Book Synopsis:
This stunning debut captures the grotesque madness of a mystical under-land, as well as a girl’s pangs of first love and independence.

Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers—precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together. For now.

When her mother’s mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining an ocean of Alice’s tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice’s mistakes and save her family. She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own.

megan | 1492 comments I highly recommend reading The Moth in the Mirror (Splintered 1.5) as well. It gives a much needed back story that compelty changed my option of Jeb. I wouldn't have continued with the series other wise.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments I was going to read this one this month but not sure what day I'll get to it.

My friend just gave me this book like, 2 weeks ago, and I honestly don't want to read this alone. :)

Kelby *TwistedCactusReads* (twistedcactusreads) I just bought this entire series in ebook from amazon because they had it so cheap!! I can't wait to read it!!

My two friends said they hated the book because the romance was horrible. :/ Then there was another girl who is on Unhinged and she said it was amazing. I don't know who I'm siding with but I'll probably love the series. :)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments My friend liked the series, loaned me all three, the covers are beautiful. Pictures don't do them justice, the artist was quite talented and they didn't spare expense with the cover material. I hope to be able to start it soon, bit off more than I could chew this month on reading.

Karen (karen_stewart) I love to hear some opinions about this book, link me in!

Anita Reads | 1677 comments I have plans to read this book in March. I'll try and start the audio once I've finished the one I'm working on now. Then I'll try and catch up with your discussions.

Alright, so the buddy read has started! I believe I was doing it with Amy?

Certified Book Addicts | 1 comments Could i have a buddy please

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments I'm on pg 60. Hasn't fully grabbed me yet, a little surreal and confusing. Since I have the trilogy to read I'm hoping it sucks me in soon.

Anita Reads | 1677 comments I'm listening to the audio. I'm not super happy with the narrator, she sometimes has a very squeaky voice.

I'm about 75 % done with it already, and so far I'm not completely happy with it. There are some things that I like. Because I really like Alice Adventures in Wonderland, and that whole aspect works alright. I don't really like the main characters.

I finished the book yesterday night. If you wish to not have any spoilers, do not click the spoilers!

Corinne | 86 comments I'd like to read this. if anyone needs a buddy please PM me!!!!

Karen D | 785 comments Just finished this. I thought it was ok but didn't love it. Ultimately gave it 3 stars and I don't think I'm going to seek out the others in the series. Overall, I didnt like the romance, and found it really confusing since the motivations of the characters were obscured, it was hard to figure out what was happening and why. If you completely suspend disbelief, then it was entertaining. It'd make a good movie, to see the visuals of what was going on.

@Anita - I hate when the narrator takes away from my enjoyment of a book!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments I rated it 3.5 to 4 stars, finished it yesterday. Some parts about it I really liked - like the creativity and relationships - but I thought the beginning took too long to take off, and some of it was too confusing.

Nancy (nancyhelen) | 1469 comments I'm also listening to it on audio, and I understand what you mean about the squeaky voice. It is awful how a narrator can really destroy one's opinion about a book. I've had one experience where the narrator's voice was so irritating that by half-way through I hated the main character so much I could barely listen any more. I reckon I wouldn't have had just a strong reaction if I'd just read it instead.

I'm a couple of chapters in and I'm enjoying it so far. Interestingly, I am reading Alice in Zombieland at the same time, so I've got two Alice variations going on at the same time. I suspect I am enjoying this one more as Alyssa isn't the same irritating 16 year old as Alice is in the Zombie book. Alyssa actually comes across quite well, with both sense and maturity (indicating that I'm not feeling the same way about the other Alice!). Perhaps the comparison is clouding my opinion...

Kay Kay | 1794 comments I am about half way through this book and I am loving it! I think that it is a great adaptation of the Alice in Wonderland stories. I love that the MC(view spoiler) I can't wait to see how it all works out! It is way better than Alice in Zombie Land in my opinion!

Kay Kay | 1794 comments I finished it and really liked it! I can't wait to read the next one. I hope they make it into a movie!
