R2: Serial Killers (5)
TWISTED, WEEK 1
BOOK = WHITE COVER
Twisted by Emma Chase
Read from 04/20/14 - 04/21/14
Rating: ★★★★
Brief Review
This is a continuation of the story that started with Tangled. It picks up two years later, with Kate and Drew still together and seemingly going strong. That is until Kate realizes what is causing the unexpected nausea, tiredness, etc. Things soon take a turn for the worse. Kate makes an appointment to see an OB/GYN, lies to Drew about where she's going; Drew knows she's lying and follows her--only to see her hugging on some man in the parking lot. One thing leads to another, and soon things are really on the rocks. Kate leaves, and Drew hits rock bottom. It a twisted mess.
What I liked: I loved the humor that comes across between all of the characters. I really liked how the story progresses as Kate and Drew go through the ups and downs, finally settling down with the HEA.
What I didn't like: Right away, you know exactly what the whole misunderstanding is--so you know the "why" part right away. Also, there were enough grammatical errors to be distracting.
Overall, I really liked the story and will continue with the series.

Looks good! RL has gotten away on me this week and I haven't updated the tracking post yet but will do this evening :) Hopefully I will have my book read as well, I just had to go and pick a long one this week!!!
Week 1 -
Space: 9
Requirements: Color: White
Title: Ball & Chain
Author: Abigail Roux
Series: Cut & Run #8
Date read: 23/04/14
Rating: ★★★★
I'm going to expand on my review a bit for you ladies. This is the 8th book in a beloved series. There is only one more book (yet to be written) before the series is over, but the author has a spin-off planned. There is controversy surrounding this book, that it spent too much time focused on this new pairing and series (Nick and Kelly) and not enough on the established couple (Ty and Zane).
However, I found it to be much better than I anticipated!!! Though heavy on the Nick/Kelly and Nick/Ty (friendship) relationships there was still enough Zane/Ty to be a Cut & Run story. The mystery on the island was convoluted and complex, but I found it entertaining. I loved the end and can see where things are going though there are still a lot of strings to tie up.
Week 1: #9 Color White

Review: I wasn't sure what to make of this book as I started reading it - the story of 3 women who married the same man and all decide to go looking for him in the Alaskan gold fields. But as their characters were slowly revealed and as they experienced all the difficulties of traveling to Alaska, I became totally engrossed in the story. Towards the end it got a little hokey, but other than that a delightfully different historical romance.
Hello Team!! Hope everyone is doing well. I've been sick so haven't been on GR a lot. Looking forward to Friday!!
Thanks! It's just been a really nasty cold/flu thingy. I haven't been sick in a while so I feel rather whiny babyish about it. But I'm better every day!
Good to hear :D it's only good to be sick when you are sick enough to not have to work, but we'll enough you can still read! LOL
I completely agree, Teresa!! The worst is being so sick you can't read. I have to be realllllly sick for that to happen!

Review:
I can't believe I'm done! This was so fast paced book (unlike previous one that was dragging) that it took me only couple of hours to finish it. Or maybe it's because there wasn't that irritating (to me) character from first books in it. ☺
Don't you hate it when you're reading something that's keeping you on the edge of the chair and then you turn the page and find about the author thing? Although there are like 30 pages left? That's what happened here. Kinda disappointing. But then again, there is next book waiting to be read. (Teresa, could we get to 2s next roll? ☺)
This time we follow Ethan who's kinda reason this whole series happened. OK, that's little stretching it since it wasn't his fault (view spoiler). He's broody, paranoid and pushing everyone away (but considering what's he been through, who can blame him). That was only thing that was ticking me off. And that
When his friend goes missing, Ethan has to do something he promised himself he'll never do - go to Nevernever (aka Fairy-land) and ask for help.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
I think I forgot to post what book I am reading this week. I will be reading rock chick by Kristen Ashley, which is a series first book.
Week 2
Space 15
Requirement: 1st
Book: A Gay Romance
Author: Gina A. Rogers & Kyle Adams
Series: A Gay Series
Date read: 26/04/14
Rating: ★★★1/5
Review:
This was Brilliantly Awful! It was a parody of gay romance novels and at times was difficult to read through the puns, spoof and satire. But there was moments of "I see what you did there" that made it worth while. I don't know if I would read further novels in this series but I enjoyed this one.

