Janice (jamasc) | 60012 comments I finished The Hobbit for apparently the third time. As I was listening to the narrator sing, it occurred to me that perhaps I had already listened to it. But I dismissed it. When I went to do my review, I realized I had duplicates of the book. What a mess.

I've started listening to Tim Curry read A Christmas Carol. I don't think I've ever read the book.... but I've been known to be wrong before. Recently, in fact.

Kristie | 19223 comments Haha, Janice. I did that same thing not so long ago myself.

Sarah | 18550 comments I've been doing some marathon reading too this week. Whilst having a cold sucks, it has meant I can do nothing but read.

That's funny Janice. You should check out the radio adaptation of the hobbit for full cover of the different versions.

Tasha I'm reading The Buried Giant which is turning out to be so much better in book format vs audio. I tried to on audio earlier this year and DNF but it's so much better as a hand-in-book read.

I'm glad it's working for you, Tasha. I read it last year and didn't like it much at all.

Sandra (sanlema) | 11283 comments I finished The Pearl that was an 3.5 stars to me. While I wait for January 1st (for The Muse buddy read, and 2017 challenge) I will start The Wonder this afternoon. I loved Room and totally hated Frog Music, so I am really expectant about this one.

I will be looking forward to hearing how you get on with The Wonder, Sandra. I have it sitting on my TBR but like you, I hated Frog Music so I have mixed feelings about starting it.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I finished The Game of Kings for the monthly challenge. This was quite a challenging book to read at times but it really rewarded the effort. I loved it, particularly the enigmatic and incredibly intelligent main character, and I can't wait to read the rest of the series. Unsurprisingly I gave it 5 stars.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I read a few festive books today: The Night Before Christmas (3 stars), Wenceslas: A Christmas Poem (4 stars) and The Christmas Truce (5 stars).

Sarah | 18550 comments I finished reading The Well of Ascension and now I'm moving straight on to The Hero of Ages to conclude the trilogy.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments The Templar Legacy pretty good. Was just the type of book I was looking for although these types of books can't help but have a sameness to them. Comes down to which author writes to your taste. This landing in middle. Read better and worse. Still fun type of novels which I need from time to time

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I finished The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland and Led the Revels There. I enjoyed it, I love the writing and the fantastical things the author comes up with, but somehow I always feel like I'm not able to follow the entire story. I had the same with the first book. Still a 4-star read.

Now I need to pick a book that will keep me occupied until Friday evening. Maybe Sh*t My Dad Says. Then I can read the next part of TWIW on Saturday (not much time for reading anyway) and start with two new books on Sunday.

Sandra (sanlema) | 11283 comments I finished The Wonder (great read) and The Year of the Garden (MG novel) yesterday. Since I don't think I would have too much time to read this weekend, I am not starting another book. I will read a couple of interviews of Show Me a Story!: Why Picture Books Matter: Conversations with 21 of the World's Most Celebrated Illustrators and wait until the craziness of the New Year passes. Of course I have a new "episode" of The Woman in White to read tomorrow.
Then I will start The Muse for the buddy read, and I also received the library notice about The Girl Who Drank the Moon (monthly read) being ready for me to pick up. Still not sure what (and if) I'm reading something for the January challenge. I am starting 2017 very busy so far. Hopefully in the second half of the month.

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I also finished my last book for the year, Sh*t My Dad Says. I'll read the next part of TWIW in tomorrow, and start the new year with Moon Called for the group read and The Muse for the year long challenge and buddy read.

message 1866: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19223 comments I'm still reading Heartless and Small Great Things. I had almost no time to read on vacation, but I'm still hoping to finish them both before year end.

message 1867: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I will also be starting The Muse on January 1st for the yearly challenge and a buddy read.

message 1868: by Joan (new)

Joan Seed catalogs have arrived! I'm so busy dreaming about my garden I don't have time for books.

Janice (jamasc) | 60012 comments I finished The Cure of Souls. I really enjoy that series and will be reading more of it with the 2017 annual challenge. I had to get this one read first though.

I have an hour left in Steelheart and that should be my last read for 2016.
