Hello new teammates! I am Jody and I thought I would say hello.. Thank you, Teresa, for the pre-emotive welcome!!!! I will look around for a book to participate this week and then get it posted. ;)
Ok... I have chosen a book that I was on the fence about reading but, as it does qualify for this week and the kindle price was cheap (and I had a gift card - hahahaha), I have chosen my book:Allegiant (book 3 of the divergent series).

I saw Divergent in theaters, and loved it so much I bought the trilogy but haven't read them yet!
Hi Jody - **waving madly** Welcome to our team! I've read 2 of the 3 in the Divergent series. I've heard so much about the third that I'm really hesitant to read it. I'll be interested to read your review. And Teresa, loved the movie!

Hi Jody! Welcome to Serial Killers!Hope you'll like your book. I've seen plenty of disappointed people here on GR with third one. And to be honest it didn't really helped me with wanting to continue the series. I've read only first book, and didn't see a movie.
Can't wait to see what you think about it.
~Melissa~ Yeah, those words make my hackles rise. It completely reduces women to a body part. (view spoiler)Started my book. Should be finished tomorrow.

Review:
I just couldn't get into this book. (I've read 3 others between starting and finishing this one :P) I didn't like main female character. I had bad impression from last book where she was in only few scenes. I had feeling she was using everyone else, especially her brother-in-law (that was from last book) and in this one it went from him to another guy (aka hero). And her vendetta... no comment...
What's bothering me also is that I have a feeling author is writing more or less same book only with different names and maybe different setting.
Even cliffhanger at the end was meh. (You saw it coming. :P)
That said, I'm not giving up on series yet. ☺
Teresa, what are the chances of us landing on 6 or 8 on Friday? I really want to read those books. :P
Week 3: Spot 23
5/6/14 4.5★
Review:My favorite of this series so far. Rachel is the youngest Stanislawski and she is a passionate public defender. She meets Zack when she becomes the attorney for his younger stepbrother. Zack is a former Navy man and present owner of a bar. And he's awesome! The sparks fly between the two of them as they work to save Nick from his bad choices. It's a great little story, very well told. And I really want an invitation to this family's Sunday dinner.

Wonderful continuation of the story! New adventure abounds with giant rats and the threat of ghostly possession while both men struggle to find their place with each other. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Brief Review
Tessa Sheridan is trying to get her life back. After leaving behind the big city and her career as an interior designer, she returns home to Destiny to try to cope with her illness. Some days are good...some are not so good. Still, slowly but surely things start to get better.
That is until she runs into her neighbor on the hill. She knows who he is. He's bad boy Lucky Romo, rumored to be mixed up in all kinds of illegal activity.
Lucky knows who the pretty lady is who lives down the road. He also knows he needs to stay away from her. He has a very bad past - one that could very well endanger Tessa.
What I liked: I enjoyed this book. It's full of real life challenges for both Tessa and Lucky. I really enjoy how they are able to work it all out. Tessa proves to be one very strong heroine.
What I didn't like: In the beginning the story moves very slowly, and it was difficult to make a connection with Tessa.
Overall, it was a good book - a three star read for me.
Jody, Hope you are well and enjoying your book! Just a reminder, we can't roll until your review is in, but you don't have to be done and posted until midnight Friday. If you aren't finished by then, we don't get to roll this week.
Strike that!!! I double checked, and if you don't feel you can finish your book, we can go ahead and roll for tomorrow, but you'll need to pick a different book then. Let me know ASAP so I can roll and we can pick our books :D
Week 3Space: 23
Requirements: 3rd book
Allegiant 1* 5/4-5/9
Well... I should have stuck with my original plan to not read this one. This book was terrible. I got through most of it but it just felt like torture. The book is incredibly amateur in sentence structure, vocabulary, plot, etc. I rated the first book 4 stars, the second 3 stars, and this one gets 1. Honestly, I would have given up on this book 50 pages in had it not been for not wanting to let my (new) team down. (Wish I had known before about not having to finish... I figured I had to read at least 150 pages since that is the minimum book length.)
Anyway, read the first book of the series and enjoy it for what it is. You may or may not like the second book. Frankly, I'm surprised this third one was even published.

