Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments Hi everyone!! What are some of your planned reads for February?

message 5: by Gillian (new)

Gillian Murrell | 3686 comments hi Melanie I'm new to this do we chose or r we located 12 ?

message 6: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments It depends on how we want to strategize.

We could plan ahead and list books/descriptions we could complete. Then divide them up between us, so we all can plan our reads and know what we need to get done.

Or, we could just read and fulfill categories as we read books.

message 7: by Gillian (new)

Gillian Murrell | 3686 comments think we would be better to plan it from what i have read so far or we may end up with to many in some and not enough in others. i have also seen a mention of extra point depending
on the books you read do you know anything about that ?

message 8: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments I agree that planning ahead sounds like the better plan. :)

I think the extra point comes from buddy reads for books that are over 450 pages, but I'm not sure -- haven't looked into all the rules for this challenge yet.

message 9: by Melanie (last edited Jan 22, 2016 06:16PM) (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments Here are some of the books I plan on reading -- at least twelve of these books. Anyone want to buddy read some??

Siren's Fury (Storm Siren, #2) by Mary Weber Siren's Song (Storm Siren, #3) by Mary Weber Spelled by Betsy Schow The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith The Body in the Woods (Point Last Seen, #1) by April Henry I Am the Mission (The Unknown Assassin, #2) by Allen Zadoff One Last Thing by Rebecca St. James A Hope Remembered (Of Love and War, #3) by Stacy Henrie Undercover Bride (Undercover Ladies #2) by Margaret Brownley The Painter's Daughter by Julie Klassen With This Ring? A Novella Collection of Proposals Gone Awry by Karen Witemeyer Cold Shot (Chesapeake Valor, #1) by Dani Pettrey If I Run by Terri Blackstock Burning Proof (Cold Case Justice, #2) by Janice Cantore The Accidental Bride (A Big Sky Romance #2) by Denise Hunter This Quiet Sky by Joanne Bischof The Set-Apart Woman God's Invitation to Sacred Living by Leslie Ludy

message 10: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments Okay, I just read the entire rules and I think I finally get how this challenge works. We need to try and complete all four parts of the challenge by dividing them up between us (we don't have to do the tasks in order, so that's good!). We can complete the challenge parts four times total, but no one can do the same description twice.

So... how about we work on assigning descriptions?? There's 37 tasks, so hopefully we can all take at least seven tasks this first time through the parts. :)

message 11: by Gillian (new)

Gillian Murrell | 3686 comments we just need the other members of our team to join the conversation to get organised. There are a couple of books on your list i could get access to to buddy read with you Melanie most i have not read the 1st one but i can get, If i Run and This Quiet Sky i could also read the 1st sirens book and buddy read Sirens Fury

message 12: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments If you get the first sirens book, I'll buddy read that one with you too (I can reread it). I'd love to do all the buddy reads you mentioned!

message 27: by Gillian (new)

Gillian Murrell | 3686 comments Hi Leah and Mystery

Reading Rediscovered (readingrediscovered) | 876 comments Hello all! I have made a spreadsheet with all the categories, so whenever a book is read, we can note the title and who read it. Then we can also note down any other categories the book fits into in case we want to finish sections sooner or repeat the challenge.

I'm still in the process of going through my TBR to decide which books to read this month, but when I figure it all out, I'll let you know.

message 29: by Gillian (new)

Gillian Murrell | 3686 comments hi Jessica I'm just going through my TBR books to see what i have that will fit any categories

Reading Rediscovered (readingrediscovered) | 876 comments Gillian wrote: "if I'm doing this wrong please let me know :)"

This looks great! I'll add them to the spreadsheet I made (and I'll post the link soon so everyone can post to it and edit it as needed).

Reading Rediscovered (readingrediscovered) | 876 comments Here is the link to the spreadsheet. You can see it and edit it as needed.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
I added every possibility I could think of for the books posted so far, so now I think if we try to post our own possible TBR, that would be fabulous.
Hopefully we will be able to use this as a tool for keeping track of all of our books, because there are a lot of categories.

message 34: by Gillian (new)

Gillian Murrell | 3686 comments Melanie i have had to order "If i Run" in so it won't be here till the 16th but i picked up the other 3 books

message 35: by Eesh (new)

Eesh (quirkyopinions) | 7289 comments Hey, so I'm sorry for not responding (my goodreads app is an idiot).

Here are the books that I'm definitely reading next month:
Beastly by Alex Flinn Hollow City (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children, #2) by Ransom Riggs The Accident Season by Moïra Fowley-Doyle The Young Elites (The Young Elites, #1) by Marie Lu Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover Pretties (Uglies, #2) by Scott Westerfeld

I know a few fit in the categories given, not sure about all. I'll try to be more active from now on.

message 36: by Eesh (new)

Eesh (quirkyopinions) | 7289 comments By the way, I thought you only had to read one book from each category, which would mean 10 books for part 1. Upto 4 are allowed but you don't have to do 4. That is how the challenge goes, right?

message 37: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90920 comments Mod
That's right, you get bonus points for completeing the ten descriptions to complete a section, rather than completing each description 4 times (if that makes sense?)

message 38: by Eesh (new)

Eesh (quirkyopinions) | 7289 comments Yeah, that makes sense. So, if we read a book from each category of part 1, we get a bonus point but not if we read 4 book of same description (like "couples on cover", etc).

But if we read two book from each description in a part , does that mean we get bonus points twice?

message 39: by Gillian (last edited Jan 25, 2016 01:06PM) (new)

Gillian Murrell | 3686 comments from what i read we get extra points for buddy reads so those books need to cover more than one description in order for us to cover all descriptions in the 4 parts. i don't see anything about getting extra bonus points twice if we cover the part twice

message 40: by Gillian (new)

Gillian Murrell | 3686 comments Mystery if you could let me know which descriptions i will put them in for you i have done a couple but not knowing the books I'm sure they will cover more. the more books we can fill in the better then i guess we split what is left to cover.

message 41: by Melanie (last edited Jan 25, 2016 03:30PM) (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments @Mystery I'll buddy read The Young Elites with you next month! What date do you want to start?

message 42: by Gillian (last edited Jan 25, 2016 02:47PM) (new)

Gillian Murrell | 3686 comments Melanie can you add your books to Jessica's doc https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/... if you are on a phone and its too hard let me know which descriptions your books fit and i will put them in for you

message 43: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments Gillian wrote: "Melanie can you add your books to Jessica's doc https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/... if you are on a phone and its too hard let me kn..."

Thanks, Gillian! I'll get to working on that now :D

message 44: by Gillian (new)

Gillian Murrell | 3686 comments You are awesome :)

message 45: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments Books are added. Hope I did it right -- some of my books work for several tasks, so I just listed them wherever they could work, and that way we can decide later where to put them. :)

I noticed that If I Run was listed under Transportation on cover. What's the transportation?

message 46: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments Gillian, do these dates work for our BRs?

This Quiet Sky by Joanne Bischof , Feb. 8th
If I Run by Terri Blackstock , Feb. 18th

And then Siren's Fury after we finish Storm Siren. ;)

message 47: by Gillian (new)

Gillian Murrell | 3686 comments i think the transportation was a mistake i was wondering that my self.
those dates look good for me

message 48: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments Great! I'll make the threads :)

message 50: by Eesh (new)

Eesh (quirkyopinions) | 7289 comments Pretties fits for couple on the cover. Hollow City for Male POV. I'll check the others.

And Melanie, would 5th be okay for The Young Elites?
