Jessica (jessiberry09) | 7 comments I have been wanting to read The Hunger Games Trilogy But, since I've seen the movies I think it might be to soon to step into the books.
I did read the first of The Testing Trilogy and really would like to read the second and third! I think this trilogy with be finished this year!

message 3: by Julia (new)

Julia (mizzelle) | 49 comments Likely reading Gennifer Albin's Crewel World series for this -- read the first, but haven't gotten around to the other two books in the series.

message 4: by Rainey (new)

Rainey | 241 comments Station Eleven is the one for me for this task.

message 5: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahreadssometimes) | 9 comments Hopefully I'll be reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy for this task. :)

message 6: by Tatiana (new)

Tatiana Davis | 25 comments I will probably read Station Eleven as well! If I run out of time I may read Divergent and then watch the movie...

message 7: by Cheri (new)

Cheri (jovali2) I envy those of you reading Station Eleven! It was one of my favorites from last year (and I don't generally enjoy post-apocalyptic novels). I still haven't settled on what to read for this task.

message 8: by SibylM (new)

SibylM (sibyldiane) | 62 comments I think I'm going with Only Ever Yours for this one.

message 9: by Allie (new)

Allie (allieeveryday) I loved Station Eleven! My book club just read that last month. I plan to read Annihilation; I had already read a lot of the more popular dystopian novels (The Hunger Games, Divergent, Brave New World, etc.)

Leslie (updates on SG) (leslie_ann) | 153 comments This year, I knocked off a number of dystopian/post-apocalyptic novels this year ( Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, Station Eleven, A Canticle for Leibowitz, The Giver) from my To-Read shelf, so am glad I found that I still have The Handmaid's Tale on the shelf. So, that's what I'll use for this category.

Trudie (trudieb) Sarah wrote: "Hopefully I'll be reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy for this task. :)"

Oh I love this book and the film

message 13: by Trudie (new)

Trudie (trudieb) This one should be one of the easier tasks as it is one of my favourite genres - I am going to go for a recent title Gold Fame Citrus

message 14: by Cheryl (last edited Aug 13, 2016 10:17AM) (new)

Cheryl Hager (cheryl_is_reading) | 73 comments I will leave this to chance since I have several series in this genre to finish and many to start. I ended up reading Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1) by Tahereh Mafi

message 15: by Laura (new)

Laura (liacobet) | 37 comments Definitely going with Station Eleven for this one, but I'd like to also read The Handmaid's Tale if I have time.

message 16: by Jolynne (last edited Dec 18, 2015 11:10PM) (new)

Jolynne For the Margaret Atwood fans. Don't forget the MaddAddam Trilogy, starting with Oryx an Crake. The MaddAddam Trilogy: Oryx and Crake; The Year of the Flood; MaddAddam

message 17: by Bea (new)

Bea I am going to continue with Justin Cronin's book 2: The Twelve

message 18: by Jolynne (new)

Jolynne Sarah wrote: "Hopefully I'll be reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy for this task. :)"

I finished that book last October and I'm still thinking about it!

I was also going to recommend this series! It's one of my favorites (although I love anything by Atwood). I've read so many dystopian novels, it's going to take me a while to find one to fit this task!

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Gotta be Station Eleven for me. I'd recommend J and The Girl with All the Gifts from my reading this year. Also, for an excellent YA series of dystopia, Gone etc. by Michael Grant.

Jessica // Starjessreads (starjessreads) Bea wrote: "I am going to continue with Justin Cronin's book 2: The Twelve"

Me too!

message 22: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kathrynlively) | 63 comments I still have Winter by Marissa Meyer to read so that's on.

message 23: by Dayna (new)

Dayna (textbookcase) | 17 comments I read a ton of dystopian fiction and have never read The Road, so I'm going to do that. For those of you reading Station Eleven, I loved it! The Handmaid's Tale and Oryx and Crake are also favorites of mine. If you want to double up, I think The Giver could count as a middle grade novel. Maybe it's a little more advanced than middle grade.

message 24: by Beachesnbooks (new)

Beachesnbooks | 49 comments One of my favorite genres! I also loved Oryx and Crake and Station Eleven. I would also highly recommend Never Let Me Go--really moving and beautifully written.

Oh, yes! Never Let Me Go was beautiful (and can also be used for your "movie" book!)

message 26: by Clark (new)

Clark Knowles (clarkknowles) The Girl With All the Gifts is great for this category. One of my favorite surprises from this year's challenge.

Maegan wrote: "I am torn between Station Eleven, because of the amazing reviews it's received, or Brave New World, because sadly I have yet to read it."

