One of my all time favorite books is Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness. This novel has caused many interpretations and although it is a short piece it has loads for discussing.
When I was writing my Master's dissertation about HoD a few years ago, I had this dream in which I was having coffee with Bowie while talking about the book. Since then I looked for any possible clue that he read the book which inspired Apocalypse Now, but I haven't found yet.

Every country has his Chekhov.
I like short stories. I do not read enough of them.

I have not read HoD yet. I read a long time ago a book by Timothy Findley that has many references to HoD, having also resuscitated the evil Kurtz. Most likely to be a retelling of HoD.
Last year I read a graphic novel about Conrad's life period in Congo.
I ordered his biography just a week ago.
I do not know when I will plan to read HoD and this biography though...
Maybe could it be a book for a buddy read? People read it and the expert help them with the multiple layers of interpretations. Would you agree, Lidiana, to be my buddy on HoD?
When it suits you best, but, for me, definitively not before September.
Bowie would have read it. I'm sure of that.

Thank you Zee. Rumi's poems look to be beautiful and inspiring. I've learned something. What a great group this is!
