Kelly (kellysrambles) | 1000 comments Hey! I'm just working out which books I'm going to read to complete this challenge and was wondering if a current group read counts? I've seen some people use them but wasn't sure. I'm planning on reading I Am Malala which is our March group read, but would that count towards this challenge as it says previous group reads? Thanks! :)

message 218: by Blagica , Challenges (new)

Blagica | 12942 comments Kelly people have been using it so I will say yes I plan on adding it as well.

Wow! Thanks to my book clubs, I'm really rocking on this challenge! Now I've read four books already when I originally committed to 3. And I will at least finish The Color Purple before the end of Q1 also for another book club. This is awesome. Thanks, life!

1. The Martian by Andy Weir -- Completed 2/9/16
2. All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr -- Completed 2/13/16
3. The Color Purple
4. The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness -- Completed 2/2/16a
5. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky -- Completed 2/13/16

message 225: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie | 976 comments Update: I finished 1! A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness. It was SO good. I enjoyed it thoroughly. It felt very much like Romeo and Juliet without the antiquated language with witches and vampires. I will definitely be looking into the sequels (probably over the summer). The only thing that bothered me a little was how quickly the relationship between Diana and Matthew progressed from "Who the hell are you?" to "Oh my God, I can't live without you!" But, it is easily gotten over given how much interesting history is jammed into the book and how gosh darn entertaining it is. Good stuff.

I'm going to continue, and I think I'm going to make it an annual challenge for me personally. Of the 51 group read books in 2012-2015, I have now read 32, so I'm going to see how many more I can read this year.

Wow! Thanks to my book clubs aligning to the stars of Group Reads on this list, I've flown far past my original goal of 3 books. I really want to read both The Rosie Project and Mr. Penumbra's 24-hour Bookstore, but I don't know if they will get done this quarter. Definitely on my list for the future, though!
