I am going to read "Where'd you go Bernadette" by Maria Semple because I have the book and didn't get it read this year. But I may end up reading "Chasing the Light" by Jesse Blackadder because it looks good too.Other suggestions:
Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (Extraordinary Voyages #6)
The Final Warning by James Patterson
An Unsung Hero: Tom Crean - Antarctic Survivor by Michael Smith

Alone on the Ice: The Greatest Survival Story in the History of ExplorationI googled a list of books about Antarctica and I got this one.
No Horizon Is So Far: Two Women And Their Extraordinary Journey Across AntarcticaAlso a two author book, so I might read this one.
This one has been on my shelve for a long time. Now is the time to read it! An Unsung Hero: Tom Crean - Antarctic Survivor by Michael Smith
I'm going for Subterranean. A little more to my kind of book :) It looks like a fun one, just requested it from the library.
I'll be reading In Shackleton's Footsteps: A Return to the Heart of the Antarctic. I bought it for my dad sometime in 2015 and it looked so interesting!
J. wrote: "I'll probably go with At the Mountains of Madness."Thanks for the suggestion! Just started it, it's my first H.P. Lovecraft and I really like it so far. The narrator of the novel mentions another book set partly in Antarctica, maybe somebody likes to check it out:
The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket by Edgar Allan Poe
I have chosen The Nature of Iceby Robyn Mundy. The premise is very intriguing, and the cover is lovely.
I really enjoyed Dark Matter last year, a ghost story set in Antarctica. I'm interested in Skating to Antarctica, The Still Point and Where'd You Go, Bernadette
Uhm yeah don't read Dark Matter for this category (like I did) as it's set in the Arctic not Antarctica! Otherwise, go for it especially if you like ghost stories, I really enjoyed it. I think I'll put it under 'author you've never read before'...
I might read the comic book version of the old John Carpenter movie The Thing. Or I'll just switch this category out for one of the ones I liked but didn't get voted on to this list. Considering the same thing for Africa.
I ran across a curious discovery that might provide a bit of a cheat. Photos from Shackleton's ill fated expedition have recently been digitized. Among them was a photograph of Shackleton's private library aboard ship. And they have been able to make out the titles.http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-3563...

Like many others, I chose Where'd You Go, Bernadette for this task. Maybe I was expecting too much because of all the hype it has received, but for me it was just "OK".

And yes, I also think the hype made me expect alot more.

It has received a lot of hype but I'm only 40 pages in. So far it definitely feels like an "OK" kind of book to me too.
I listened to Where'd You Go Bernadette as an audiobook and loved it! I definitely wouldn't have picked up this book without the reading challenge and I'm so glad I did. I definitely recommend the audiobook for those who may be on the fence about this book. It was a fun one for my daily commute to work.
