Sharon | 11 comments I read this book 3 to 5 years ago and I think it was published around those years too.
the time was in the times of stalls , horse carts etc.
It was a female protagonist who's destiny was to defeat her uncle and I think the uncle killed her parents. She has to team up with a guy- a marriage alliance, which is a step closer to defeating her uncle. I remember vaguely of a scene where the guy, who is rich, gets her stuff to eat. She is poor and starving. She scowls at stuff he says but when the wind blew, she liked the sound wind chime makes and he buys it for her as a gift. The man was poisoned. When he recovered as much as he could, they had to practise a marriage ritual that was very complex and if done wrong, it would bring them bad luck. Then the uncle came and comments on why he wasn't invited or something. They were invited to live with him and they couldn't decline otherwise she would be killed. In the end the uncle wasn't bad but was under some other influence that made him bad. He gives the sword or knife to her so she could stab him.

That's all I can remember, please help :)

Shadows on the Moon for BookWoman's suggestion.

Hannah, who is the author of your suggestion?

Sharon | 11 comments no it's not Shadows on the Moon nor Eon: Dragoneye Reborn

It might have the word "dance" in the title, but I am not 100% sure...

Sharon | 11 comments No, the book has a slightly subtle hint of Asian feel to it.
It doesn't mention anything about their nationality or ethnic group.
It may have a fountain on the back cover, but I may be mis-remembering

Sharon | 11 comments Hi, I finally found the book! It's called Daughter of the Flames. Thanks to those that helped. When I revisited this page, I couldn't believe it was right under my very nose, because the very first reply by BookWoman was a book by Zoe Marriot and that was the exact same author that wrote Daughter of the Flames!
