Danielle (dizzy_booknerd) | 249 comments I'm reading Maddie's Gift of Mystery (A Rockcrest Cove Cozy Mystery Book 5) by Emily Page for the "gift" theme - it works on both levels b/c it has gift in the title AND on the cover! :)

Sarita | 1386 comments Almost done with my free space book It Had to Be You (Christiansen Family, #2) by Susan May Warren

Didn't have much reading time this week - worked during lunch and after hours as well! Hope to finish it this weekend - it is a long weekend for us :-)

message 59: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Enjoy the long weekend! What is the holiday? Did you change your clocks forward an hour Sunday?

message 60: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments It is human rights day on Monday.

No, we don't change our clock like the rest of the world. We actually should - in summer the sun is up at 5am and only down after 9pm, but in winter we have darkness from 6pm till 7am (so we should actually move the time during winter - your summer - times but we don't).

West Coast USA is now 9 hours behind and East Coast 6 hours.

message 61: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Interesting on both the holiday and time change. The spring forward change is tough the first few days. It is 5:00 am currently for me so I think it is 2:00 pm for you right?

message 62: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 1386 comments 12pm here now. About 7 hours difference betwwn us and Texas

Human rights holiday started in 1994 after Apartheid since a lot of the South African did not have any rights before then (they couldn't vote etc).

message 64: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Thanks Sarita! I knew it was 8 hours before the time change. I went the wrong direction. ☺️

The Hearts We Mend by Kathryn Springer
4 Stars
The Hearts We Mend (Banister Falls, #2) by Kathryn Springer
Kathryn Springer's Banister Fall series continues to be delightful with The Hearts we Mend. Her writing style is smooth as glass. I've read each of the novels in the series in around 24 hours.

The Hearts we Mend is Evie's story. After being widowed at age 25 and raising her son as a single mom for 12 years, it's time for her to live for herself. It was rewarding to watch Evie bloom.

The main male character, Jack, is rough at first appearance and a perfect match for Evie.

I look forward to reading more of the Banister Falls series. The series is highly recommended for fans of contemporary romance.

Shipping to South Africa is almost $14 - will rather buy on Amazon Kindle then

message 83: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (dizzy_booknerd) | 249 comments I'll be reading Split Image (Jesse Stone, #9) by Robert B. Parker for the Fruit category. :)

message 84: by Staci (new)

Staci | 1071 comments Glad you found one Dizzy!

Sarita, wow! $14 for shipping makes it not worth it.

Another one I might read is Beneath the Blackberry Moon by April Gardner. It is $2.99 for Kindle. Ironically, I just got it last night a few hours before the category was called. Not sure if I'll go with that or Stillness of Chimes.

Staci | 1071 comments Correction..Beneath a Blackberry Moon is the series. The title of the book is The Red Feather so it doesn't qualify.

The Red Feather (Beneath the Blackberry Moon #1) by April W. Gardner

A Stillness of Chimes by Meg Moseley

Review:
I love the cover and title of this novel. The title does have a meaning - love that!

The prelude which was set when Laura, Sean, Cassie and Tig were tweens fully pulled me into the novel .

I wasn't as engaged in the current day story initially. About 200 pages into the novel, I got pulled into Laura's world and really enjoyed the second half of the novel. The ending was spectacular.

I recommend A Stillness of Chimes for fans of Katie Ganshert.

Happy reading all!

Danielle (dizzy_booknerd) | 249 comments JUST finished my free space book!

Theme: free space
Book read: The Girl With No Past
Rating: 5 stars
Review: This book was excellent - started out slightly slow but about a third of the way in it picked up and i couldnt put it down! Its about a woman who has been through a tragedy in her past, and now she is being tormented by someone who knows what happened. She never knows who to trust, and the ending had a bunch of twists! Loved this!

message 96: by Sarita (new)
