Paul Vigna We get to play games with the greatest invention in the history of mankind, the written word. What can top that?

One is to put whatever's got me blocked on a mental bookshelf, and just let it be. Usually the solution will come to me seemingly out of the blue, at some random moment. But, importantly, the answer always does come.

Another thing is to simply keep writing, skip whatever's got you blocked, write some other part of the story. Even if what you're writing at that moment isn't very good because you can't really think, the mechanical nature of physically writing I think helps break up the blockage (actual pen and paper helps).(less)

"I am obsessed with The Walking Dead.

That's right. I said it. OBSESSED. I own the entire series, and I make it a point to buy it as soon as I see it hit the shelf. When the latest season isn't airing (IS IT OCTOBER YET?!), I binge watch the show fr..." Read more of this review »

“gold is valuable as a currency or investment because we believe it is valuable (which is the same reason for valuing money itself). Gold’s value as currency is an abstract social construct.”
Paul Vigna, The Age of Cryptocurrency: How Bitcoin and Digital Money Are Challenging the Global Economic Order

“Bitcoin is just six years old. It has gone from what was ostensibly one lonely coder’s pet project to a global phenomenon that has sparked the imagination and activism of libertarians, anticorporatists, crypto-anarchists, utopians, entrepreneurs, and VCs. Bitcoin has gone from being essentially worthless to dearly valuable, only to crash and rise again, a wild trading pattern that has few analogues in capital markets. It’s certainly gone from nowhere to somewhere, and where it goes from here may be as messy and chaotic as where it’s been.”
Paul Vigna, The Age of Cryptocurrency: How Bitcoin and Digital Money Are Challenging the Global Economic Order

“The blockchain keeps everyone honest, and a whole layer of banking bureaucracy is removed, lowering costs.”
