Nobody But You A Callaway Wedding Novella (Callaways, #4.5) by Barbara Freethy Nobody But You: A Callaway Wedding Novella by Barbara Freethy in paperback
Emma Callaway's wedding to Max is finally here. Everyone is anxiously waiting at the church for Max and his brother Spencer to arrive. Unbeknownst to them, Max and Spencer are at the bank exchanging currency for Max's surprised honeymoon to Emma when all of a sudden the bank is being robbed. Hallie is also at the bank exchanging currency to run away to an island to forget her past. As the robbery and suspense incurs, Max is shot, Hallie and Spencer try to save Max, a budding romance starts, and Emma isn't ready to lose the man she has waited for all her life to leave her now. This is a fast, short read with a touch of romance, love, family and putting pasts behind. I felt slighted that Emma and Max didn't get a bigger story and it was more about Spencer and Hallie. 3 stars

I finished Wired by Julie Garwood, Buchanan-Renard #13. Mixed feelings about it and here's my review.

I finished listening to Closer Than You Think by Karen Rose, Romantic Suspense #16, and it was great! Here's my review.

I'm now reading Low Tide by Leslie Tentler, Rarity Cove #2, and listening to Copper River by William Kent Krueger, Cork O'Connor #6.

Fancy Dancer by Fern Michaels Fancy Dancer by Fern Michaels in paperback. Finished 06/30
I am a big fan of Fern Michaels and have read many of her books. I was very disappointed in this book. Jake is supposed to be this 35 year old, wealthy, gorgeous, sexy man. I felt as though he never grew up and came off as very geeky. None of the characters felt well defined. I felt myself wanting to know more about all of the characters. The real core of who they were and who they are now. I just couldn't connect with them, so the whole story felt disconnected. It was like this story was written in great haste. I really don't know where the title came from, as Fancy wasn't really that strong of the character until about 3/4 through the book. The story idea was good but just didn't develop for me. I really enjoy Fern Michaels books and will continue to read them. This one was just a dud for me. 2 stars

All a Heart Needs (Callaways, #5) by Barbara Freethy All a Heart Needs borrowed ebook from the library by Barbara Freethy. Finished 07/06.
Sean Callaway is the black sheep in the family becoming a rock and roll musician instead of following the other Callaway siblings and family legacy of heroes. Sean loves his life with his music, on the road, away from the family. Especially his father Jack who always lets him no of his disappointment. Sean is home in between gigs and finds Jessica, the woman he met in Angel's Bay when his sister's son Brandon and Jessica's son Kyle were kidnapped. He became very attracted to her and glad he was leaving out of town. Jessica and her son Kyle have moved to SF so Brandon and Kyle could be closer together. Jessica is renting an old house just a block away from the Callaway home. This house has painful memories for Sean and his family, ghosts and an unsolved mystery with a fire that killed his best friend Stacy when they were children. His past with nightmares and memories are catching up to Sean and he is ready to put all the guilt and sadness behind him with Jessica's help. Being together again has sparked another fire. Sean likes his laid back life and Jessica wants roots, a home and family. Again, another fantastic book in the Callaway series. It's filled with drama, intrigue, excitement, love, family and romance. I personally feel its best to read the previous book, #4 to understand where the two main characters fit. Can't wait for more of the Callaways!! 5 stars

Jennifer, Just beyond normal ♑ (jenniferjustbeyondnormal) Right now I am reading Nightwalker (Dark Days, #1) by Jocelynn Drake , and I just got in Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts . I am 95% sure I have read chasing fire before, but re-reading it nonetheless. I have been trying to read from my printed nora list from earlier books until now. I want a entire collection of her books someday. I am slowly getting there.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett in paperback by Kathryn Stockett. Finished 07/08
A very interesting and educational story. Spans years of African American maids in white households in the south. Their joys, struggles, dreams, regrets and their great courage. The characters were so well defined and believable I was able to put myself there, watching as all of this unfolded. Not being a southerner, I found this very educational and at times amusing, and heartbreaking. The only reason I didn't give it a five star rating is because I did not like the ending. I felt like I was left hanging after such a dramatic story. I think it was an amazing book Ms. Stockett wrote. It sure made me think about how I judge others. I think EVERYONE of all races, sex and age should read this. In my opinion, it should be a history book. Excellent!!! 4 stars

I also finished listening to Lauren Blakely's Lauren Blakely Full Package by Lauren Blakely . She writes the best rom-com I've ever heard. You have to listen to her books and the amazing Sebastian York as narrator, my god that man can make Google search sound sexy and funny.😂 She has the male point -of-view down pat. How she does it I'll never know.

Britney | 380 comments Hello all, I'm in need of some serious help. :(
I need to read, but I am stuck and cannot seem to find anything I WANT to read! I have only been in this serious of a funk one other time and it's seriously depressing me. It's been months since I've been able to read anything. So please if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it! It's romance I'm after and I don't care if it's real or paranormal. The problem is I feel like I'm reading the same story in different ways with a lot of books.

Some things I don't like: relationship angst, rockstars/celebrities, not a big fan of military/police types either. I know , it's narrowing my options now lol.

Likes: alphas, family, non-stupid heroines, trilogies, hotness lol.
Help.please.

