Bobbi (schadenfreudian) | 628 comments The Rithmatist anyone? Possibly for May?

Sreemoyee Mukherjee The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

I will be reading this book in about a week, (28th march to 1st April) and would love to have someone to read it with.

Meagan Rupert | 9 comments May I please join the buddy read for "The Book Thief" in April?

message 305: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments I would be up for The Rithmatist in May! I want to read more of Sanderson, and not just his super high fantasy stuff.

Hey, I'd like to join you for The Rithmatist, however, I have never buddy-read a book, so I'd need help as to how one does that ;)

message 307: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments Hey Alex! That's a great question. :) For the month of the buddy read, we set up a topic specifically for the book and use that to chat and discuss with others who are reading the book at the same time. It's pretty laid back - you don't necessarily need to read at the same time or speed as other people - but it's nice to be able to share our thoughts with each other.

Does that help answer your question?

Hello Sreemoyee!

We will read it in the Buddy reads of April, so even if you read it before you are more than welcome to participate in the discussion!

Sreemoyee Mukherjee alright then, I look forward to it!

Can I please join for The Book Thief? Is it still on for April?

message 311: by Zara's Retreat (new)

Zara's Retreat | 2365 comments I'm about to start posting next month's books. I'll do them throughout today and possibly tomorrow depending on how I go.

If there are any that I've missed please let me know and I'll fix it up.

message 312: by Zara's Retreat (new)

Zara's Retreat | 2365 comments I have posted all the BRs for April. I will link them in the mod thread a bit later. If there are any BRs I've missed please let me know.

Hi Zara, I commented earlier in this thread that I would like to read Ship of Magic. Please can you add me to the buddy read discussion?

message 316: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Stam | 2 comments Can I be added for The Book Thief? How does it work?

message 317: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments Hi Michelle!

Zara will officially add you when she's online, but feel free to check in with other buddy readers and jump into the discussion here.

Buddy reads are pretty laid back. We just provide a space for you to discuss with other members. There are suggested check-in points in the topic, but you can read at your own pace. Let me know if you have any other questions.

message 318: by Emily (new)

Emily (emilyesears) | 604 comments Is anyone interested in buddy reading Gilead in May?

message 319: by Meg (new)

Meg M | 8 comments I'll join The Book Thief in April if that's still possible!

message 320: by Yaara (new)

Yaara Anyone wants to read Moby-Dick; or, The Whale with me in may?
Maybe I'll get past page 5 this time....

message 321: by Angie (new)

Angie Flegel (angiekuh) This is way crazy far in advance, but my book club doesn't meet/read over the holidays, so I am looking to read the Last Hundred Years: A Family Saga series (Some Luck, Early Warning, and Golden Age) Nov 2016-Jan 2017. That's 1,335 pages total, so I know it will personally take me at least 2 months.

message 322: by Zara's Retreat (new)

Zara's Retreat | 2365 comments All buddy reads for May have been posted.

message 323: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay | 1337 comments Would anyone want to read To Kill a Mockingbird or Ella Enchanted in June as they were runners up for the group read?

message 324: by Taylor C (last edited May 12, 2016 12:15PM) (new)

Taylor C | 454 comments I nominated Ella Enchanted, and I'd be more than glad to still read it with anybody :)

message 325: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay | 1337 comments Hopefully we can do it as a buddy read in June then!

message 326: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments That's a great idea!

message 327: by Kadijah Michelle (new)

Kadijah Michelle (kadmich) | 2176 comments Hi, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing Pride and Prejudice and Zombies for June? I just read June's group read, and I was looking to read the Zombie version soon.

Keri Sparks | 631 comments Kadijah Michelle wrote: "Hi, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing Pride and Prejudice and Zombies for June? I just read June's group read, and I was looking to read the Zombie version soon."

Sure, I'd be interested. I have never read that one and I am quite curious to see how it was done.

message 329: by Katie (new)

Katie (krash619) | 4 comments I'm a little confused here. Can someone help me understand how this works? At this point I think we're putting a suggested book in the thread (something we'd like to read) and when we want to read it. Is that correct?
I would like to read The Girl on the Train, but I think that may have been covered in this group already...?

Gabriella | 400 comments Katie wrote: "I'm a little confused here. Can someone help me understand how this works? At this point I think we're putting a suggested book in the thread (something we'd like to read) and when we want to read ..."

Katie, you put which book you want to read here and when so someone can read it with you in the same period and can comment too.

message 331: by Cassandra (last edited May 15, 2016 12:12PM) (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments I know we've had buddy reads with The Girl on the Train before, but it's been a while so I bet there are other people who want to read it too. There's no harm in doing it several times!

When were you hoping to read it? June?

message 332: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments Would anyone be interested in reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies in June to go with the group read?

We were thinking it might be a fun book for those who have already read Pride and Prejudice (or anyone else who wants to join).

Yes, June or July. Probably July - as it stands, June is looking a little chaotic.

I'd be up for reading this - I've just joined this group and was planning to join in with the group read in June but I've already read Pride & Prejudice. But the Zombies version has been on my TBR list for a loooong time now.

message 336: by Keri (new)

Keri Sparks | 631 comments I would do it as well! I want to see how it was done and have already pride and prejudice twice.

message 337: by Tami (new)

Tami | 3 comments I'd be in for that as well. I've read Pride and Prejudice quite a few times but it would be fun to still be tied into the action

message 338: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments Awesome! We'll definitely have a topic for it, then, and anyone is welcome to join. :)

Jamie (jamieu) Lindsay wrote: "Would anyone want to read To Kill a Mockingbird or Ella Enchanted in June as they were runners up for the group read?"

I'm still for Ella Enchanted if anyone is interested. Although, it would be SUPER interesting to lead Pride and Prejudice in the groupd read and then just read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies for fun. LOL! I don't think my brain could handle reading them both at the same time though lol.

Side note, I'm listening to The Girl on the Train right now! I hope whoever reads it in the future likes it. I personally couldn't stand to read it, but the narrations in the audio makes it SO much better! There's a different voice for each female character. So if anyone is interested, I definitely recommend the audiobook. :)

Sorry for the delay - study has been really hectic here of late.

I think I have everything updated to here.

message 343: by Zara's Retreat (new)

Zara's Retreat | 2365 comments I'm planning to read Diana Gabaldon's second book Dragonfly in Amber in June and July. Would anybody be interested in reading this book with over the two months?
