Book: The Blood Promise by Mark Pryor by Mark Pryor

Rate: 5 stars

Review: well...I can't say any more than it is a really good read! I loved the first two in the series...and now I have to wait for book 4 :( I love the Paris setting, even though it is a mystery...Paris just has a romantic feeling to it! Hugo Marston, in his own way..whether deliberate or not, figures out who the bad guy is, in his own way. of course, the author keeps you in suspense the entire way! Every time I thought that the killer was caught...someone else was murdered, and then the investigation started all over again! Definitely makes you think twice about being a criminal...lol! Although...this time I think the criminal was hidden in plain sight....right next to yet another criminal...who was masquerading as a stand-up guy! I should have knonw...politicians can never be trusted!

Third in Series

Rating: 5 stars

I found myself wishing the book would keep going even if it was just to watch the every day lives the characters had after the book was finished. I love the world Ms. Clare has constructed. I am sad to see this particular story end.

JoAnne (joannemwct) | 2511 comments Hi Gianna - believe we're just waiting on your review tomorrow night so I can roll 1am on Friday!
Have lots of stand alones and books 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 in a series I believe.

message 206: by Gianna (new)

Gianna I'm done too! I just have been a crappy day. It's supposed to rain so pressure is building up in my knee. Then add in my disastrous day at my daughter's softball practice and I'm sore. You can roll tonight, JoAnne! :)

Gianna Bad Attitude (Bad in Baltimore, #3) by K.A. Mitchell
Third in a series

3 1/2 stars

The first is still my favorite one. But I liked this better than the 2nd. I wanted to yell at Gavin to grow up and take responsibility for a better outlook on life. Jamie had life the way he wanted until he met Gavin and his family. It grates on my nerves when people make something small and could possibly be considered intimate into something big and public. Had to feel bad for Jamie over that.

JoAnne (joannemwct) | 2511 comments Okay - we're all in so I'll plan to stay up til 1am and roll for us.
I may not pick what I'm reading until tomorrow night unless we luck out and get a 4 in the spot we land on since I know I'll continue the series I'm reading if we do!

I have Finding It (Losing It, #3) by Cora Carmack and The Prophet of Yonwood (Book of Ember, #3) by Jeanne DuPrau , both 3rd in series; DMZ, Vol. 7 War Powers by Brian Wood , a 7th in series; Catch-22 by Joseph Heller , in Italy; and Friends vs. Family (The Ghost Bird Series, #3) by C.L. Stone , a re-read that's 3rd in series.

JoAnne (joannemwct) | 2511 comments Will start searching through my books now. Hopefully something jumps out at me and I can use it for another challenge!

Think I'll read All the Right Reasons (Damaged Heroes, #3) by Sandy James by Sandy James unless something else jumps out at me. Will start reading later in the weekend or Monday.

Changed my mind - I am using this one for a challenge this month so I bumped it up to this week since I had to read it in May for the other challenge and it's set in Tuscany, Italy - a place I so want to visit!

Book: Red Lily (In the Garden, #3) by Nora Roberts by Nora Roberts

Rate: 5 stars

Review: well....I have to say this series really kept me on my toes! I love Nora Roberts....her romances come at you with a very sly hand, and she adds mystery into the equation....using some history, some ghosts.... I didn't want this series to end...and I'm sure she could keep the characters going..but I guess at some point you have to say.."OK!!...the reader has to imagine the happily ever after!" this one..especially...had me laughing out loud....even though there was a lot of tension...a lot of unknowns..still...but in the end she wraps up the story neatly....leaving just enough rope to let your imagination carry you away!

Julie | 213 comments Finished book: Battle Magic (Circle Reforged, #3) by Tamora Pierce

Third in Series

Rate: 4 stars

Review: Tamora Pierce is one of my favorite authors. I have read almost everything she has written, some of them more than once. This book is supposed to be the third in the series, but it takes place before the other two books. When I first started reading The Will of the Empress I had to make sure I hadn't missed a book somewhere along the way. The characters kept talking about battles and the nightmares which resulted from the battles. Battle Magic tells the story behind those battles. Basically I'm saying if you are going to read this series I would recommend starting with this book instead of number one.

Breathing Room by Susan Elizabeth Phillips Breathing Room by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Rating: ★★★★

Review: This was not what I expected from a favorite author whom I haven't read in a while. Isabel and Ren had immediate chemistry and both were trying to shed their images. They helped each other through tough times and of course we had the requisite happily ever after that was nicely tied up in the epilogue. The descriptions of Tuscany - the towns, piazzas, farmland, hills, houses, villas, food, etc. made me feel like I was there. It's as I've imagined it and it definitely is on my bucket list to get there one day!

JoAnne (joannemwct) | 2511 comments It's 11:30pm and I can't keep my eyes open. I believe only 3 of us have posted so far so I'm heading to bed. Once the other reviews are posted Gianna can roll. I'll check in over the weekend. Not going to be around much. Have to be in NY (college graduation), RI for a family get together and then home on Monday and maybe get to the beach!

Happy Reading. Hope everyone has a good Memorial Day Weekend!

Burn by Maya Banks
Burn (Breathless, #3) by Maya Banks

Rating: 2 stars

Review:I picked this up, not having read the first 2 books in the series. This novel can be read as a standalone and not having read the first two did not take away from the story.

The rating for this started hovering at 2 stars a little before 50%. I didn't drop it lower because I actually liked the first 30% so much that I had a hard time putting it down. What happened??? I don't know. It's like after the initial attraction/action, everything ground to a complete halt. *Head meet desk*

I was contemplating dropping this book at 50%. By 60%, I'm so done with this. There's nothing happening. They met, they fell in insta-love, (view spoiler) and now nothing's happening. Shocked and amazed I made it to the end. Le-sigh...

Not sure if I'll read the first two although the review say that the first is really good.

message 248: by Gianna (new)

Gianna Hey everyone! I apologize for the disappearing act! The tower behind my house (like 50 feet from my house) controls all net, cell, and cable service for the area. It got struck by lightning from 2 different storms. Fried everything from the tower to the poles that provide the service to houses. So I've had to wait for them to get everything fixed. Supposedly it is now. If I go silent again, most likely that is why. It drove me absolutely crazy to not be able to communicate with anyone.
