Sorry for the confusion.

You noted my recent add as Area X, but the title of the book is Annihilation. The location should be noted as: Area X,Southern Reach.

The star appears on Key West..."

Oh! I'm sorry, Stacey. I confused myself. I thought you read "Area X" which is the entire trilogy in one book. I've changed it. Is that more what you had in mind for the star?

Michelle (girlvsbook) | 1173 comments Also, Katie, I went ahead and added you to Modern Romance. And I added your other books. Added yours too, Andrea.

message 305: by Rachel (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3266 comments My most recent reads:

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe - El Paso, Texas
Rebecca - Monte Carlo and Manderley (house in southern England)

I don't know if you're including books from other challenges, but in case you are:
The Witches - Bournemouth, UK and partly in Norway

Just a thought, and it's probably way too late to incorporate this, but I wonder if it would also make sense to collect when each book was set. Maybe a timeline, in addition to the map? I wouldn't have any idea how to do that though.

Michelle (girlvsbook) | 1173 comments Rachel, we're just doing the books for this challenge. Thanks for asking. I'll just take this opportunity to remind everyone of that.

Please only include your books for the 2016 ATY Challenge.

As you can see, this is a huge project with just the books from the ATY Challenge. It would be much too difficult to map everyone's books for every challenge. Since our group is the ATY group, we're just going to focus on that. :)

As for the years. that is may be something we can consider for next year. But I think you're right about it being difficult to do at this point. But it's a nice idea! :)

At work so I'll get to these when I'm able. Thanks guys!

I suppose Cambridge, England is the primary location...since the novel starts there....
but there are scenes in London...specifically at the British Museum and Penge, England (a suburb of London).... and also Athens, Greece.

Guys, I have a question!
I'm not from US or UK, so I don't know exactly what is "primary" or "secondary". I think "primary" is not the first place that is shown in the book, but the most important one.
Is it right?

Stephanie, Emm will tell you when she adds your book :)

Babitix, Yes, it is the location that is most important or the location where most of the book takes places. For instance, if the character lives in one place but takes a vacation for a few chapter then the first location would be primary.

I have trouble putting a primary location for this book since he traveled the world.
One part of the story is mainly in Sweden but still multiple locations in Sweden. I guess the story starts in Malmköping where he climbs out of the window.

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3266 comments Trying to collect settings like this really made me realize how few books explicitly say where they are set...either that, or I don't pay enough attention.

Why We Broke Up - United States, doesn't seem to give anything more specific
Attachments - Nebraska. I'm pretty sure it specified somewhere, but I can't find it now. I keeping wanting to say Lincoln, but I know it's not that

message 343: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (girlvsbook) | 1173 comments Rachel - I couldn't find a specific location for the book either. The best I can say is that he said he lived about 45 minutes from the state school and he later returns to Nebraska to attend college at University of Nebraska. Their main campus is in Lincoln, Nebraska so my best guess would be somewhere within a 30-40 mile radius of Lincoln, Nebraska. ;) But I just put it under Nebraska. It's already been added. I'll add your name to it when I get these up tomorrow.

Mariana Custodio (marianaluthor) Making Faces
Primary: This is a tricky one. The book is set in this little town called Hannah Lake, PA. USA. But I couldn't actually find it in the map. It was supposed to be like 100km from the flight crashing site on 9/11. Maybe is somewhere around Shanksville or Indian Lake. =/

Secondary: Iraq
