What are you reading in 2016?
Jan wrote: "I'm reading a tome on the origins of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. It's quite a bit more detail than I initially wanted, but it's very interesting...and sad."It's long enough that I doubt even Paul could read it on his lunch break!
I've just started Ark Baby but i was so repelled in the first chapter by one of what i think is going to be main characters that im not sure about continuing. Has anyone read it?

Remember to take time to breathe.
Here is my review for A Machine Made This Book: Ten Sketches of Computer Science by John Whitington: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I'm plodding along through The Luck of the Vails which I got from the library because I so loved EF Benson's Lucia books. However in this book, written much earlier, he keeps building tension and creating a feeling of trepidation only for it to be resolved two pages later.
Next three books I am reading are:
The Age of Cryptocurrency: How Bitcoin and the Blockchain Are Challenging the Global Economic Order by Paul Vigna
The Man in the High Castle by Rose George
Deep Sea and Foreign Going: Inside Shipping, the Invisible Industry That Brings You 90% of Everything by Rose George

The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves, And The Greatest Treasure Hunt In History is on my TBR too Jennifer. Let me know what you think of it.
BlowbackHave just started this, it is the 5th Enzo Files book by Peter May. The first four have been very good, so hoping for another good read.
Going to start Midwives by Chris Bohjalian later tonight. Lucky I checked what I'd typed before hitting "post" as the title had come up as Mudwives! That sounds like a whole different book :)
This month I have started on my personal challenge- to read the Wheel of Time series. I'm currently on book 3- The Dragon Reborn, and enjoying it so far.
Paul wrote: "How many are in the series Annette?"14 books and a prequel. I've been wanting to read them for a while, so I said this would be the year I do it
Quick blast through Bradley Wiggins: My Hour by Bradley Wiggins so I can return it to the library tomorrow
As their is a reservation on it, next to read is Under the Tump: Sketches of Real Life on the Welsh Borders
This will be the first book I've read by him. I actually was going to read Ordinary Thunderstorms but then realised that was a follow on from Restless. I don't like reading books out of order really so grabbed a copy of Restless off eBay :)
I've recently finished Brazzaville Beach my first William Boyd after several years of nagging from my Boyd obsessed other half, I really enjoyed it, hate it when he's right!
I'm going to start reading White Dog Fell From the Sky by Eleanor Morse today. The title of the book caught my eye...
Reading What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Murakami. Quite an unusual read, a sort of memoir with added exercise.
So far he has described himself as a 'mediocre runner' despite the fact that he had done 23 marathons – at least one a year. Feeling a bit inadequate with my measly 5ks!

Lisa wrote: "Any Human Heart is also wonderful. Boyd is in my top 10 authors for sure."I decided I must try William Boyd as so many of you rate him highly. The only one the library had was An Ice-Cream War so I'll be starting that soon.
Recently finished Doughnut by Tom Holt and last week I started The Outsorcerer's Apprentice also by Tom Holt...some light relief from Infinite Jest
Have recently started two - The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey not sure what to make of this at the moment but going to stick with it. Also Harry Potter and the Cursed Child far more ridiculously excited than a 43 year old should be when this came through my letterbox yesterday! Couldn't wait to finish the Snow Child before I started it!

I'll be interested to hear what you think.

Your are right about the atmosphere of the book Joy the cold and beauty comes right off the pages. Will let you know what I think of the ending!
On my bedside table (so reading a few pages before crashing out and will take ages to finish) is Clothes, Clothes, Clothes. Music, Music, Music. Boys, Boys, Boys. the autobio of Viv Albertine from punk band The Slits. I've seen this book recommended everywhere and it fits with the 'Music' in the BV challenge. She writes really well.
Going on holiday on Saturday with just my Kindle so am musing about what to read next.

I loved The Snow Child, it is a lovely take on a classic tale and as you say, so atmospheric. I hope you continue to enjoy it!

I've just finished Finders Keepers. Unfortunately I somehow missed the middle book of the trilogy but actually this one works fine as a stand alone. A good thriller.
Just finished Skyfaring: A Journey with a Pilot. Lots of interesting information and his enthusiasm is infectious. Now reading Empire of the Sun, not sure I like it much.
