I have a few as well. I'll see what you may need for the current travel and add them. BRB

I read Soulless last month ( 26 March), which I think will also work for alternate history.
Zee wrote: "Ok so are we agreed on alternate history for the next stop? I reckon I can manage that one."That's what I believed they were going for. I just haven't had the chance to get to my book since I've been sick for the past week. Hopefully I can get to it soon since I'm behind in a few of my challenges :(
Berit - just in case you missed it, we just need you to post any book for this stop (the spell-it-out is complete) and then we can move on. I think we've been here over a week now, although I can lose track of time...I don't think anyone has said so far that they can't do alternate history. I haven't really read any steampunk before although it has been on my radar, but it seems to me that they mostly work. I'm really enjoying Ink and Bone as well, so I'm glad that the next task made me pick it up sooner. It's shaping up to be a 4 star book. :)
Hope you feel better soon Carmen. :(
Looks interesting Zee. :)I've added a new sheet in for our next stop - thanks Berit! We're off again. :)
Surprising I was reading The Aeronaut's Windlass and it is a steampunk- alternate history book. I just finished it so I'll add it to the spreadsheet. Yay :)

I posted this awhile back but here is what is explained for the alternate history task per the Q&A.
● No fantasy worlds.
● Must occur on earth.
● Our history must be different in a major way (i.e. Hitler rose to power, the South won the Civil War)
I had read Soulless & Blameless but I couldn't see where history was different in a major way (as technology wasn't approved per the last challenge) & that this wasn't a fantasy world given the vampires & werewolves.

Oh, these goals that are open to interpretation can be difficult. I can see where you're coming from Elle, and we all interpret things a little differently, it's only human after all. :)This is the exact wording from the FAQ:
It's an alternate history to the one we know. So one in which Hitler rose to power, or the South won the Civil War.
It's a different history from the one we know, and can only be our world (no fantasy places/worlds) though the genre could be anything as long as it's set on Earth and is different in a major way to what we know.
To me, a fantasy world means Narnia or Middle Earth, and Earth with vampires and werewolves is still Earth, not a fantasy world. It's ok if you don't agree with me on that! That wording could be a bit ambiguous - if any genre is allowed then surely fantasy set on Earth is allowed?
If the Industrial Revolution took place in a different way as I assume is usually the case with steampunk, then to me that is Earth and different in a major way to what we know.
But this is only my opinion, and I think the semantics could be discussed forever. Everyone sees things differently, and there are good arguments for and against.
I haven't read any of the other books to be able to say if they fit the goal. For me, if whoever read them thinks they fit, that's fine, especially as we don't have a captain or mods to make the call, and this challenge isn't really the same kind of competition as other challenges have been.
Most important is that we have fun and it doesn't become a chore - why most of us passed on reading about cowboys I imagine. ;)

All that was said was what "I" read, thought & interpreted. And it would have been silly & a total waste of my time to post a link for the Q&A if I didn't think it was open to interpretation. LOL! I'm just not a fan of wasting time so everything with me is literal. It's scary to think how much time could be lost implying things that get confused, twisted or just go over someone's head ;)

Sarah described it exactly how I had interpreted it. Since Soulless was labeled as steampunk, I took that to be an alternate history since the industrial revolution does not take place as we know it today. Of course, steampunk has a lot to do with technology so if you take away that aspect then there isn't much as far as altering history. I don't think the vampire/werewolf aspect should affect it because, like Sarah said, it's not set in a fantasy world, but ours.
At least that's how I interpreted it. If the steampunk technology aspect doesn't work for the goal and I can search for another book that might fit better. It just may take me a bit longer to finish.

I've been trying to spell out a person's name for a challenge and just finished with this one. I have an alternative history book I will start as soon as possible.
And Berit, I salute you on reading 11/22/63. I have that one on my TBR list and the size of it scares me. :-)
Oh gosh guys, I'm so sorry for falling off the ball a little here. I'm still around and I'm going to read my alternate history book next. Got slammed by work the last couple of weeks and have been struggling to make challenge deadlines all over the place!
Thanks for the update Zee. Hopefully your work will settle down and you will have more time to relax and read :)
Hi everyone. I've been so off for the past few weeks. If I need to change my alternate history book I have one that I can use that's tagged alternate history and then work on the girl dressed as a boy. I think that's where we're at. I'm not even sure. Hehehe
I've finally finished my alternate history book - it turned out to be a bit rubbish! Spreadsheet updated, sorry you all had to wait on me.For the next stop, I reckon we can probably do a spell out without reading any extra books?
I'm sure there would be enough books for the spell-it-out but I'm good with whatever the group wants.
Hi guys. I had a play around with the spreadsheet, and provisionally worked out where we were with a spell-it for the last stop. If we decide to go that route then we just need Berit and Zee to post a book each - one needs to cover the letter N and one can just be anything.(Actually we can probably juggle most things, so any letter out of SAN JOSE will do.)
If you want to go with the detour, then we have four books already read for girl dressed as a boy - we would need books from Zee, Berit, Carmen, and Holli.
I think this is up to you guys who would have to read something whether you want to or not. I don't mind either way.
I can use the same book for either girl that dresses like a boy or NI'm on the app so I can't link but the book is called Never Home
That's ok Berit, I've got it.So that leaves us with either any book from Zee for the spell-it; or books from Zee, Carmen, and Holli that work for girl dresses as a boy.
Up to you three which you want to go for. ;)
I might struggle to find one for girl dresses as boy, but I have plenty of read books if I don't need to cover a particular letter. Most recent is Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children - read 31/5/16, 4 stars
I just noticed I haven't updated my books list in a while. Oops. This will be in a couple of parts.

Several of the books listed were skim reads and others were audiobooks and why my list is long. And I'm not going to wait so long to list my books anymore.
Zee wrote: "I've updated the spreadsheet with my book, do we want to cash in as completed?"I vote yes :)
That means that we have completed our 8 stops and have 340 points! We did 4 tasks and 4 detours. I'll message the Travel Agent with our final score.According to the rules we could ask for another itinerary and go around the world again, or we can decide to finish our trip here.
For me, as WOBBLE is starting, (and I expect we've all signed up for that, right?), I'd rather concentrate on that and hang up my guidebook. What do you all want to do?
