Jason Braida | 32 comments I always have a mixed reading list. Right now I'm working on Redemption Ark by Alastair Reynolds, then it's back to historical fiction with Dewey Lambdin's HMS Cockerel. Mostly SciFi and fantasy this year but the odd British mystery thrown in. I'm even going to take a stab at the Lord Peter Wimsey series by Dorothy Sayers. But I'm really looking forward to Nemesis Games by James Corey (Expanse #5). But it's still 6 books down on my TBR list. So many books and (with three kids at home) so little time.

David Blyth | 12 comments My reading list this coming year will be very mixed consisting of re-reads and new fiction. It will consist of SF - currently reading A Call to Duty by David Weber and Timothy Zahn and looking forward to its sequel - A Call to Arms. From a Fantasy perspective it's a re-read of many of the Dragonlance novels - in fact just listened to the audio book of Dragons of Autumn Twilight and just started Dragons of Winter Night. I'm enjoying audiobooks - I get more from them because the reading pace is much slower. I've nearly finished The Innocent - the first in the Will Robie sequence by David Baldacci and the plan is to read the other three novels in the sequence. I've a mass of other books to read - and I'm sure there will be other releases this year to be added to the to be read list.

Amber (bookvampirewub) | 6 comments There are so many books I plan to read this year. I definitely want to read the rest of Ednah Walters Ruse series, at least the ones that are currently out

Leonie (leonierogers) | 1223 comments I'm beginning to read Alastair Reynolds. I have Mindstar and Pandora to see whether I like him :)

Also Hero by Belinda Crawford

message 8: by Jaro (new)

Jaro (aplaceofmarvels) Some of the books I want to read in the first quarter (though the final list usually looks very different)

Throy by Jack Vance
Pandora's Star by Peter F. Hamilton
The Anubis Gates by Tim Powers
The Wind Through the Keyhole by Stephen King
Suldrun's Garden by Jack Vance (re-read)
The Passage by Justin Cronin
The Diamond Age: or, A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer

Aidan Marshall | 20 comments This is all awesome everyone! I plan to re-read the Harry Potter series again, a new book series called The 13th Reality, which has 4 books in the series, and tons of more books. Keep it up! :)

Bill | 197 comments Working on finishing series that I have started already. Such as Dagger &Coin, Reckoners, Grim Company, Red Queen's War, Lightbringer, Unhewn Throne, Prince of Nothing, Seer King, Wheel of Time, Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser, Earthsea, Ender's Saga, Book of the New Sun, Bel Dame Apocrypha and Arrows.

Think it works out to about 40 books.

If I'm not mistaken they were written by Peter Hamilton, not Alistair Reynolds. Both great writers, enjoy them both, but very different styles.

Angela Maclean | 47 comments what are the next two books the group is reading after Fifth Season

Amber Littleton (amber_littleton) | 28 comments Right now, I'm in the middle of listening to The First Law series. I started out switching between reading and listening like I normally do, but the narration is just so good.

This year, I'm for sure planning on Long Price Quartet, Lyonesse, The Magicians, and The Malazan Book of the Fallen. I'm also going to check out The Chronicles of St. Mary's because it sounds interesting/hilarious. I'm on the fence about The Dark Tower series. I really did not like the first book at all, and honestly I'm not a Stephen King fan anyway. My husband keeps telling me they get so much better though, so I may check out the 2nd book and see how I feel. There are so many books I'm excited to read that I just don't know if I want to waste my time on something I'm unsure about.

I really liked the First Law series. I read it in September of last year, along with all the other standalones set in the world.

I also loved Daniel Abraham’s Long Price Quartet when I read it several years ago. I’m planning to read his newer series, Dagger and the Coin, later this year once he publishes the last book. I think it’s due out in March. I prefer to read a series all at once, after it’s complete, so I don’t often read series that are still in progress. I see that the people participating in this year’s group challenge plan to read the first book in April, so I might join in then if I’m at a good stopping point on whatever else I’m reading.

That’s pretty much my most definite reading plan for the year. Well, I do definitely plan to read Tigana this year but it’s easy to say that because I’m reading it right now. :)

I don’t really plan out my reading book-by-book, but I do maintain a list of books that I’m most interested in reading in the near future – usually either books I already own or books that I’m especially interested in. When I choose my next read, it usually comes from that list. The list definitely doesn’t represent everything I want to read, but just the ones I’m most likely to read in the near future. I also keep a list of incomplete series that I really want to read once they’re complete, like the aforementioned Dagger and the Coin series.

Monica (monicae) | 512 comments I have in my sights (SciFi/fantasy only):

The Golem and the Jinni, Memory, Stand on Zanzibar, To Say Nothing of the Dog, Wild Seed, Skin Folk, Endymion, Blindness, Zoe's Tale, The City and the Stars, Adulthood Rites and Great North Road.

I reserve the right to adjust the list as per monthly club readings and Amazon kindle book sales... ;-)

message 16: by Random (new)

Random | 7 comments I'm going to read Angel of Storms. After that I'd like to dive into The Oversight, Lightless, Cowboy Angels, Carter & Lovecraft and last but not least - The Best of Nancy Kress

message 17: by Lara Amber (new)

Lara Amber (laraamber) | 664 comments I've got a huge backlog of books I want to read on Overdrive and on Amazon. I'm doing my best to work my way through them instead of doing any challenges this year beyond "read X number of books".

There are some Mira Grant's on there, John Scalzi (the rest of the Old Man's War series), Gentleman Bastards, a Connie Willis title, and a quite a few classics like Sherlock Holmes.
