Made me laugh, made me cry, made me fall in love!!

I just adore the Sweet, Texas series by Candis Terry! The stories are funny, sweet, romantic, and very sexy, and while they are light, Contemporary Romance reads, they’re not shallow. The stories are filled with life’s trials and triumphs, each poignant in its own unique way. And Sweetest Mistake even had me a bit teary eyed.

Yes...you can be super jealous that I got a piece of Jackson and you have to wait for him to show up in your stocking at Christmas.

OMG...I didn't think the Wilder Brother's could get even HOTTER or MORE STUBBORN than Reno, but I was WRONG! Jackson is a whole lotta yummy in a tall, handsome package that I wanted to unwrap...no dirty minds, I meant unwrap his MIND!! He sure was a stubborn man that had me wanting to give him a good, stern talking to...but Abby, one of the coolest heroines (along wi

Well, Jackson is a huge improvement over Reno, which is odd because the behavior is pretty much the same. I think it worked better with Jackson because you could clearly see that he had two different modes based on whether something was physically or emotionally threatening. Physical threats were met head-on and with determination and bravery. Emotional threats were met with burrowing into himself while he tried to figure out what to do. And no, I didn't find it at all weird for a man to be brav ...more

Another great outing in the series, with another hero who needed to get his head together. Our hero is a fire-fighter and single dad of an adorable three-year-old. Our heroine is his former best friend who walked out of his life seven years ago because he always treated her as an after-thought and never realised she was in love with him and their shared moments of intimacy (twice), which he wrote off meant the world to her. So, the heroine went looking for love in all the wrong places and found ...more

I really enjoyed reading this, but the hero, Jackson, just about ruined it for me. He has to be the most stubborn and stupid guy I've read in a long time. He was constantly apologizing for kissing her and pushing her away. Maybe he should have noticed that she wasn't pushing him away and just maybe she had the same feelings for him. But he wouldn't ever ask or admit what he felt. He would rather make a promise to not touch her until he figured it out. Dumb ass. His redemption for me was that he ...more

A wonderfully engaging story of friendship, heartache and second chances. Sweetest Mistake by Candis Terry is a fun and sexy read and everything I wanted from the Sweet, Texas series!

When Abby Morgan strolls back into town intent on fixing up her parents old house and then moving on with her life, she knows she’s going to run into Jackson Wilder, she’s just hoping she can keep her distance from her old best friend. The last thing she wants is for her feelings to show through and for her to get h

Abby has come home to Sweet to fix her parents house and sale it. She left years ago married a rich man and hasn't been back. She has never forgot Jackson her best friend and the guy she always loved. Now divorced she would love to see if they could be more than friends. Jackson has never forgot Abby or the fact that she left him and Sweet years ago. He is afraid to get to close in case she walks away again. He has enough nightmares without added more to the mix. It's official. Candis Terry is one of my favorite adult contemporary romance authors. This says a lot because I have found that adult romances are really hit or miss with me. Candis Terry is a complete hit. I really enjoyed last year's Anything But Sweet and when I saw this pop up for review, I jumped at the chance to get back to my favorite small town of Sweet, Texas and those sexy Wilder brothers.

I really liked Jackson. He is a good man, a great father, and a hard worker. He is a former Marin

After a stint of reading shorter novellas, I was excited to really dive in to a full-length novel and really get to know the characters and their stories. Sweetest Mistake was certainly sweet and it was not a mistake to read. Review from Backchatting Books

Firefighter and former marine Jackson Wilder doesn’t know how to deal with his former best friend Abigail Morgan. He shared an awful lot of firsts with her but then she abandoned him for the bright lights of the biggest city. Now she is back in town after her marriage failed and he can’t resist the urge to get in touch with her again.

Jackson is the epitome of a clueless male who doesn’t know what he had until he lost it. He had feelings for Abby but doesn’t want to

Absolute 4 1/2 star read!

Jackson is all out sexy, and all out stubborn but the most lovable pain in the ass hero I’ve ever met. Abby Morgan is my girl. She survived a marriage so like mine, except for the wealth, that I have to side with her. She’s forward, outspoken, and knows what she wants and will do whatever it takes to get it, including a striptease that drives Jackson wild even when he’s fighting his fear of losing control if he were to touch her.

So, I'm a diehard Candis Terry fan. All the way. I have been ever since discovering Second Chance at the Sugar Shack. Her stories have a lovely small town feel which I wholeheartedly enjoy, they are full of laughs, characters you just want to take home with you and hang out with, or maybe just move to their town. Like Sweet, Texas. Yes, i wanna go! Where do I sign up? How do I get there?

