I am choosing Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed. I've meant to read this for awhile. What a long journey she took! Once I read the book I'll finally allow myself to watch the movie I have wanted to see forever. If your not familiar, this is the true story of a woman who walked alone for over 1,000 miles on the Pacific Coast trail at the age of 22 after having lost most of what she held dear.

Ann-Marie, I love all books about climbing mountains like Everest and K2 or traveling Antarctica. I have no idea but I'm a sucker for them everytime. Thanks for the suggestion I have not read this one.

I've been wanting to read The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. I think it might fit this category.

I have picked Cocky Bastard by chance and it starts with a road trip from Nebraska to Califronia via Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. Typical romantic comedy/drama, but very enjoyable. It is also written by two authors.

I read a book called The Dog Who Danced by Susan Wilson which is about a woman who travels with her dog by transport truck from Seattle to Boston and her mishaps along the way.

So I'm going to read A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson. I saw the promo for the movie and saw it was a book and that the book was supposed to be funnier so I think I am going to give it a shot!

Just saw this movie recently, and it definitely made me want to read the book as well!

I read Heart of Darkness for this task. I did not like it at all.

I read Pilgrim's Progress. It was an okay book. A bit dull at times, most likely due to the difficulty in understanding the language.

So I finished A Walk In The Woods and decided to watch the movie. ... the movie was ok but it doesn't do the book any sort of justice! The book was way better and I'm glad I only spent a dollar at the Redbox! Absolutely read the book if you have seen the movie! the book has more depth that you just can't put in a movie. Also although Robert Redford and Nick Nolte are great actors in their own right these were not roles for them for one reason only: Bryson and Katz were in their 40s in the book and the ages of the actors just didn't fit with the book. I didn't hate the movie but it just didn't live up to the book. I did like the book a lot though.

I am going to read Travels with Charley in search of America by John Steinbeck for this category. Looking forward to it.

Two books I read so far this year fit into this category - Breakfast with Buddha by Roland Merullo, and Wild by Cheryl Strayed. I ended up using Wild to fill this, because I was able to put Breakfast with Buddha into an author from your own state (Roland Merullo and I are actually from the same city!)
