I finished The Diviners and I loved it! It has all the glamour of the roaring twenties with a touch of supernatural, not too much, just enough to make it believable. I must buy the second one asap!I'll start with my Australian book today =)
Yay! So, is that it for Thailand?I'll have to read the Diviners. I've loved some of her other works, so I don't think I'd be disappointed.
Roseena wrote: "I just finished divergent if that helps ladies"Thanks Roseena, I'll message the Travel Agent and let her know we are onto Stop 3 :)
I've messaged the Travel Agent, but our points haven't been updated yet. However, we are on to Stop 3 - yay, welcome to Australia!
Caroline and Carol...have you got books, or is there difficulties getting them to fit? I'm sure we can make whatever you want to read work with a little bit of juggling.
If it's ok with everyone, once we each have our 8 reads locked in, then we can do a poll on how exactly we want to do stop 4 as well.
I decided to read Breath, which definitely works for T (author Tim Winton). Last time I looked at the list, it looked like that would work with everyone else's picks, but I'll let you know if I come across any names that could be used as alternatives.

Hi Elise,
I'm more than halfway through
by Nora Roberts, which could be used for R if needed.I can look for others if you need any other letters, etc.
Ok, cool, everyone has a letter, there's a spare A for anyone to fill in if they finish something :)I'm voting for spell it out El Calafate for the next stop, as Kiki made it so easy with her list :)
Kiki - I think I want to try something by Borges - should I read Ficciones or Labyrinth first, or does it not matter? Thanks x
I'm also voting for spelling out El Calafate. There are lots of recommendations that Kiki gave, plus, we have the option of reading something else if needed. I also enjoy having the spare letters; it gives me an excuse to read more. :)
Elise wrote: "Kiki - I think I want to try something by Borges - should I read Ficciones or Labyrinth first, or does it not matter? Thanks x"There's no reading order and both are equally good, so take your pick :)
Roseena - yes the detour is read a book that has been turned into a movie. Is that your vote for stop 4?
I think so far myself, Kiki and Rylie have voted for spell it out El Calafate for next stop.
Three books to go before we can move on to the next one :)
I just finished Breath for Australia and I will try to add it to the spreadsheet tomorrow! I vote for spelling El Calafate or Argentinian authors. I'm hoping to read The Museum of Eterna's Novel, but I don't have it yet, so subject to change!
Roseena wrote: "Yes that's my vote. It's one if easiest detour. We haven't done one yet."I spent quite a few hours making a list of several Argentinians authors and books, it'd be a shame let it go to waste :(
Oh I didn't mean to make you upset. I just didn't realize that this detour is the easiest one ,( plus we haven't done any) but this is a democracy vote. So it looks like your list will not go to waste.
If it makes you feel better I finally got to your list. I am adding some to my tbr.
That's why it's probably better to do spell-it-outs, it leaves it flexible for everyone! Do you think you could incorporate the detour book you wanted to read into one of the spell it out letters of El Calafate, Roseena? I can see why you want to do it, I think it's the most fun looking detour option on the list, and there's so many good book/movie adaptations this year!I was thinking maybe of personally doing one of the detours a bit later, as we have Spain and Portugal, which are pretty similar countries (I did rate Portugal > Spain when I visited!). But I can incorporate that into a spell-it-out :)
So I finally figured out which one of these books I want to read.If we're spelling out El Calafate, I want the C with
The spell out is not an issue I can always find books lol I just wanted us to do a detour for a change lol
But it looks like the spell out won
I'm done with my book! It took me some time because the writer uses sentences so long that I got lost at the end of some. One of the disadvantages of not being a native speaker, I guess :P
Just Isaboe to go for Stop 3!Have set up stop 4 for spell it out El Calafate as majority vote.
Have put your read in Rylie, and will email you a copy of the spreadsheet :)
If everyone can choose one letter to start with, and if your choice fills multiple letters, put that in the bottom table so books can be adjusted to suit everyone.
Can the last person to put their first book selection post when they have, so we know to fill up the letters as needed around the first 8 choices.
Hope you can find a detour option to fit the spell it out, Roseena :)

If everyone can choos..."
Thank you Elise! :)
Yeah, when everyone gets their first letter, when the first 8 are filled, I definitely want to know ASAP cause I can usually find another book and read it in time to fit another letter, but I can't keep checking the spreadsheet. Though Elise does do a lovely job of keeping me updated.

For what is worth, The Secret in Their Eyes was adapted into movie and won the 2010 Oscar for best foreign film :)
I'm done with my book for Argentina :) I won't take a second letter until everybody have chosen theirs.
I'm about halfway done with mine, and I'm loving the stories. He takes such ridiculous situations and makes them work beautifully.
Hi...I just moved house and got my internet back...took a bit longer than expected!Isaboe - can you let us know in the next 48 hours or so, how you are going with your Australia read...otherwise we can backfill with another read and officially move onto stop 4. And then pick a book for stop 4 as well, so the other letters can be filled in?
After that, we can fill in the other letters pretty quickly as most of you have already finished!
I got a little behind from getting lost in Moby Dick - omg that book is huge! But I should finish my book in the next day or two.
Do we want to open up the vote for stop 5? Its Aracuja, Brazil, or the detour is a book starting with the letter D.
I'm going to mix it up and vote for the detour this time :)
Soo....we wait 48 hours or so to see how Isaboe is travelling, and in the meantime start thinking about stop 5?
Hope that sounds good to everyone!
Hi all!I finished my book, waaay back on April 6th, got bogged down with other things, and completely forgot that I finished. Bleh! I was wanting to write a review for it, which is why I procrastinated on saying it was finished, and that's what made me forget.
I also vote for the detour. Finding a book that starts with D shouldn't be that difficult.
Ok...since we haven't heard from Isaboe, I just backfilled a book to finish Australia, and sent a message off to the Travel Agent.I entered your date read into this stop Rylie!
I changed my read for this stop, as my book is so hard I'm reading a bit at a time!
There's two L's to fill - please go ahead!
I haven't got completed dates for Carol and Caroline - are they done or still going?
Then we can zoom on to the next stop :)
I'm still going, slowly but surely. I don't think it's realistic for me to be done before Sunday, but I'll try to be done by then.
Woohoo! So we're done for this stop. Off to find a book starting with D, if that's what people are voting for. :)
Spreadsheet set up for Stop 5. Needs a minimum of 4 players to complete, and extra points for 7 players, and max points for 8.Maybe just post if you want to sit this one out, otherwise put your book in the spreadsheet?
I'll PM Isaboe and see if she is still playing - otherwise we can continue with 7, or get a hitchhiker?

Kiki - I know you haven't finished it yet, but let me know how you like The Diviners as well - it's been on my TBR for ages! And I am interested to see how you like Picnic at Hanging Rock - I remember we had to watch the film in high school - the music was so eerie!
Isaboe - I'm so happy you're trying Tomorrow, When the War Began - this series was basically the Harry Potter for my generation ;) - I've always had secret back up plans for what I would do if we got invaded like in the book...and I had a massive literary crush on Homer as a teenager!
BTW...
If anyone had a read for Australia that would have fit my R, but you had to adjust because I took it first - take it! I have to pick again as my boyfriend forgot to pick up the book for me ;)