I questioned Candis the other day, wondering how is it she just gets better and better? Sweetest Mistake goes

Jackson was an idiot. Abby had such patience to wait out his issues. Honestly, he needed to grovel a bit more than what was in the book. Now when I looked past his stupidity in the trust and commitment department I liked the guy. Overall this was a cute small-town romance. And as a sidenote, the MVP goes to Jesse. Like seriously he was a lot of fun so I'm looking forward to his book. And I see Fiona and Hooch on the horizon too which sounds good to me.

I iz disappoint.

I had such high expectations and while this book was never really bad, it just didn't work for me. I didn't click with the characters and had a hard time getting behind the romance... which is weird since I will forever root for best friends.

I didn't like this one as much as I liked the first book, but it was still a decent second chance romance. I think I wanted a bit more chemistry between the two of them.

Sweetest Mistake is the 2nd installment in Candis Terry's Sweet, Texas series. In this book in hop right back into the newly renovated town of Sweet and the rambunctious Wilder family. While Reno is off helping Charli pack her stuff up and move to Sweet, we spend some time with Jackson Wilder. Jackson and Abigail were the best of friends; they were each other’s firsts (first kiss, first sex), before Jackson left for the Marines and Abigail left Sweet without saying goodbye. Now Abigail returns after her marriage crashed and burned. Jack still feels hurt because Abigail cut ties with him and the town – she wasn’t even there where he needed her the most – but he can’t deny that the attraction is still there. Very good friends to lovers story. There were parts that had me laughing out loud and others that had me reaching for the tissues. Abby and Jackson had been best friends for a long time. They shared a lot of things, including some important firsts. But shortly after Jackson left for the Marines, Abby left Sweet behind for the big city, with no word of explanation and no more contact. Now she's back to get her parents' house ready to sell and has to confront her past.

Sweetest Mistake is the first Candis Terry book that I read, courtesy of Crystal. Unfortunately, the first book in the series wasn't available at the library in audiobook format so I went with the second book. It also helped that this is a second chance friends to lovers romance. And I absolutely love those!

As a note, reading the second book did not ruin the first book's plot for me. We do see them in this book but no spoilers are revealed.

Reunited lovers and friends–to-lovers are two of my favorite tropes, and Candis Terry offers readers both in this book. While the story picks up at the point of reunion, Terry supplies enough details about Jackson and Abby’s past for readers to understand how rich and multi-layered the history between them is. I particularly liked that these characters are not frozen in time during the seven years that they are apart. They both try to create lives in which the other has no place, and they both ...more

If you were to ask me who puts out reliable contemporary romance, one of the author’s I’d name would be Candis Terry. She has a knack for writing sweet, without being saccharine, romance with smart, capable characters. I reviewed and enjoyed her last book, Anything But Sweet, so that made requesting Sweetest Mistake a no brainer.

Jackson Wilder is floored when he hears that his old childhood friend/sweetheart has returned to Sweet, Texas. She left without any explanation and cut him completely ou

Sweetest Mistake sucked me in before I even started reading. My favorite type of romance happens when friends become lovers. The history and passion between the two characters are usually off the charts. So the second I saw the line "When friends become lovers..." in the blurb, I was a goner. I was not disappointed. I loved the tension between Jackson and Abby in the beginning of the book. A mixture of sexual tension and sexual frustration radiated off these two. The best way to describe Jackson ...more

Sweetest Mistake is a fun loving romance. We watch as the couple in question are pulled back together by the bond they shared, circumstances and the manipulation of their family. I have to admit I rather enjoyed the family manipulation.

While both Jackson and Abigail had have lives out side their small town, when they return to Sweet the trip to redeveloping their friendship is even a very rocky road... but boy was it fun to watch. The sexual tension is strung tight and with each encounter the i

“Oh. I get it." Abby laughed. "This is where you bid on someone to wash your car."

"Naked," Charli said.

"Or check the shower tiles."

"Also naked."

Abby laughed. "I'm guessing that as long as there's wet and naked, we're all good."

Fiona let out a long sigh.

"What was that?" Charli asked with a lift to her perfect brows. "Have you got a victim---I mean a participant in mind?"

Fiona glanced across the hall. "Have you seen Jackson's fireman buddy?"

"No." Charli looked across the room. "Should we?"

"Too late," Fiona said. "I've got first dibs."

At that moment, Abby noticed the Wilder boys walk across the front of the room near the stage. Individually, they were stunning. As a group, they looked as appetizing as a decadent box of chocolates. Abby couldn't tear her eyes away from Jackson. Put him in a fireman suit, a tux jacket and jeans, or a simple T-shirt and cargo shorts, and he took her breath away.

Truthfully, she liked him best in noting at all.

"Holy guacamole." Charli gestured to a tall, dark, and devastating man walking with the group. "Is that who you are talking about?"

Fiona nodded. "I want to lick him up one side and down the other like a cherry Popsicle."

"Honey, you bid as high as you can go," Charli said. "And if you run out of money, you just let me know. I'd be happy to chip in.”