Oh great shout! I've not read it either... Now I'm torn too!

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Same for A Clockwork Orange...

message 29: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Yuska (vanness77) | 15 comments The Hunger Games trilogy.

message 30: by Carlee (new)

Carlee (carleehobbs) | 1 comments I enthusiastically recommend The Dog Stars! In the same vein as McCarthy's The Road.

message 31: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2 comments Station Eleven is super good but Brave New World is a classic - such a tough choice!

message 32: by Kai (new)

Kai | 12 comments Station Eleven was great! One of the best books I've read in a long time--even thinking about it 11 months after reading it, I still get teary eyed.

I'll be reading Seveneves for this challenge. Anybody struggling to find a book, it seems pretty much anything Neal Stephenson has written would work. Snow Crash was especially good.

message 33: by Jo (new)

Jo (allweatherreader) | 105 comments Yes yes Station Eleven, or The Girl With All The Gifts (which is getting a film in 2016, I believe, so would work for that too).

message 34: by Shirley (new)

Shirley | 69 comments So many great suggestions here, I'm gonna have to see what jumps out at me when the time comes as quite a few on my reading list all which I've seen mentioned except the country of ice cream star by Sandra Newman.
Never let me go is one of my favourite books of all time. I'd recommend if you haven't given it a go

message 36: by Karen (new)

Karen Foster (karenfoster) I'm thinking "The Well" by Catherine Chanter (from the Richard & Judy Book Club picks for Autumn 2015 list)

message 37: by Kate (new)

Kate | 1 comments Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sowers is what leaning towards

Oh, how I wish I could read The Handmaid's Tale for the first time again. I adore that book!
I'm leaning towards Station Eleven or The Girl With All the Gifts for myself.

message 39: by CaitGreens (new)

CaitGreens | 0 comments I am going to read Dust Lands by Moira Young.

message 40: by Melanie (new)

Melanie I plan on reading the final book in the Red Rising trilogy, Morning Star.

If you've read Hunger Games, Maze Runner, Divergent, and/or Matched, you will like this series.

message 41: by Kate (new)

Kate (ifitaintkate) | 28 comments Right now I'm leaning towards Never Let Me Go. I wish I hadn't already read We (more than once), it would be perfect.

message 42: by Julia (new)

Julia (readingover50) | 23 comments I think I will read Golden Son. This is the second book in the Red Rising trilogy.

One of the reasons I enjoyed it so much was that I had no idea what it was about going in: I was expecting some kind of straight-up YA, based on the cover, so got a kick out of the surprise. It was also very different to the other books I'd been reading around the time. I haven't read any of the other books you mentioned so perhaps this wouldn't have stood up so well if I'd read it knowing those. I thought there were some great set-pieces and it was much better than I would expect a [SPOILER?] 'zombie' novel to be - especially having read The Maze Runner Series earlier this year... Having said that, I did go back and alter my rating from 5 to 4 stars after calming down a bit.

PS I didn't audiobook it: I read a paperback copy on the bus/walk to work in the mornings. This was in November and I travel between 6am and 7am so dark, cold, a bit misty, not many people around. Added a lot of great atmosphere!

message 44: by Bobby (last edited Dec 28, 2015 11:34AM) (new)

Bobby | 197 comments This will be my year to finally be getting around to reading 1984 by George Orwell. It's been on my TBR list since 1984!

message 45: by Tokeyah (new)

Tokeyah | 2 comments I just got Gold Fame Citrus by Clair Vaye Watkins

message 46: by Robin P (new)

Robin P I was planning to read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and Where Late the Sweet Birds Sang for the challenge I am doing of reading a book written in every year of my life. It seems both would fit this category. (probably a lot of Phillip K Dick would fit)

message 47: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 30 comments I'm going with Station Eleven-it is the January selection for my book group too.

message 48: by Kate (new)

Awesome! I know absolutely nothing about it, and I'll try to keep it that way.

message 49: by Elle (last edited Dec 28, 2015 10:27PM) (new)

Elle (elleay) | 68 comments I can't decide if I'm going with one of the next books in series I've already started, Morning Star (#3 in the Red Rising trilogy) or The Song Rising (#3 in The Bone Season series), or going for something "new" but on my TBR radar like The Girl with All the Gifts or Wool Omnibus (the Silo series all in one). Leaning toward the stand alone books because I'm reading the next books in the series anyway - challenge or not.

message 50: by Luce (last edited Dec 29, 2015 12:45AM) (new)

Luce I'm reading "the road to high saffron" for this task, it's been on my list for ages!
