Could I read The Ressurectionist as a thing for the noun challenge? Is a ressurectionist a thing?
Hi, Cynthia. I'm wondering if Bear Daughter by Judith Berman would count toward the Native American Heritage task. It's fantasy, but based very strongly on Native American mythology, and with characters who appear to be Native Americans (although this isn't explicitly stated). I'm torn because I'm not sure how much influence the fantasy element has and how much is actually based on the Native American mythology, and where you want the line to be on this one.
For the "watch a movie/read a book" task, would New Moon work if I didn't claim the points until after the movie comes out in Nov. and I get to go see it?Heather in KS
Donna Jo, I have a question for you. I want to use Stephen King/Joe Hill for the author relationship task. I have The Journals of Eleanor Druse My Investigation of the Kingdom Hospital Incident in my TBR pile and it's been there FOREVER! Would it count as authored by Stephen King? He is listed on Goodreads as the author, but I thought I would see your opinion on this before I added it to my challenge list. Thanks!Heather in KS

For "Terrifying Titles", may I use "Soulless"?Was it ever officially determined if "Hunger Games" could be used for science fiction or alternative history? I want to use the sequel somewhere in this challenge, possibly for one of those two tasks.
Could I use "The Last Dickens" for CAIT'S TASK? Or would it have needed to be "Charles Dickens" rather than just Dickens?

Soulless is fine.
Hunger Games is fine for Science Fiction but not Alternative History as it takes place in the future and is therefore not history.
Dickens would be a last name so that is fine.

Cynthia, for the adoption task, would it be ok to use one of the books from the Dexter series by Jeff Lindsay? Dexter Morgan was adopted. The story doesn't focus on adoption, but more on Dexter's internal struggle with his inhuman desires. However, his adopted father had a huge impact on how Dexter deals with his need to kill.

Jennifer - Catching Fire is SOOOO good. I just finished it a couple of days ago for one of my partial tasks and now I'm going nuts waiting to find out what will happen next!!
Oh, Candace, I'm so glad to hear that! I have some other things to read first (I am in desperate need of credits on PBS) so I'm going to read the books that I know will get me credits, and then read "Catching Fire". I will not ever swap those books!

I'm sure it does. I'll try and find a page quoting it when I read it. The TV series constantly mentions he was adopted. It's been awhile since I read the first book, but it's the same there as well.

Task 5.9 (coming of age or senior citizen main character) says novel, but would a memoir work? I'd like to use An Open Book: Coming of Age in the Heartland.If not, would The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks count as a senior citizen main character?

Cynthia,Would Dread work for task 5.6? I was going to read Wicked Game, but am now #1 on my library hold list for The Secret of the Dread Forest (the third in a series I really enjoy). I will read it either way, but thought it would be nice to fit it into the challenge if possible.

Im not sure if anyone asked this yet, but can I read Man in the Dark by Paul Auster for my alternative history book? At some point, the main character wakes up in a world where civil war has broken out in the US after the Supreme Court decision after the 2000 election.

(1) For the 1, 2, 3 word task, would the word "the" count as a word? It is somewhat difficult to find a one word title that doesn't have "the" in front (i.e..."
1. Yes the word the counts as a word so those books would be 2 word titles. 2. I would think it could count as person or place because Tiffany is also a name but check with Cait. 3. Nightmare is a noun but the others are fine. 4. Yes homecoming would be fine.
