Staci | 1071 comments The Denise Hunter book is part of a series (Barefoot Summer is the first one) so not sure if you want to start in the middle of a series. :-)

Nope, I'm very OCD about series. Need to read it in order :-) I have a few others also with fire in but still need to read the books before those in the series ( Firethorn (Discarded Heroes #4) by Ronie Kendig Trial by Fire by Terri Blackstock

message 103: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (dizzy_booknerd) | 249 comments I'll be reading Down the Hidden Path (The Roads to River Rock, #2) by Heather Burch for the "fire" theme. :) Also, should be finished with my fruit book either today or tomorrow so I'll be posting that review soon!

Staci | 1071 comments Great Dizzy! Shae started her fruit novel last night.

Glad I'm not alone. I was bad at one stage, as in, if I find a new author, that I want to read all their series, but then also as it was published (because they usually get better) - but luckily over that

Danielle (dizzy_booknerd) | 249 comments Can't believe I forgot to post this! (and coming along nicely with my "fire" book also!) :o)

Theme/Cover: Fruit
Book read: Split Image
Finished: 4.6.16
Rating: 4 stars
Review: I really enjoyed this book. It was a murder mystery that stared police chief Jesse Stone investigating the murder of a couple of mobsters in his Massachussetts town. He has the help of his friend and private investigator Sunny, who is also investigating a case where a young girl joins a commune, which ends up being something much more sinister! I really liked the characters and the plot of this book - this was the first book I read in this series but now I'll definitely be checking out more! :)

Staci | 1071 comments Awesome Dizzy! We are 3/4 of the way for our fruit stamp. Shae is working on hers and plans to finish it this weekend.

message 108: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments Awesome!

Did we get our Free space stamp yet?

Still to start my Fire book, but since we can't really get bingo in the next round I'm trying to finish library books first ☺

message 109: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Just followed up on the free space stamp. I didn't realize it hadn't been added.

Whispers in the Reading Room by Shelley Gray
Whispers in the Reading Room (The Chicago World's Fair Mystery #3) by Shelley Gray
Read: April 14-16
Four Stars

Review:
Like the others in the series, the final book of the Chicago World's Fair Mysteries is about women in less than ideal circumstances.

In Whispers in the Reading Room, Lydia is in desperate financial straits. Her mother is intent on her marrying well. Sebastian began with a difficult childhood. Together, they share the love of books.

I enjoyed Sebastian and Lydia's story, however, found parts of it be unrealistic.

My favorite in the series is the second book. I recommend the entire series for fans of historical fiction.

Thank you to Thomas Nelson Zondervan and the Fiction Guild for a complimentary copy of the novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

No problem Shae! I think it will be a few rounds before it is absolutely critical to finish the category for bingo - then it should probably fall in your summer vacation?

I checked - dependent on categories called, it will be at least 3 rounds before a team can call bingo (and that is if the specific categories are called). So think it would be a while.

Staci, My Heart Remembers is my favorite Kim Vogel Sawyer book. Highly recommend it! Whichever you choose, I hope you enjoy it.

Review: I really loved this book. It was a sweet (albiet sometimes slightly unbelievable) story about a man and woman who grew up best friends, and the girl was in love with the boy, but he left quickly after they graduated, breaking her heart. Years later, she has a twelve year old son who was adopted, but it was an open adoption and she has a lot of contact with him. She reconnects with the father, Jeremiah, and after a tragic accident occurs, her and Jeremiah are forced to confront their past and move forward. I will definitely be reading other books in this series.

Staci | 1071 comments Nice Dizzy! We are close to our fire stamp.

message 141: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (dizzy_booknerd) | 249 comments Yay! The thing that stinks is that both fire and heart don't do anything to help us toward a Bingo haha - our card will be all over the place! :-p

message 142: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments Lol - I know! Luckily the other teams are in similar situations.

message 143: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments If we finish heart, we need Dog and Child for a bingo. So it will still be at least 3 rounds if we are lucky and the category gets called.

All the teams need 3 categories to call bingo and almost every category needed is different per team ☺

message 144: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments I'm glad it is taking a while. When we played the first round of hidden book covers, it was over super fast! I'm good with the pace.

Now...what book do I have for child?

message 145: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments on your TBR....

Child of the River by Irma Joubert

My options will be Between Sundays by Karen Kingsbury Covenant Child A Story of Promises Kept by Terri Blackstock

message 146: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments Oh I see these are also on your TBR Take a Chance on Me (Christiansen Family, #1) by Susan May Warren All God's Children (Peacemakers, #1) by Anna Schmidt The Midwife by Jolina Petersheim A Cup of Dust a Novel of the Dust Bowl by Susie Finkbeiner The Road to Terminus by Catherine Leggitt

Sorry - snooping on your TBR - I'm delaying having to release payments for work - soooo boring

message 147: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments You crack me up! Thanks for the assist!!

I knew I had Room for Hope, but already read that one.

I really liked Covenant Child.

message 148: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments No prob! Much more entertaining than checking bank account details!

I had covenant child on my TBR for a while now - a good excuse to get to it ☺

message 149: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Oops! I haven't read Covenant Child. I was thinking of The Atonement Child by Francine Rivers.
