered in an aerial view of New York - there was an uncorrected proof ARC of
The Secret Runners of New York by Matthew Reilly
How exciting is that!!!!! lol

Brenda wrote: "Today I received a parcel wrapped in special wrapping paper with sticky tape - just like a Christmas present or birthday present. And when I opened it up - very carefully so I didn't damage the spe..."I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW GREEN WITH ENVY I AM RIGHT NOW.
I've used capitals to try and emphasise my emotions XD You are very lucky, Brenda!!!
I'm a huge Louisa May Alcott fan - absolutely loved her Little Women series (and read some of her other books). Mum's copy of Little Women is really old - sewn spine falling apart, green material cover, colour plates and black & white illustrations - just gorgeous. we need to find a book binder (reminder to self as I forgot). So I went to buy another copy of Little Women meanwhile, and saw this Annoted Little Women, decided it would be interesting to read the notes, see the photos, etc of the author and her home, her life - received it in the mail yesterday and OMGosh! It's GORGEOUS! It's hard cover, as big & thick as a..well, big, thick, hardcover Bible, and I am in love all over again! But it's so big I need to plan a few days off from doing anything just to read it. Too big and heavy to lie in bed, and too thick for a quick read.
Oh, very special indeed!I never knew Alcott was a nurse for a short time in the Civil War until she got sick. She was also involved in the suffrage movement. I have heard many times that Jo from Little Women was based on Alcott.

I read Little Women for the first time about 7 years ago then watched the Susan Sarandon movie version.
Library reserves - The Book Ninja by Ali Berg and An Unexpected Guest by Anne Korkeakivi for February group reads and from the new books stand Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty and Early Riser by Jasper Fforde.
From the op shop $1.50 each
Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley
The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster
And the best score for $1.50 Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata
Diana, the first Little Women movie I saw starred Winona Ryder and Kirsten Dunst, and it was really good. Just recently ABC has had a 3 part series of Little Women, and that was also close to the book.
I was at the library to collect my reserve Lady Cop Makes Trouble and I checked out the sale books: for $1 total I got Life Mask and Why We Die. The last for Phrynne as I see that Hornsby library doesn't have this one...
I just received from Simon & Schuster -
Under the Midnight Sky by Anna Romer - and I'm looking forward to reading it!