Review:Wow, just wow. Loved this start to a new series by Zoe Archer. Gritty, sexy, and full or intriguing characters and non-stop action. Set in late 19th century London, Nemesis Unlimited is a group of people committed to helping right wrongs against the average person. They assist in a prison break of Jack, who was once the hired thug of an aristocrat who is into evil deeds. Eva is the daughter of missionaries, and she is one tough lady. Zoe Archer writes books that completely grab my attention and this one is no exception.
I started my book today, and oh how right you are, Leslie! I am loving it! Have you read the whole series?I must say 'Sweet Revenge' looks really good too. I might have to add that to my TBR.
jingles wrote: "I started my book today, and oh how right you are, Leslie! I am loving it! Have you read the whole series?"I'll wait for your review before putting it on my TBR. ☺
~Melissa~ (my evil GR's friend) got me hooked on KA and yes I have to admit (hanging my head in embarrasment) that I have read the entire Rock Chick series and all of her Dream Man series and now I'm working my way through the Colorado Mountain man series and about to start her unfinished hero series. She is my guilty pleasure. She drives me crazy and yet I can't stay away!! Enjoy!!And have you read any other Zoe Archer books? I love her books.

Brief Review
Indy is a crazy fun sorta gal who has secretly loved Lee since she was a young girl. Lee has had his eye on Indy for awhile now - problem is, she's his sister's best friend.
These are two wild and crazy characters, who were an absolute joy to read about!
What I liked: I really liked Indy and Lee. Indy has such a fun personality, and the crazy way she seems to always find trouble. I really liked Lee as well.
What I didn't like: Though the story is very action packed, at times it just seemed to go way over the top, which tended to make the story drag for me from time to time.
Overall it was a 4 star read for me, and I am really looking forward to book #2.
Teresa, I've tried to edit my review to add the book/author links, but the computer I'm working from is not allowing that.I will try again just as soon as I can tomorrow.
Wait wait!! Did you say that KA is sometimes over the top!!! Ha Ha --- there's an understatement!! I take 1/2 a star away from her all the time because she WON'T END A BOOK!!! But I love her books anyway.
I know, right?! I mean, it just kept going and going. And Indy landed in one too many scrapes. Drove me about half batty sometimes. I loved it though :)She (the author) writes such great dialogue. Indy's internal dialogue alone was well worth the book for me.
I just finished one of her books and it was making me scream with frustration. Remember the last Lord of the Rings movie and it just wouldn't end - that's how I felt.
How did I miss all this KA talk??!!? LOL Come on Leslie - you know she always ends her books at the perfect time - approx 75 pages after it was necessary. But man I love her epilogues!! Just takes so dang long to get there sometimes :)jingles - you have such a fun road ahead - jealous a Rock Chick newbie!!

Melissa, I was wondering when you were going to pop in!!The last one I read ended (view spoiler) I mean really. I had errands to run and I couldn't leave until I finished. My husband thought I was having seizures I was so frustrated.
I'll be reading
Falling for Rachelwhich is #3 in the series.
Happy Friday everyone!!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Hi ladies! Could I ask a favour? Could you please put the non cover link in instead of or as well as the cover, as when I hover over the link to find the book to update my posts, the cover link doesn't give me the author— which I sometimes need. (That's an awkward sentence...)Thanks!!!

Re your spoiler - now I have to know which one you're talking about (view spoiler)
Yes, it was (view spoiler)I actually just started the next one Breathe I like it but it's not quite as good as the previous one.
Hi Killers! I'm just checking in with you. I'm still without a computer. I had it back Friday morning--very briefly, but it's back down. I'm at the library trying to catch up on things, so I just wanted to keep you all up to date.
I haven't figured out my next book yet, but will post it as soon as I know - probably from my phone, so again, I won't be able to post the book/author links. For some strange reason, the library computer doesn't allow me to do that either. Weird.
I hope you all are enjoying a wonderful weekend!
Hi Jingles! It is raining and threatening to snow here so I wish mother nature would get it together! Other than that it's been good so far :D Hope your computer if fixed soon!