I'm reading a series right now that I'm loving. It's called Rarity Cove by Leslie Tentler. I think it will be a trilogy but there are two books released to date:
Before the Storm (Rarity Cove, #1) by Leslie Tentler Low Tide (Rarity Cove, #2) by Leslie Tentler

Another favorite that might fit your tastes is the Shore Leave Cafe series by Abbie Williams. I love this little gem. I'm reading the 4th book now.
Summer at the Shore Leave Cafe (Shore Leave Cafe, #1) by Abbie Williams Second Chances (Shore Leave Cafe, #2) by Abbie Williams A Notion of Love (Shore Leave Cafe, #3) by Abbie Williams Wild Flower by Abbie Williams

The FBI/US Attorney series by Julie James is a smart contemporary romance. The first book is more romantic suspense but all of the others are more CR.
Something About You (FBI/US Attorney, #1) by Julie James A Lot like Love (FBI/US Attorney, #2) by Julie James About That Night (FBI/US Attorney, #3) by Julie James Love Irresistibly (FBI/US Attorney, #4) by Julie James It Happened One Wedding (FBI/US Attorney, #5) by Julie James

Hope this is helpful!

Hmmm...interesting challenge. Hahaha. Here's a few series/books I'll just throw out. Hopefully it helps you :)

Stealing Shadows (Bishop/Special Crimes Unit #1) by Kay Hooper - Bishop/Special Crimes Unit series by Kay Hooper (Although you said you're not a fan of military, not sure if FBI will fall under the same thing. It's more of a thriller series but I found some of the romance in these very well done.)

Kowalski Series by Shannon Stacey. I didn't like the 1st book that much but found the books following to be really good.

Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs - Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson series. Alphas, hotness, smart kick-ass heroine, and intrigue.

Following below are mostly free through Kindle Unlimited (US at the least). I think it's like $12/month.

Desert Hunt (The Wolves of Twin Moon Ranch, #0.5) by Anna Lowe - Wolves of Twin Moon series by Anna Lowe (also ends up branching off into other series as well). Alphas and hotness are definitely in these.

Fated Mates (True Mates #1) by Alicia Montgomery - paranormal shifter series by Alicia Montgomery

The Curse Merchant (The Dark Choir #1) by J.P. Sloan - Dark Choir series. Still have yet to read the 2nd book, but really enjoyed the first. Not a shifter series, but still intriguing and maybe just different enough to get you out of your funk. It's got a noir detective feel to it - but not slow paced. (male hero, though)

Indexing (Indexing #1) by Seanan McGuire - only 2 books in the series so far and unsure if the author will put out more (I wish, though). Although not a shifter series and not one heavy on the romance - it's still intriguing and the heroine is totally kick-ass with equally kick-ass supporting characters :) (If you like audiobooks - this one is also free to listen to with KU and loved the narration on it :D)

Gifted Thief (Highland Magic, #1) by Helen Harper - Highland Magic series is (so far) my favorite series by Helen Harper and the MC is one of my all time favorites. She's smart and quite punny... >.> Not a lot of hot sex scenes, but maybe the story will make up for that with you. :) Plus...PUNS. :P

Tonight and Always by Nora Roberts Tonight and Always by Nora Roberts in paperback. Finished 07/10
It was an okay story, not up to par for Nora Roberts, but it was a very old book. The characters were not very interesting and one dimensional. All they were interested in was one another. I would have liked to have known more about all the characters, their pasts, their professions, their goals, etc. The characters just weren't well defined and so their stories and backgrounds were just thrown together quickly. There was no romantic anticipation. They were kissing and making love right away. For as independent and intelligent as Kasey was supposed to be, she acted more like a love struck teenager. A fast read but not terribly interesting. I love Nora Roberts books and will continue to read her work. 3 stars

A Matter of Choice by Nora Roberts A Matter of Choice by Nora Roberts in paperback. Finished 07/16
This was published before under a different name. I think they should tell you that. I hadn't read this book before. These are some of here earlier works and happy to say, she has come a long way. The story was predictable with the romantic edge. It followed two headstrong characters with romance, suspense and intrigue. I got a little tired of the same dialogues going over and over, but I did like the ending. I really thought I had figured out "who dun it", but I was wrong. So it was worth finishing. If you want a fun, fast read, this is it. 3 stars

That Summer Night (Callaways, #6) by Barbara Freethy That Summer Night by Barbara Freethy on e-book loan from library. Finished 07/17
Shayla is the youngest Callaway, the twin to Colton and by far the smartest. Finished her medical residency at 26, and is now back from Columbia where she was working with her mentor Robert Becker. Shayla has come back home after witnessing people in her clinic being gunned down. Barely escaping her own life, Shayla receives a strange call from Robert needed her help to save his life. The only person she can be in contact with is his estranged brother Reid who Robert needs help from. The two brothers, also twins, haven't spoken since Reid found Robert and his fiance' Lisa in the coat closet making love on his rehearsal night. Reid has been released from the Army having been injured. Reid spends his time treating his heart, soul and wound in the neighborhood bar every night. Shayla and Reid are like oil and water in many ways. Reid isn't sure if Robert is worth saving his life and Shayla isn't sure if Reid in the man she wants in hers. This is another great book in the Callaways series. The characters are so well defined and strong. The story line brings mystery, suspense and of course, romance. Two sets of twins, two sets of intrigue. Excellent!! 5 stars