I am so sorry I didn't think to double check till the last moment and you had to finish it!! I hadn't heard from you and wanted to give you time.
I'm sad the book sucked! I've been looking forward to reading them. It's odd that a series goes down hill so much... then again I can think of a few where they should have stopped at book one!!
Oh Teresa, not to worry! I appreciate the apology but it is absolutely not necessary! Here is my book for this week:
Author A
Persuasion by Jane Austen
This has been on my shelf forever and I love Pride & Prejudice so I am counting on Miss Austen to re-ignite my love of a good story.
BTW - I never said thank you for the warm welcome to the team. Thank you all. I am delighted to be here!
I started listening Seduce Me at Sunrise yesterday since I have to return it to library on Monday. Sadly, I can't use it here now. :(I'm still trying to decide what I'll read this week.
Probably
but it still depends on my mood. ☺Edit:
No Place to Run by Maya Banks (KGI #2)
Sorry Teresa, I forgot... *smiling sheepishly*
jingles wrote: "Oh, Tea...I sure hope you enjoy No Place to Run when you read it. I loved it!"First one was good. I was waiting for right numbers to continue with series :P
I liked that series a lot. Lucky Harbor is my favorite, but this one is fun - as far as I'm concerned, anything by Jill Shalvis is a good thing!I'm thinking about what I'll read.
And Jody, so glad I decided to hold off reading Allegiant. thanks for your review.
Yes! Have you seen her FB page. She is as funny in RL as she is in her books. Today she posted pictures of her dog "Frat Boy" leaping into the water at her house. She lives up in the mountains and she's always posting the most amazing views.

Teresa, I've started reading No Place to Run (Maya Banks - KGI #2) so you can put that book in your post. ☺

This was fun and quick read. Sam and Sophie had affair while he was undercover, and five months later he fishes her up from a lake in front of his house and discovers she's pregnant. Sophie is running away from her family (mob) who is trying to kill her.
I had a problem with Sophie keeping secrets because she was afraid they (Kellys) will send her away. If she told them everything upfront it would be so much easier. But then we wouldn't have this book. :P
Trying to decide if I should read next one immediately and then continue series with rolls or to wait for us to get 3 again.

Brief Review
Nobody writes a love story like Jill Shalvis. The character development, dialogue, and humor have never disappointed me.
Emma has come back to Wishful to fill in at her ailing father's clinic. Having been separated from her father since the age of six, there are some very hurtful underlying issues going on there, and Emma just wants to get the job done so she can return to her fast paced life in New York.
Stone Wilder runs Wilder Adventures along with his two brothers, Cameron and T.J. Secretly though, he'd rather be doing renovation work. After a hiking accident, he comes face to face with Dr. Emma Sinclair...one beautiful but uptight lady.
What I liked: I loved everything about this book. It's full of real life issues that have to be worked out--such as the one between Emma and her dad. The developing relationship between Emma and Stone comes with its own set of problems - Emma doesn't feel like she fits in, Stone can't leave Wilder Adventures, etc. The dialogue and humor are excellent, and the two main characters are great.
Overall it was a 5 star read for me, and I can't wait to get to book #3.

Loved Vic and all his flaws! Great story! Though I had some of the mystery figured out early, other parts came as a surprise. Looking forward to the next one.
Week 4: Letter AThe Calling5/13/14 3.5★
Review: 3.5 ★ I am a huge fan of Jennifer Ashley, especially her historical series. And I have been slowly collecting these books and looking forward to this series. Unfortunately I was slightly underwhelmed by it. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline but I wasn't crazy about how heavy into Wicca and the Goddess religion aspects it went especially when we had the shared sexual experience at the end. Ick. But overall a pretty good start to the series.
