message 102: by Rosemarie (new)

Rosemarie I just returned from the library. Now I can read both Second Chance Pass (Virgin River, #5) by Robyn Carr and First Comes Marriage (Huxtable Quintet #1) by Mary Balogh

I think the books are fanatic. I listened to both series and I love both of them ,they have nothing in common though.

Robin (robinmy) I had a long weekend so I tackled The Shadows (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #13) by J.R. Ward The Shadows by J.R. Ward.

Anita Reads | 51 comments Awesome. I think Jim Butcher is a fantastic author. I really love the Dresden Files. They've only gotten better and better with each book. I just finished reading Dead Beat in January, and have scheduled to read Proven Guilty in March. What makes these books even better is James Marsters narrating them. He does a splendid job on that.

Will look forward to start Codex Alera, once I'm caught up on Dresden. :)

Anita Reads | 51 comments I finished my 2 books
Friday Night Bites (Chicagoland Vampires, #2) by Chloe Neill
which was great. It still needs a little to make it hit 5 stars. Because the writing is really great, and I love the character development. Hopefully next book will be even better.
The Mark of Athena (The Heroes of Olympus, #3) by Rick Riordan
These books are always really fun to read. There's always so much going on in these books. What I like about this series compared to Percy Jackson, is that it seems the characters has matured a lot, which makes the story even better.

Now I'm working on:
Untraceable (Tracers, #1) by Laura Griffin Already about half-way, and it's really interesting. So far it's lacking some love, but I'm sure it will come within the next couple of chapters.
City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6) by Cassandra Clare Look forward to get this series crossed off my to-read list. I really enjoyed the first 3 books, but think the series went downhill after that.

I did just pick up Cover of Night by Linda Howard V is for Vengeance (Kinsey Millhone, #22) by Sue Grafton Cleopatra A Life by Stacy Schiff from the library, too.

I think this series gets better as we get to know the characters better. I've read the first eight or nine and love this series.

Robin (robinmy) This week I read Ten Reasons to Stay (School For Heiresses, #2.5) by Sabrina Jeffries Ten Reasons to Stay by Sabrina Jeffries. It's a 91 page novella that needed a lot more pages to develop the characters.

My review: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

Then I read Too Far Gone (SEAL Team 12, #6) by Marliss Melton Too Far Gone by Marliss Melton. Another excellent romantic suspense story.

Anita Reads | 51 comments I finished these books yesterday:
Playing With Poison (Cue Ball Mysteries, #1) by Cindy Blackburn City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6) by Cassandra Clare The Angel Experiment (Maximum Ride, #1) by James Patterson

I wasn't so happy with City of Heavenly Fire. It's good to have finished the series now, but I really think it was drawn out unnecessarily. The pace of this last book was so boring.

I was very surprised with how much I liked Playing with Poison. Funny dialogue and I didn't really guess the killer until the author revealed it. So that was fun guessing everything again and again.

The Angel Experiment reminded me a little of Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Powers series. Both with the fact that the main characters were part of an experiment that doctors decided to try out to combine human with genetics from something else in this case birds. The whole ordeal with them being on the run from the institute as well. I really love those types of stories when you never know what's going to happen next. Definitely going to continue the series.

Now I'm working on these books:
River's Recruit (Sanctuary, #1) by Charlotte Abel Career of Evil (Cormoran Strike, #3) by Robert Galbraith

I love reading the old stuff, especially when it is an author that I currently read. I finished Revenge Revenge by Lisa Jackson by Lisa Jackson which is three oldies, repackaged and rereleased, They were romantic-suspense-lite with a overarching mystery.

I started this a few days ago, and had to stop reading for the weekend. I drove 700 miles, one way, for my girls to go to an honor band performance some of their friends were in, then drove it back on Sunday. I'm trying to catch up laundry today and will finish this up tonight. I love Cindy Gerard's writing.

Anita Reads | 51 comments I finished these 3 books:
Career of Evil (Cormoran Strike, #3) by Robert Galbraith Every Shade of Blue by Linzi Drew-Honey Before Jamaica Lane (On Dublin Street, #3) by Samantha Young

Cormoran Strike books never lets down so far. I really enjoy those mysteries, and always has a hard time finding the culprit until long into the books. I enjoy the funny relationship between Robin and Strike, and can't wait to see what will happen in that regard in the next book.

Every Shade of Blue, was a free book gotten from NetGalley. It was definitely not as good as I had hoped. It seemed she wrote a big part of the book from the main characters ex husband's new woman and the villain in the book. I really didn't need to know their sex lives.

Samantha Young is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. This series always have quite a story to tell.

Now I'm working on:
Secrets of a Summer Night (Wallflowers, #1) by Lisa Kleypas Dragonfly by Julia Golding

Hayley (mrsjohnson1985) | 718 comments I'm currently reading Mud Vein by Tarryn Fisher which is pretty dark and twisted, and actually ties in to this author's book, Marrow by Tarryn Fisher .

Also am reading Sweet Caroline by Rachel Hauck which is an easy read so far :)

message 132: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 51 comments @Rosemarie, I haven't read that series. Will have to look into that one when I've caught up with her On Dublin Street series. I've so far read 4 books by her, and they've all been great. Had a few issues with the MC in the first book in On Dublin Street, but it's gotten a lot better with the next 2 books. Then I've read her standalone 'Hero' which I also really liked.

Anita,
Rachel Hauck just writes easy-going Christian Romance. It's kind of light and fluffy reads.

I actually just finished a pretty good one, by Francine Rivers, that I would recommend. It was on a darker side, but I really enjoyed it. Bridge to Haven by Francine Rivers

Anita (anitanodiva) | 607 comments Years ago I read a lot of Christian Romance and I remember one book in particular that was Romantic Suspense about uncovering more of the original scrolls and the religious and political implications they caused and everyone just wanted them to disappear again. Any idea as to title or author? I always wanted to read more of this author.

message 140: by Anita Reads (last edited Mar 04, 2016 01:42PM) (new)

Anita Reads | 51 comments Thank you for the recommendation. I'll look into it more.

One of the Christian Fiction books I read that I didn't like was Invisible (Ivy Malone Mysteries, #1) by Lorena McCourtney I liked the mystery in it alright, and I did sometimes like the friendship between the MC and the detective. It just irked me the wrong way about how the MC instantly was offended if someone didn't go to church, and bam then the person was of course a suspect to the murder because good guys always go to church. That was a little too much for me. Also since I myself aren't very religious.

I love Christian Fantasy like Narnia and also enjoyed Unending Devotion (Michigan Brides, #1) by Jody Hedlund quite a lot.

I really enjoyed Narnia too! It's hard to find a good christian fiction book sometimes, that is why I stick to the fluffy ones usually because they seem to be on a more happier note.

Robin (robinmy) I finished two books today. First I finished The Soul Catcher (Maggie O'Dell, #3) by Alex Kava The Soul Catcher by Alex Kava. I enjoyed this one even though I figured out the killer early in the book.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 607 comments Very good question. Since Goodreads and many great friends, I rarely read anything these days that I don't finish. I look at the ratings of my friends, I they don't like a book I don't even bother.
